"Ricoh/Pentax has no plans to announce a new camera this fall"

What exactly is your interpretation of a road map, development announcement, mockups.... companies make promises to build trust. Break them too often and your reputation is gone. No vision, no promises, no news, no rumors.

I promise that I already know the follow up question of the next smart guy.

Pentax appears slow, market is shrinking, but I assume they still earn money with camera gear. They most likely make more money with the not so obvious products. With K1 there was dpa brighter is better hype today the forum is full of questions about legacy lenses. Little discussion about new glass - at this time all questions about new glass have been asked and beaten to death anyways.
Letís hope for some anniversary releases and donít expect much after that for some time. Nothing new for the anniversary, and I could thank Pentax for saving me money.

DA*300mm/1.4x Converter vs. New 150-450mm

The 150-450 performs well even at the long end. 300 is smaller, lighter and has f/4 - af feels slow, but works. Thatís about it. If you need to go longer than 300 mm, go for the zoom. 450mm on aus-c is quite serious and often you jus5 need to practice more to get closer itís the smaller lens.
The 300 you can carry along, the 150-450 you only carry for a purpose.

Had both on K1, the 300 with tc on K3. Unless you have lots of light, the tc is not helpful. tried Pentax 1.4 and Tamron 1.4.

The 150-450 draws attention to you quite a bit. The 300 looks compact. And thatís it in Pentax land.

Who does Pentax monochrome conversions?

I had one of the rare 6MP Kodak monochrome cameras a long time ago - probably the only DCS 1m. Superb resolution per pixel. One f-stop more light, no Bayer filters sucking up light and smearing the imagery. A colleague now has a converted Canon 5d in monochrome. Sweet toy for technical photography.
For machine vision monochrome cameras are standard and no questions asked. In photography only Leica shaves sensors to offer monochrome sensors these days.
Happy to learn who will convert Pentax.

I was not given any 85 mm lens. I could get one from/for any other mount more or less.

USB comes in many flavors. Do not expect old USB devices to work with the most recent PC boards. Your camera may connect fine to an old USB controller.
Use CF card.

My 100mm lenses: Do my M lenses hold up to the modern DFA's ?

Macro lenses are always optically gerat. DFA adds new coating, sealing, af. No aperture ring, af is often pointless for macro.

To be found on Reason is the concentration on mirror less mounts.
Less options for Pentax users, but the selection was small anyways.

Not a great loss, but a sign. Pentax can now present their own large aperture 35, tele zooms, ...

Get the telescope mount information and send them to someone already making Pentax mount.
It sound easier for a lens adaptor maker to connect to a telescope than for a telescope maker to make a Pentax mount adapter.
The whole story sounds a little bit silly as many standards and adaptors exist. Who tried to invent his own standard.

There are international standards that have to be met by all companies that sell products. Otherwise you need warning stickers on equipment. We all have seen laser class warnings, led warnings are less common, but with strong leds you see them more often.
Blue led light is not new to product developers, but maybe to some journalists. Your camera carries many certificates like UL, CE, telecommunication, ...

Some people donĎt see the difference, some are searching for either the wrong Leica lens. Some Leica lenses are very unique and you can see the difference in drawing a picture. Other lenses draw also very nicely, but we all are looking for that special drawing. Leica lenses will not make you abetted photographer, but a lux 80, the old cron 90, and many other lenses are different.

Nikon is only producing 1,000 units of its 500mm F5.6 lens each month

Why on earth is he complaining about 1000 units per month? A little word causes all kind of debate here. Only 1000. The lens is selling well, be happy. If I want to buy one now, I can get one. Itís not like waiting 15 years on a car.
Nobody really wants the super long Pentax, no demand. Everyone wants a short and cool PF lens from Nikon. Iím much closer to buy a pf500 with Nikon body than to care about the Pentax 560.

Should Canon Add IBIS to its Cameras? Ė Phoblographer Article Shows Lack of Research

Itís 2019, you want ibis AND ilis. Even Nikon is said to add ibis to DSLRs now. A rock solid viewfinder image for you and your af with long glass is really nice = ilis. For all other uses, add ibis. Combine both and you have a winner.
Pentax is about to Ąloseď one major unique selling point.

What are you comparing to? The 560 fits in the long tele price range of all major brands. Design is awkward, performance is good, but not great according to reviewers.

Sigma Art 30 vs K1

Pentax cameras deserve Pentax lenses.
No Art35 worked for me on K1. D-FA 50 works very well. I you think the 30mm Sigma is big, think twice about going fullframe.

Anniversary day is in November. Enough time to check out the Canon offering in more detail. New 85 design, small footprint and shake reduction. All that used to be Pentax features. Nikon opted for a new 105, the 85s are not that tempting. I donít care about Sigma or cameras without mirror. Itís a small world and Pentax could play a role. But that is just my perspective.

Pinhole zoom lens

Shit and pinhole is easy. Get a pinhole disk and drill a whole in a body cap. Problem will be the distance between cap and sensor plane. With 43mm distance the shift effect will not feel like a wide angle. Calculations can be found online, same for custom pin holes, laser cut,....
I tried 18 and 22 mm distance on 6x8 film, that was wide!

If you have the DA 21 and the DA 20-40 Limiteds . .

Check out older discussions about the 20-40.
20-40 has all zoom advantages, plus weather sealing.
I used 21 & 40 before the zoom was released. 21 broke twice on me with focus trouble. In that case you still have the 40. The zoom never failed. Filter thread on the zoom is awkward, not the same size as most other Pentax lenses.
21&40 felt smaller than the zoom for packing.
After trying both, today I would opt for the two lens option - unless you donít like changing lenses back and forth.
