Why I will buy a K-3 III

It's OK to like other stuff. If you feel that you've out grown your system, then move on and don't look back. The most important thing is you like what you have. But my advice to you is, look at the system that you want to go to. Understand how it works well and make sure that that is the right one. Then do the shift. It will be quite expensive jumping from one system to the next if you won't make the right choice. Good luck.

Well look at this!!! Another mirrorless entrant with so much confusion. Canon E-mount with m4/3 sensor to produced by a flash company. I mean holy mackerel!! Can you imagine what kind of R&D they did on this camera? This is monstrosity!!!

I totally agree. Pentax should keep the k-mount if it goes mirrorless. A lot of us here are heavily invested on the mount and the followers might turn to the dark side if they decide to abandon it.

I think Pentax will be my last system if they keep the k-mount. It's just too costly to keep on changing systems.

Understanding how foolish it is to make sweeping claims about autofocus

Measuring to the last millisecond will only establish which one is fastest. I believe it's an advantage to have a faster AF.C. But, it won't make that much difference if my camera can track the subject and capture the images correctly as a camera from another brand with the faster AF.C. The difference would be minimal. It sometimes turn out to be bragging rights.

How good is Pentax AF tracking?

He likes Canon, she like Nikon, the other guy likes Sony. Somebody else likes Fuji. Each person has his or her choice. Pentax may not be as fast but, it's not as bad as what others say. Just do a research or ask a question. Someone will teach you what to do and, you won't be disappointed. I've learned the techniques how to use my k-3II for action shots here at pentaxforums.com.

(Un)popular Opinion: Pentax AF Doesn't Suck

Actually you gave me one of the tips clackers. I followed your advise to use spot or SEL to minimize the focus points so as not to confuse the camera as there will be a lot of focusing points confusing the camera and some might focus on the wrong areas. I also followed C_Jones' recommended settings on the K-3II. Yet when I tried it, I still got blurred shots only to diagnose that the my shutter speed was slow on some occasions especially during an overcast or when I failed to notice that the light was getting dim. Of course I use aperture priority most of the time. So I found out that it wasn't the tracking that was wrong. On bright days using aperture priority would give me a good shutter speed to freeze the images.

Then, Someone also recommended using TAv. Welllllllll. I tried it and it's perfect. So on poor lighting days, TAv is perfect. Sorry for the CanikonyFu guys. But we have it in Pentax technology.

I've tried a friends D7200 with his Tamron lenses and I agree, the AF.C licks my K-3II and k-5II. But that's not the end of the world. It took me quite a while to find the k-3II usable for AF.C mode. It was after some tips from the guys in this forum that I finally understood how to use the camera for action shots. From about 60%-70% success rate, I ended up to about 90% success rate. It's not perfect but, I don't think it's that bad.

Assess what you want to do with your camera. Then decide on which system matches your needs. Don't be swayed by opinions. In the end, it's your opinion that will count. The most important thing is, you like and are comfortable using what you have.

It took me quite a while to understand the k-3II compared to my k-5II. Now, I like it a lot. Pentax offered what I need so I'm staying. People often would criticized why I chose Pentax. I guess some were silenced when I won my son's school photo contest, parent category. Our team color coordinator asked me what's my camera as he was surprised with the image quality it produced. I simply said Pentax.

I'm tired of shifting brands. Like I always whined about, I hope Pentax survives this.game.

Pentax K3II + Yangnuo YN560-III

You'll need a flash extension mount when using Yongnou 560 flash models on the k-3ii. Firstly the k-3ii prism size increased to accommodate the GPS. Secondly all Yongnou flashes have a sort of extended body towards the base making it impossible to mount the flash on the k-3ii. The extension mounts are available and Pentax has one. I have one and I use it when using my 560ii on my k-3ii.

As for PTTL, you can buy the 565EX. Yongnou made it for Pentax cameras. You won't have issues mounting it on the k-3ii. But, I still recommend using the extension mount as the clearance between the flash and body is still minimal. A slight press will still push the flash towards the prism. And, I wouldn't want to scratch my camera. 565Ex costs a little more but it's a gray flash for its features and its price.

For me, I did some research prior to buying next system after my Olympus 4/3. I chose what I like and plan to stick with it it. My style is growing into the system. Accumulating my arsenal little by little. Growing into the system is growing old with it. I chose Pentax. I hope the k-mount will continue till I die. I hope this will be my last system.

Having 2 or more systems is quite expensive and difficult to maintain.

I had a visitor from Olympus Singapore. We are using their Endoscopy system. I was surprised they said that Sony isn't that popular in Singapore. It's either true or they just don't like to say that Sony is ahead of them in the camera business.

Another year has passed for our Dinagyang Festival. The festival is a challenging event for photographers. Photographers come from all over the country and would wake up at 3:00 am to be at the stage by 4:00 am to have the best seat in the house despite the fact that the contest starts at 9:00 a.m. I was the only one using Pentax. Canikon dominated the scene and there were 2 Sony. We're still rare. Let's see what 2019 will give Pentax. I hope there will be a great boost for users.

I've started using TAv mode for action shots and at first it seemed okay. Then all of a sudden, all the pictures that I took became overexposed. I shifted back to Aperture priority and found my shots to have perfect exposure. Shifting back to TAv after still results to overexposure. What did I do wrong? Can anyone help?
Pardon me for my ignorance. :o Thanks

Man, if I were a beginner I would be confused with all of these models. If the differences in each model isn't big enough, I think it's a waste of resources and I'm sure there are unprofitable models. I like the way Pentax offers their cameras, 1 FF, 2 -3 APSC bodies which are clearly differentiated from one another.

If there will be a Pentax brand it will be inside where Pentax cameras and equipment will be displayed. I know a lot of us don't like to have RICOH in our camera. However, the truth is they own Pentax. To me I wouldn't care less as long as they keep producing Pentax cameras and lenses.

DP Review puts K-1 Mark II as second worst camera of 2018

Pentax is being bullied because it's the smaller company. No big brand or big brand endorser will allow a smaller brand to win. Bashing is the only solution to put down the smaller brand despite the evidence at hand. They will point to smaller brands weakness and justify whatever reason they have to put it down.

If you can wait, next year Pentax may come up with surprises. Who knows, the k-3II replacement might come next year. If you can't, I'd say KP if you have the funds or the k-70 if you're on a budget. I wouldn't go for the older models. Future proof your gears. There may be some updates and it is to your advantage if you have the newer models.
