I tried very hard! But I failed.😉 And I am very happy with the FA31, FA43, FA77, DA*300 and the Samyang 24mm for the wide end whilst waiting for a new Pentax wide angle prime.

Just a observation... This topic is in the troubleshooting and beginner help part of the forum. Athough I respect anyones wish to express their opinion about Pentax as a camerabrand I suggest there are more suitable parts of the forum for that and concentrate on helping fellow members in this part of Pentaxforums.

Autofocus whilst recording video has ruined quite a lot of shots for me working with a dedicated Sony video camera. Be careful what you wish for...

Wow, that is some power in those waves! And you've captured that really well in most of the photo's. Really impressive stuff. Some photo's look a bit over processed on my monitor.

Well this series showcases a distinctive style of post processing and good photography. And it works very well for me.

Thanks Joi! I alway's have to be careful not to go overboard with processing a photo. Textures can become to detailed and unnatural. So thanks for that compliment!

Thanks! This photo was pretty popular with people from the other side of the sea on the island of Ameland

We haven't had any real winter weather for some years now. But finally in march cold air from Russia moved in and for a fleeting moment it seemed we had an old fashioned cold front. It didn't last very long but enough to see some serious ice and snow in and along the Waddensea. So bring on the firewood, crank up the heating and enjoy!:)

Cheers,

Remco

2. Snow drift on a sea dike

3. Snow catcher (focusstack)

4. Moonlight over the Waddensea

5. Sea of ice (with the DFA150-450 and the K-3)

24mm for K1

If you donít mind manual focus the Samyang 24mm F1.4 could be a contender. I use it for landscapes so I am kind of hovering between infinity and hyperfocal and donít need autofocus. If you check some of my recent photo threads you can get a feel for what this lens is capable of on a K-1. At least in my hands. Since the new Pentax wide angle prime lens is not on the market yet this lens convinced me to buy the K-1 anyway.

Is HD video from a K3 normally this awful?

Rob I donít think the Apple software is the main reason for any difference in quality. Most of my nature&landscape stuff is used by my employer, a regional broadcasting station, and edited with Avid Newscutter on pcís. So the platform doesnít matter but perhaps the general quality of the software does. And shooting good quality video in general has itís own challenges just as shooting stills. Iív written a tutorial about shooting video with the K-3 but unfortunately it is on a members only section on a forum and in Dutch!😉

I am a moderator on a Dutch language Pentax forum and ended up there trough a Dutch Pentax user on this forum. It's a small world after all...:)

Just to add some recent footage to the discussion about the video quality of the K-3 I have a recent feature I shot with the DA*16-50 and the DFA150-450: Drie kunstenaars verblijven op vogeleiland Griend | Omrop Frysl‚n. The sometimes strange sounds in the background only make sense if you understand the Dutch language. It was a drab, cold and wet day and that is reflected in the footage. Shooting with a tripod in salt water and in a nature reserve requires a camera that can handle those environmental challenges. My K-3 with the appropriate weather sealed lenses does that very well. For projects outside the stuff I do for my employer I also use Final Cut Pro X and I echo the findings by Clarity above. This video was edited in Avid.

Good combination with the mountains further on. (On the right hand side there seems to be a particle of dust on your sensor.)

Paul, thanks for you contributions to this forum. I'll really miss your take on things. I am not active in the topics where all the negativity is on full display. But I do read them and value the fellow members that give a voice to those that have a more sane approach to it all. It may seem like you are drowning in a sea of discontent but there are probably more people like me in the background that are likeminded but less inclined to intervene.

I think it was to keep de sheep where they are. They use the dike as a pasture and with low tide they could escape using the seabed. But the way I framed it, it looks a bit odd.;) Thanks!

Thanks Heinrich!
