How about a small USB powered fan (a quiet one) blowing across the back of the camera with the screen tilted up out of the way? Might just keep temp down enough.

Would using the battery grip give the run time and would it switch batteries without dropping the wifi?
I have no idea.

I say as a reminder of the "giver" each time you use it, then do it. If the money is an extra above necessities then do it. If it goes pear shaped and you hate it then you can sell it on and find something else to remind you.

What I need is for you to prove the k3iii is a flop so I can quell the hunger for one😁
Great job and thank you for all this effort. It looks initially that Pentax has got AF under control and delivering the goods.👍

Hello Billy
If I understand correctly, the accelerator chip in the MK2 has no effect below 400 ISO but if you have 2 identical lenses, you might try a side by side test of both K1s and see for yourself if this is the case with your night photography.

To steal a quote "Reports of my death have been greatly exaggerated."
It looks like Pentax are subscribing to "You can't go broke making a profit." And are intending to leverage profits in an established market. As long as they remember that sometimes you have to spend dollar to make two dollars. I suspect that they know this as they have been doomed for years. Yet they're still here.
Good info for us myoptic westerners.😊

As a constant eBay lurker the Pentax version sell from $550 up
Sometimes they are included in camera bundles which can be sold off to reduce the price. Looking at about $100+ difference can you get a second hand Nikon body with similar specs to your K10?

It seems that what you are describing are cameras that should be called EVIL. Electronic viewfinder interchangeable lens.
For me EVIL describes it perfectly 😁

Look online for second hand stores. Pawn brokers etc. Recently here in Australia there was one for $150 AUD.

Have you tried the Pentax app for remote shooting?(image sync)
Does the cable remote active AF and is this what's triggering the AF issues?
If you have a wr zoom lense, you might try mounting it fully extended and with the remote port open, quickly retract the lense. This pump of air may blow the port clear from the inside.

It was a suggestion as it might be quicker to grab a couple lenses with ring than fix the camera, depending on time constraints. Wide angle could be an issue, but from 28mm upwards, there's a plethora of reasonable quality at a reasonable price. Of course this rating depends upon the user's expectations.

I understand that using lenses with aperture rings allows you to still take pictures. It just means a bit slower.

Don't forget the flash pinion which also breaks and stops the spring from holding the flash up. Then there is the problem of the film winding gear that can also fail.
While I do like the MZ series, particularly the 3, 5, 5n, 6 and 7,
It seems that the plastic used for important bits was not designed to last. I don't know if you are intending to offer a repair service but I doubt that the MZ 30,50 and 60 would fetch a price to make it viable. However I am more than willing to be proved wrong 😊

Unfortunately a result of our capitalism. Possibly you can sell some stuff you don't want to help fund this repair. I wish you all the best.

This hood is local stock in Australia on eBay and is a whopping $20.99 delivered as opposed to $70??? For the genuine. The lens cost me $120 so I didn't really want to spend that much on the hood. On the other hand if it was a $500+ lense then it wouldn't be an issue. Humans are weird creatures.🤪

Apart from walking closer to infinity another suggestion is as you are using manual focus, if you remove the mount, sometimes it is possible to remove the screw drive rod which might allow the front to rotate that fraction more if it is the drive gear running out of rack length. It is more than 15 years ago that I dismantled mine so I can't be certain that this is a possibility.
The question on the filter had more to do with optical interference rather then physical. I personally have given up on filters unless absolutely necessary for a given situation as I found a to me perceived lack of sharpness when using them. YMMV

This solution might give infinity if it is because back/front focus. Won't work if Lens is physically "short".
I have pulled one of mine apart and cannot remember if there is any adjustment possible. I think it is possible to remove the part that the hood fastens too but you might have to get right inside to make any adjustments to the focus throw.
Sometimes a filter will impact focus so make sure to test without.

A quick search on the web reveals that Lens and lense are recognised in the English speaking world and like the hoods in question, interchangeable😊

Hello all
Got an HD 55-300 without hood and was wondering if the SMC version hood will fit. They have different part numbers so they have some differences. The question is does it stop the SMC hood working including reversing for storage on the HD lense or is it something more subtle like length?
Reason I ask is that the SMC version is available as aftermarket and the HD I can only find OEM.
Thanks in advance
