Congrats to all winners. Although I thought it was a really fun subject, I couldn't find the peace and time to participate, still too busy with the sheep business.

Looking forward to the next competition.

Love your first entry Bart. I don't even live in a village, only 3 neighbours and nothing mysterious about them LOL

Point and Shoot Competition #149 - Things you miss the most

I live in the Netherlands right at the Belgium border. What I miss the most during this pandemic is the lack of inhibition (if that's the right expression). Today we have to think a lot before we step outside our house. Think about where we're going, are we allowed to go there, how to behave, be careful with what we touch, keeping our distance, desinfect our hands constantly. You can't comfort people with a warm embrace unless they live with you in the same house. We've become suspicious, even hostile sometimes towards people we don't know. I've seen it all around me on the streets and in the shops. During the closure of the borders it was like a wartime zone. Every path, lane or road around me which was leading into Belgium was closed with either man-size heaps of soil, iron fences or huge concrete blocks. I'm glad that is gone and that our governments have decided to never physically close the borders again, but we're still not free to go where we want to go.
For instance as of last week's Belgian rule: if Bart should decide to pay me a visit, he's allowed to, but when returning to his home, he has to go in self-quarantine for 14 days. So my contribution to this #149 competition is to show you how limited we actually still are.
Photo 1 is the front view of my house. The land is Dutch, the dyke and church is Belgium
Photo 2 is taken from the dyke where my sheep graze. Half way the land and the trees is Belgium
Photo 3 is taken in my neighbourhood. The tall trees on the left are Dutch, the smaller trees beyond is Belgium.

I haven't been in the discussion forums so I haven't seen what's described here, but a discussion should never ever lead to rudiness and calling each other names. You can agree to disagree and leave it at that, step away. Those who can't control their ego, don't show respect and/or start calling names should be banned for a (longer) period or forever if they repeatedly cross that line of being respectul and being polite.
To all the moderators: keep up the good work.

Great photo, great story officiousbystander, I wonder, didn't get the dogs into a fight sometimes? A great subject too chubasco, but a very difficult one too. I'm still thinking about how I can visualize what I miss the most.

Congrats to KWB, a well deserved winner. Thanks to er1kksen for hosting an interesting contest. I love challenges where you have to
think out of the box and I knew mine were too close to the real thing, but sheep inspections got in the way of thinking this one through.

I did wonder though what kind of job requires taking pictures of trees alll day.

It's a Birch Notebook. I always wonder how old those writers are today. At least one is 23 years older.

I can't help it but I just love the inside of those 100+ year old dead pollard willow trees. Just cropped it, original colors.

OMG it's been so long since I've been here. Glad to see that all the familiar 'faces' are still here. I really like the subject and the photos and congrats to the winners. I'm a caretaker of an old lady (older than me anyway) and I've been so busy organizing things for her as I can't do them myself at this moment during corona time. So photographing wasn't on my mind the past month.

Nothing ever happens in my neck of the woods at night. However on Feb 2, 2014 some old guy with too much beer in his body drove his car into the ditch in front of our house. Luckily the man was not hurt.

Lots of beautiful entries. Will be hard to pick one. I'm off with a buch of sheep in my van, have to bring them to another breeder and after that I'm going fishing. Will be a wet day, it's raining cats and dogs at the moment.
