Thinking about buying a DA 35mm f:2.4 AL

Had both DA50mm and DA35mm and they are both good lenses. But in the end I sold them since I didn't use them enough. (Got the FA50mm Macro and Fujinon XF 35mm)
But you can't beat the price and quality for the DA 50 and 35mm so if you have the extra cash I would go for it.
I do envy luftfluss who got the DA 35mm macro as a Christmas gift, always wanted to try out that lens :)

I would go for the DA 50mm, just because it's F1.8
Or save up money for the FA31mm.

I would go for the 18-250mm lens or why not the Tamron 18-200mm lens?

International travel, is it worth upgrading from K-30 to K-3/3ii?

If you don't plan to go hiking I would not think you would use your 55-300mm lens on your trip to Japan.
I never find the use for a longer lens when I am in a big city like Tokyo or Kyoto but everyone has their own style when taking photos.

*Sigh* Been thinking about light field photography and Lytro since they announce their first version of the Lytro camera... and to my surprise, this Black Friday they had it on a huge sale in Sweden. Was able to grab a Lytro Illum for less than 240 USD.
Since it's December I havn't had the time to play around with it much so I will give you guys an update here later.

How many lenses do you have for your MX?
Fujifilm lenses are not that cheap and that's the sole reason I haven't invested more into it...

Trip to the Tropics: Fungus concern??

I've been travelling to a lot of humid places in Asia for longer period of times and so far I have not got fungus on any of my photo equipment.
I would recommend to bring some extra silica pads and place in your camera and lens bag. And make sure your gear is stored where there is some ventilation.
The ceiling fans should be enough as you will not be there for a long period of time.

Bring a UWA lens, a macro lens and a telezoom lens to Penang. Great to have if you plan to visit the Butterfly garden or any of the temples there.

I got myself a Fuji X-Pro1 with the 18mm lens. Now I also got the Fujinon 35mm lens.
Was considering a Ricoh GR or a Fuji X20/30 but was able to find a very good deal on a new X-Pro1 body and 18mm lens.
Very happy as it's such a good and much smaller camera than my K-30 and K-3.
Brought my K-3 and my Fuji on a recent trip to Japan and to be honest I used the Fuji 75% of all my shoots.
You might want to have a look at the upcoming X-T10 as well. A lot of feat at a good price.
Just my 2 cents.

@severalsnakes

Can you give me your feedback regarding the grip of the K-S2 vs the K-30? Not a single store in Stockholm has it in stock so can't get my hands on it and try it out...
I hope it's not smaller than the K-30.

Not sure if this is posted yet.

Taken from their homepage:
Product Description

The first macro twin light equipped with GN-190 (feet in ISO100). Rapid Recycle Time, Flexible arms & Light Weight make it perfect for macro photography.
The new Macro Twin Flash KX-800 is specially designed for the use of macro photography. It features a combined guide number of 190 (in feet) with 8 levels of power adjustment.

Powers can be adjusted independently in the left and right flash. The high output makes it extremly handy for macro photographers who shoots under small aperture and high magnification ratio.

Quick recycle time (2 sec) also helps in shooting in a volatile environment.

On top of that, the Macro Twin Flash is built with two 48cm long flexible arms. This gives photographers complete flexibility to position the flash for the best performance.

A LED focusing light is equipped for focus assistance.

The whole system weigh only 1 pound, making it a very portable gear for bringing around.

Flexible Macro Twin Flash KX800 | Venus Optics - Specialist in Macro Photography

Might give this a go.

Cheers
