Question Marketplace Communications

Trying to figure out what is going on.

I've been trying to communicate with a seller who listed an item in the marketplace listings that I'm interested in. I got a reply to my PM asking where I am located, then all communication seemed to stop. He says in the main listing thread he cannot contact me, without naming anyone, and so far nothing seems to have gone through since then. I started a second PM, nothing yet. No names have been posted, no price discussions, that took place in PM, as far as I can tell, we've done nothing that violates the marketplace rules.

I know I haven't been around for a while, haven't had an internet connection for quite a while, and having to use a smart phone now, which is not exactly my cup of tea.

But I should be good to go, I've been a member over 10 years, well over the 1000 post threshold, (over 2000) no reason I know of our PM messages may have been stopped, except maybe that I have been AWOL for 2 or 3 years, maybe that is raising questions. I lurk a little now and then but haven't done any posting. Pictures eat up a lot of bandwidth and that's limited, prepaid phone.

So I'm wondering what is going on, I can't seem to get communication going with someone I'd like to purchase an item from.

Thanks. Not sure if I'll be posting much, just found out Flickr is only allowing 1000 photos now, which means I'm about to lose over 600, no idea where to find other hosting options, fickr has been a PITA after their changes the last time I used it anyway...of course that was 2 years ago, no telling how much worse it is now...but I'll be checking in now and then anyway.

Thematic Tiny Flowers

dlh - The "yellow things behind the Chicory" is Coreopsis. Very common where I Live, and way too big for this, the Tiny Flowers thread, so is Chicory. Most of these probably are, please try to limit your submissions to anything smaller than a dime. Some of the very small white ones in the middle picture might be more like what this thread is about, they look a little like some very small flowers here in Texas but I can't be sure.

I haven't been around for quite a while, so I haven't been keeping up, no internet, but I may be able to check in a bit more often these days. The idea for this thread is the smallest flowers you can find.

Actually I'm surprised it's still running...3 years now? I don't know, I've slept since then...

Sorry but I screwed up. It's actually Texas Toadflax, not Vervain, don't know why the wrong name popped into my head. It's still blooming here in my wildflower patch too.

I think I found it. Have them in the yard and up the street on the morning bike ride. I think its a type of vervain, same ones I see here. Can't find a picture right now not sure if tablet will do 2 tabs. Not good with it yet. Check this thread I should have some from a while back.

Sorry, don't know what that one is and don't have my flower book with me. I'll look through a couple of books and see if anything jumps out at me.

If you can get a wider shot with some of the leaves too, that might help.

By the way I think I see a couple of sensor spots at bottom left.

Macro Disassembled tele-zoom front elements used as diopters: anybody trying this?

I just got a PM from photolady, sorry I wasn't around.

I've been using a binocular lens for macro work since 2010 or so. I took the objective lens off a pair of junk binoculars, it fits snugly on a 50mm lens with 49mm filter ring, and works quite well. Focusing distance is rather close, 6 inches or so, and image quality is very good. Here's an example, if i can get the new Flickr link to work...

I use extension tubes a lot too, with a 135mm lens. You can also get teleconverters fairly cheap and remove the glass, instant extension tube.

I can't find my picture of the binocular lens rig ready to go, but it just slips onto the front of the lens, the rubber covering grips well enough it rarely falls off. As with any form of macro photography the depth of field is pretty slim, otherwise it's about the same as shooting without it, but I have to use a card to reflect the flash downward if I use flash.

You get a K1 in the mail and we just get bills...it ain't fair!

Hummers are still here, I had at least 5 in the yard yesterday. These shots are from a couple of days ago, right outside the back door.

Might have posted some of these already, can't remember. CRS is hitting me had this morning...

Macro of a flower..ok how about two flowers? Henbit, about the size of a match head. 135mm lens and extension tubes, I think about 55mm of tubes.

Got me digging into the old pictures...

Anhinga. Almost identical to a Cormorant, but the Cormorant has a turned down crook at the tip of the bill. Anhinga has a straight bill.

Ruby Throated Hummingbirds around my feeder in 2013, end of summer during migration. I had about 8 or 9 crowding around 2 feeders.

Can we use a butterfly here? I don't think it was specified. Will remove if requested.

White Pelicans on a foggy day, I'm pretty sure the previous pelicans shown were Brown Pelicans. I'm sure the shot posted by Riggomatic was a Brown Pelican. I never see those here, only on the coast. White Pelicans migrate here every winter.

Woodduck drake.

OK enough for now, I should have plenty for this thread, I concentrate mostly on birds.

That's why I got it. I had the 4 port type in your picture, still have about 3 of them, but every time I try to take pictures they hide on the back side and I get nothing. So I got these and haven't used the larger ones in 3 or 4 years. Works perfect, they only have one place to go. I get these at the dollar store. I had to twist the wire hanging this one so it would hang in a different direction, it got no eye reflection at first. I made up an angle iron hanger 15 years ago when I was a machinist, put it right outside the kitchen window. Another feeder just like it is on the clothesline about 30 yards away.

Today I got some shots of one I think is an immature male with his first couple of red feathers turning, haven't uploaded them to the computer yet though. I think these are the young ones staying around till they have to migrate, happens every year. Did see a mature male today too but no pictures, he left too quick. I can stand 6 feet away at the back door, 135mm lens works great, 2:30PM I get full sunlight. I hope to have the new shots uploaded tomorrow, I forgot today.
