Meanwhile in Fayette County Texas, La Grange, the city is NOT cancelling a huge huge huge Antiques fair, Round Top antiques fair. It has world wide participation both sellers and buyers. Their reasoning is since there are no known cases of the virus and we are appearing for now to be healthy that it’s safe for 1000’s of people from out of state to international to convene in a small little town. The hospital here has been in the paper all last year and now for continued mismanagement and the ability to misplace hospital equipment. If anyone ends up sick it’s going to be a nightmare. The backroad to the hospital is a dirt road, so small town. The toilet paper is non existent in the stores now. Lol, hope those attending the festival have BYOTP.
Edit: The judge just declared Local Disaster and cancelled the huge Antiques event. This is a relief as I live directly between the Event and the hospital. Having compromised health is no fun. It’s would be a doubleheader for me As I have Olfactory Lobe Abnormality and Chemical Sensitivities. The disinfectants and the perfume and EO and air fresheners would make me die faster than the virus.

Photography has always been an interest of mine. I became more serious about it because I also love art. I found I preferred using my own photos as an art reference rather than ones scoured from magazines that the copyright is someone else’s. Now I can get precise shots of what I need and not “Oh well that’s kinda sorta close to what I needed.
A good example of that scenario is when my sister who loves oil painting seen a typical Wolf painting. This wolf was depicted laying down and peering over a mountain edge. Sis and my mom both tried to paint that scene and both paintings were desperately off. When they complained of failure I looked at the paintings and the pic of the original and yes the Wolf in the original was wrong too.
I pointed out that the wolf in the painting looked like a skinny dog and had no wolf features. They then looked for wolf pics in that pose and found none.
A couple of years later I took pics of a wolf mix in the same pose with the K3. The neighbor’s wolf mix was laying in my yard chewing a bone.
I plan to add him to a piece of art soon. Now I can mix the two things I love, photography and art.

Thanks, I’ll look that up. Found it growing on a piece of branch, maybe one and a half inches tall. A lot of fallen branch litter, and probably snakes I didn’t wanna know about. Lol.

I wondered why pup kept running and jumping in only this area. Turns out that with the sun at that angle he can see a swarm of insects buzzing around and he likes to jump and try to catch them. He was actually looking up and waiting till the insects buzzed near so he could catch them. one insect is visible right over his shoulder.

I have two resident squirrels in my pine tree in the front yard. One morning I see one of the squirrels across the street at the base of a tree and the neighbor's cat was very close crouching and ready to pounce. It was too far to run across and break it up but then I remembered the warning noise the squirrels make when a cat is present. I started making the same noise and the squirrel took notice and immediately ran up the tree to safety. It was hilarious as the cat lost out and the squirrel climbed to a safe distance and started his own warning noise.

I can call White wing and Mourning doves and they answer back. So what does Mockingbird song do? That has to confuse a multitude of birds including parakeets and cockatiels, lol.

Is there a third party ring flash that works decent? Although I will try the DIY diffuser I would like the option of a nice ring flash.

I have an odd set of circumstances. I have an extreme intolerance to most all fragrances including that of Essential Oils. (Olfactory Abnormality) (severe Hyperosmia) (sheesh, an inability to breath near fragrances) This makes nearly all buildings, stores, offices, people’s homes, bathrooms inaccessible to me unless I wear a mask to breathe. The mask still doesn’t keep me from having an exposure rash to the chemicals in the air fresheners, perfumes, and dryer sheets. Problem is wherever I want to go to practice photography there is also fragrances and lack of safe restroom access. Think nuclear chemical air freshener in all bathrooms. So what I did is set up my yard with Rupert’s bird and squirrel cheater sticks idea. Unfortunately I can only photograph the birds that I can manage to draw to my yard but I do have the most bird active yard in my part of town. This includes a feral chicken that cleans up after the birds. I can move perches around, the yard is like a set that I can change things out to make the scenery different. Any other ideas would be welcome. Still trying finding ways around this disability and practice photography too.

Tips for photographing “a none more black” dog?

Not always easy when they perch partly in the shade and partly in the sun.

---------- Post added 03-12-19 at 08:37 PM ----------

I had a breeder ask me to photograph her expensive dogs. She can fork out money for travel, handlers, shows, hotel rooms, artificial insemination for puppies, etc... but not the pro photographer.... Lol, I said no. Mostly because at that time I was not into cloning out collars and leashes and whatever else, and I knew about the posing in the stacked formation etc. It’s just not what I wanted to do.

---------- Post added 03-12-19 at 08:49 PM ----------

Her dog will probably be used to standing on a pedestal and not have a problem with it. She will probably apply a very shiny product on the dogs coat. I have a hard time photographing my dog Ricoh as his black spots are super shiny and the sun makes every black hair into a bright highlight. The same black hair in the shade becomes a dark dark dark shadow... ughhhhh, when dappled natural light is on him it’s a nightmare. Then factor in that he is never still, even when standing he vibrates as he breathes like a idling engine.

Selfie Harm - asocial media photography impact

I personally dealt with this when one of my grandchildren was placed in my care. The preteen child’s social media usage was off the wall and unmonitored. The child was trying to emulate a singing star who had much altering surgery and makeup and who used vulgar language and didn’t know that most females wore clothes that covered them. Yes very much trying to put their self on different social medias with filtered looks and not eating for days to be painfully thin is harmful physically and mentally. The worst part was the 300...
Let me type that again... over 300 followers on the child’s one social media, 300 persons none of whom were family members or school friends. One day my underage grandchild, who I had 95% cut off the internet usage because of this, sneaked on my iPad and got on their chat site... and forgot to sign out. the stuff this person was messaging was extremely adult content. I texted back and said...”EXCUSE ME PERVE?” “Do you realize you are texting an underage child?” (Well I know he did) And he proceeded to cuss me out in horrible words. And I reported them and reported it to the police and social workers. So yes, I truly believe that children don’t need to be putting themselves out there on social media made up like adults because it has the possibility of drawing bad people. My grandchild had no interest in making real live friends or having conversation with people sitting in the same room. It was all about what 300 strangers ‘liked’. That’s just messed up!
