Irix 15mm f/2,4 for full frame K-mount

Hi,

saw both lenses at PK yesterday. Be assures. Both lenses may absolutely not be compared.

Completely different. The IRIX guys stated that their 15mm is aiming at Astro-photography and landscape. Hence the digits are well readable even in dark and a special attention is to a ultimate performance in infinity.

However, having the lens on the K-1 is a dream. Built like a tank and with a F5.6 it is sharp as hell. But focusing manually with F2.8 need a lot of experience. You have to figure it our and with a short test there, the result was not completely satisfying to me. But this is a user failure and not that of the lens!

I like it, though the Laowa 12mm is much more handy and smaller.... hmm hard choices to be taken :o

Irix 11mm f/4 full frame in K mount

Hi,

I was with the IRIX guys yesterday at Photokina.

The15mm is reality already, had it on my K-1. It is huge, built like a tank. And if put sharp correctly it is sharp. As per F5.6 this seems to be a little issue only.

The 11mm was presented as pre-production model. Size-wise it is like the 15mm. but the front-lens is a real pop-eye. We tested it on a Nikon750 and it was really impressive. You've got an awesome lot of stuff on your sensor with it.

Maybe it may appear by end of the year and the goal is to maybe get a price tag somewhat near to EUR 1000. This is not confirmed, but that's where they are heading.

Keep in mind, each lens is at ca. 750g, not quite a lightweight :)

Sigma announcement about K-1 lens issue

Hello,

I tried to figure out what may be the issue of Sigma. Neither my 35,50 nor 85mm /1,4 showed a problem.

However it may be thinkable, that a lens may be pushed out at the upper of the mount very slightly, which I could not really see. It sghould be really measures out.
However I made a rough picture of this problem, but I am not the real PS crack.

However here it is:

K-1 3rd-party lens compatibility

Hello,

we could test the two lenses today on another body and both worked smooth on this body.

However we remarked that I have a certain free gap on the mount of 1/10th mm and both lenses are not as tight on my mount as on the other.
Could someone who has a similarproblem test if the leses are also a liitle more loose and not completely tight.

I contacted Pentax Germany to ask how to proceed further as all other of my lenses ( +20 pcs.) work fine.

Can anyone with a K-1 give me a review of the AF?

Hi,

I do own the K-1.

As I am only having it only for y few day I could only make a funtion testing with it. So far I tested the SIgma 35/50/85 1,4 lenses and the Pentax FA*85 and DA*55 / 1,4 lenses.
As far as I may tell, they work perfect with "still" objects.

The viewfinder is that big and clear it helps very much and I could not see any AF running. Point and shoot!

I still have to look thoroughly at it but my first impression is very positive. I have to admit, that I did not yet try it with moving objects. Is still on my to do list.

At f 2,8 it works great, which I could test with the D-FA 24-70 and 15-30. Both are great. Hope it helps a little.

Deat all,

I want to share some new Photos here.

Though I was said to shot much like Macro only ans hence it was impossible to judge the Bokeh of this lens, I think I did right.

To isolate frontobjects from the background is the main use for such a lens and thus, you often have larger thing in the front and the background is farther off. Nonetheless, I horp, that my newly added Photos show some or this superb lens.

It is razor sharp from f 1.4, unfortunately, the pictures, that are not sharpened for the forum too aggressive, can´t give rendition to that. But they are great in original! YOu can believe that.

SO enjoy.

Ok, will try to post my photos here:

I still have to try it out in better weather conditions, but I really like its crsiyness so far.

@Mistral75 Merci beaucoup de votre aide, c´est apprécié! Je montre les photo ici aussi. Meilleures salutations d´Allemagne.

About mentioning the sharpness only: This is to me the most important point. All arguments concerning faithful colour rendition are absolutely correct. But I can change that via software. But not the sharpness of the picture...;)

So I pointed this out in the first place.

But, frankly said, as I owe the other two 1,4s of Sigma too: I like these Sigma lenses, as their colour output is most satisfying and appealing to me.

But this one lens, the new "A" Line is a real pleasure to hold. Although it is composited of metal and synthetics it almost feels like a real ltd. lens. I can strobly recommend it by now. But I´ll hve to wait for fair weather ;-)
