I like the S-M-C better than the Super. A bit less soft wide open and operating better. I have both, but that could also be copy variation. The Super I got virtually for free in a lot of 7 lenses I got for the Tamron 19AH that was in it. If you want a sharp from wide open lens take a look at the SMC Pentax-m 50mm 1:1.7 Cheap and excellent and underrated by the market. I actually once bought a CZJ Pancolar 50/1.8 from spain fo not a lot so it is possible to find good lenses over there. Also many English and Northern European elderly selling there stuff from Spain.

Full frame is a considerably larger step up from aps-c than cropped MF is from 35mm. In that sense it is not overhyped. It is just that people think high megapixel count make a smaller sensor into a bigger sensor. It doesn't

I don't think it makes a lot of sense any more. Ricoh hasn't updated the lens roadmap since 2017. They have definitely dropped the ball. Unless you can get a good price on a used one with the lenses you need. Most still have aperture rings, so can be adapted to GFX in future.

The Vivitar series 1 28-90mm inspired me to test the Kiron 28-85mm 1:2.8-3.8. A similar design (varifocal) also available in Vivitar, just not series 1. Komine won that crown. My copy has a broken aperture (wide open, fungus and separation) But otherwise it can be used.

Anyone noticed HD 31 mm lost one element....?

You can't just take out the rear element without any changes to the rest of the rear group, so this is obviously some mistake

I like plenty of vintage zooms. Tamron Adaptall-2 series e.g. Pentax has some excellent vintage zooms as long as you stay away from the cheap kit zooms. Komine and Kiron made zooms are usually good. Tokina can also be very OK. It is the cheap third party brand zooms that gave them their bad name.

Another Vivitar series 1. The 28-90mm 1:2.8-3.5 macro focus by Komine. Note the distance markings on the lens body instead of the focus/zoom ring.

I fish those out of the dungeons of Yahoo.co.jp via Buyee.com often under the import VAT and handling cost limit of 22 Euro (Sadly that will be over from Juli) but I also found quite a lot of lenses that are much rarer in Europe and would have cost me quite a lot more over here unless you get lucky.

In need of some attention. Hazy inside and a couldn't wipe of the damage on the front element. Maybe it is on the rear of the element. Cost me only 100 yen (before shipping 'n stuff :p) XR Rikenon 70-150mm 1:4

Thanks. I already had it stored as a project, but I always fear I will just totally mess it up. It seems to have gotten even worse now it is not just slow but practically stuck. Only manually handling the lever will make it close.

Which reminds me of the super slow aperture blades of my Komine version.... That also has a Ricoh pin, but nothing to worry about. Only some crappy cheap third party glass has a Ricoh pin that will catch. It needs to be rounded and receded. If it is squared of don't use the lens or try to remove the pin (without loosing the a contact or the little aperture ball bearing :p.)

Tamron Adaptall-2 35-135mm 1:3.5-4.2 22A Is not very sharp at closest focussing (1:4) but it gets increasingly better as the distance gets longer. But this is about the Bokeh 135mm F4.2
