Algonquin Park is almost like my backyard, I can walk to it right out the back door. To where this image was taken it would be 10 KM, but, it's a Texas sized back yard.

It was a glorious day to go to the park, so I went.

It is now about one year I sold my Audi A6. Since than I only use carsharing. It is a bit more expensive and less comfortable but I realized that my car was standing a lot and it is ecological bs to produce a car and having it standing around.
Last year I travelled about 4000km by bike. Never felt better in my life! For businesstrips I do not need my own car either.

A few of Mabel and Daisy. Camera is K-1 in all instances, lenses listed beneath each photo:

Daisy falling asleep sitting up, as she sometimes does. SMC-M 50mm f/1.7.

Mabel, watching the rain fall. SMC-M 50mm f/1.7.

Mabel, enjoying our recently-acquired chair. SMC-M 50mm f/1.7.

Daisy, gazing. One of my favourites of her. D-FA 100mm f/2.8 Macro WR.

M42 adapter problems
Posted By THoog

The screw for the spring is actually one of the biggest problems on the cheap adapters - it should be just about flush, but is frequently sticking out where it can snag on the mount. Besides the spring, the machining on the cheap adapters is frequently not as good as the genuine Pentax. Check for burrs on the ends of the bayonet flanges. You may also want to compare the flanges to a K-mount lens to make sure they have been machined to the correct widths. If you have removed the spring and screw, and there is any sort of scraping sound/feel when installing the adapter, something is sticking out and needs to be removed.

Perfectly back lit.
I've seen photographers spend a half hour trying to get the lighting like that.

A tribute to my Pentax

It is a small tribute to my dear Pentax K-5 who is already 10 years old and here he continues to give me satisfaction and as I am grateful for things well done, I dedicate this drawing to the camera that has spent more years with me.
A modern samurai, Japanese (like a K5) and hunter ... of images, of course! A cool image to wear on my shirt

And silver edition!

Greetings to all! :D:D:D

Going b-a-n-a-n-a-s. First dabble with Topaz Denoise AI and I'm very pleasantly surprised with the results. A very capable software and one I can see myself using a lot.

Thank you for the encouragement, Timb64 and mtngal. I've shot a lot of pictures over the years, but still feel inadequate when I come to a place like this. But, as I do enjoy viewing other people's photos, I should contribute mine, as feeble as they are. It was, for the most part, a pretty day in NE Ohio, but this area is subject to lake effect snow squalls at any time. This road is not plowed in winter, so I was driving through 12-14" of snow anyway, then this started:

I was initially impressed with DA 16-45 because of it's corner to corner sharpness throughout it's range. But images from that lens just did not wear well with me over time. There was just something lacking in terms of clarity, contrast, color when compared to other Pentax lenses like the DA 12-24, DA 17-70, DA 16-85, FA 20-35, not to mention the star and limited lenses. I ended up replacing it with the FA 20-35.

A general adage regarding lenses is to get the best lens you can afford. Don't go cheap unless you absolutely have to. The best zoom lenses with wide angle coverage would be the DA* 11-18, the DA 16-85, the DA* 16-50, and the DA 20-40, followed by the DA 12-24 and DA 17-70.

I see the DA 15 as a specialist lens. It's harder to use than the zooms, and not just because it's a prime. It can be challenging to sharpness out of the lens away from the center, particularly at long distances, and my copy is never tack sharp at the very far edges or the corners. But if used right it's better at producing images with high impact than any of the zooms (with the possible exception of the DA* 11-18) listed above.

Here's a shot with the DA 15 taken at Patrick's Point SP:

Shelties are very good at "cute" and "pretty." Dahlia also has a very sweet, quiet, gentle, affectionate disposition. She comes begging to get on my lap routinely after dinner, and there lies on her back in supreme security and comfort, luxuriating in a tummy rub. She's an easy dog to like.
