Sorry if this is a straightforward question, but I have been out of the serious hobby photography world for the last few years due to my two munchkins. My oldest is now getting into sports, I am finding my DA 55-200 lacking.

I am looking for a budget 300mm lens to mostly use at my son's baseball/soccer games. It doesn't need to be fancy or weather sealed...just good enough to take sharp enough close-ups to please the wife. Pentax or 3rd party makes no difference, so long as it has a reasonably competent auto-focus.

Thanks.

I got lucky with the lighting conditions that day. That said, I did apply a small amount of HDR to this. --I view HDR like women's makeup....its best to use just enough that people can't tell.

I have a K-5 II

Does anyone else experience significant lag time between pressing the shutter and when the image appears on the back of the screen? I have this issue both shooting RAW and JPEGS. I have a 32 GB class 10 SDHC card. I sort of expected the delay in shooting RAW, but lately I have been shooting more and more JPEGS of family events and was really surprised at write speed lag here as well.

Anyone else have similar issues?

Thanks. WOund up just taking it in to be professionally cleaned, as I also had some sensor spots. They managed to clean most of the dust behind the focusing screen, but a few particles ....not worth doing anything more about. Before I took it in, it was an absolute mess. I think my rocket blower made it worse.

I have a refurbed pentax MESuper. Want to start shooting film, but not sure how best to go about it. I have shot a couple of rolls, but already lost 2 rolls of film because they didn't catch on the winder.

As far as development is concerned, I have a scanner with settings for photo negative and a negative frame holder. Is it good enough to just get the negatives developed and then scan them into the computer? Do I need to tell the developer to add exposure comp or is that all done in post when I scan it like digital?

Can anyone get me started?

My focusing screen on my K5II has an insane amount of dust particles, fibers, and specs. Attempts to clean it with a rocket blower and brush made it 10x worse. Will I damage the screen if I use one of those sensor-cleaning kits with the special solution and pads?

Thinking of Selling K-01 and switching to Sony Alpha 6000--thoughts?

My current lineup is my K5ii; K-01; and Ricoh GR. My Gr is my walkaround camera and my K5ii is my "serious" camera. Out of the 3, I barely use the K-01, mainly due to the slow focusing, lack of EVF, and slow burst rate. I am thinking of selling thew K-01 and some legacy lenses and going with the Sony Alpha 6000. While I love my little ricoh, the fixed focal length is often limiting, and I would like something with a little more reach and that is more "kid -friendly" (high burst rate) when out with the family.

Haven't seen too many reviews here on the Sony 6000.

Thoughts?

Anyone actually use their OVF on their GR

I have had my GR for a number of years now. I love it. Use mostly for "on the go" photos/bikepacking/travel & family parties. I find that I rarely, if eve, use the expensive OVF that came with it. I just do not see a reason to use it.

Do others use it regularly, and, if so, when? I could see maybe in really bright sunlight.

Am I missing something?

I did not have much success with this shade. Glue ultimately dried out and it fell off. Shade itself was "ok." added to bulk and really limits you to holding the unit at eye level.

Well, right. If you are in any auto-exposure mode the camera is going to be constantly adjusting the aperture blades based on the light source. That is how my K-01 works.

Any add-on lens for ricoh GR

I was wondering if there are any available add-on lenses (whether ricoh or 3rd party) that would work with the ricoh GR. I know they make an add-on wide-angle lens. I am looking for something that would give a narrower field of view (35 or 50).

On the GR, you can select the aspect ratio, and the camera can automatically crop to the equivalent of a 35mm photo or use a 1:1 aspect ratio. You lose some megapixels when doing so.

Or...if doing portraits, just walk closer.
