Oh my yes! It was one of the two lenses I bought to go with the K100D when I was starting out. It produced some pretty good shots under the right conditions--and taught me a lot about photography!

I trust I'm not the only photographer who swears at warblers. I spent days trying to catch this )&%*# as he flitted from branch to branch in the shadows. Here's my best--if I'd caught him a fraction of a second sooner, you'd see the little ^&()#$% was sticking his tongue out at me.

Helpful post about sharpening Walter! What about noise reduction? At least for me, noise becomes an even more significant issue in the 4/3 context. I used to use Topaz Denoise and was very happy but I hit one of those %&#*[#@ hardware/software/photo system incompatibility bumps so I'm looking for a new solution. What do you use?

Of course everyone is welcome to take a crack at this.

First Great Crested Flycatcher of the year. So refreshing after weeks of trying catch to warblers flitting in the shadows!

I was afraid you'd ask. It's EITHER the 300/4 + 1.4x (handheld) OR 300/2.8 + 2x (tripod).
Yeah, I know: "Who in their right mind would have both?" To which the only answer is: "Nobody." :o

Ok, I'm back from my winter hibernation. Since the demise of my Magic Bird Tree, I sold off the FA*600/4 and migrated to an Olympus Micro 4/3 system. Now in my late 70s, I like the portability but noise (grain more than color noise) can be an issue and the menus drive me nuts! Good gear though: this flicker was in a tree 2x as far as the lamented dead white oak and the image is a 2.10mp crop (of the 24mp original.)

Not every day I get to go to an NCAA Division 1 Championship game practically in my backyard with a "home team" to root for.

I didn't do very well as far as the photography is concerned BUT the home team did just fine. :D

Not a very good photo but exciting anyway--my first ever sighting of a Yellow-Billed Cuckoo, not withstanding that I'm told they're fairly common around here.
