Adam, would you know if premiere elements 12 is more compatible with the K-5 (and later) video files? Im still not happy with the workflow I need to juggle codecs. Thanks, N

Abstract Silver inkjet print

Hi Jadedrakerider,

Thanks. I'm still trying to come to terms with what it looks like myself.
The cloud looks a little like a tintype, the rest like the worst half-tone printing you ever saw.
Let me know if you try some yourself.

Abstract Silver inkjet print

This is a photograph of a print.
The print was printed by an inkjet printer but on traditional silver fibre based paper. Im calling this an inkjet silver print. As such, the image has contined to evolve as it has been exposed to more light, with the whites darkening to grays, with a decided yellow tint. As the paper is coated, the ink did not get absorbed onto the paper, but formed small bubbles which subsequently dried. The result is distinctly low fi, with low resolution of detail. The edges where the ink volume tranistioned from low to high (as at the edges of the clouds) show a curious fractal effect when viewed closely.
I didn't include many technical details as that seems less relevant than the printing process.

I agree. I'd rather take photos than have FF angst.

The lens will be fine for a start. You should try and work out its strengths and weaknesses (plenty to read on that here and elsewhere). Using f8-11 is a great equalizer.

A good tripod will help. See this article by Thom Hogan - it's a bit of a classic. Make sure you use the mirror lock up function whenever possible and do your best to get the exposure right for any post-processing. That might include - using masks, blending exposures, HDR, stitching etc.
Circ polarising filter. They can be bought second hand and, an advantage of the kit lens is that the diameter is quite small. An ND filter can also be of use. Split grad filters will also help.
Time and money for travel to good locations.
Investing some time looking at art to work out what good composition means will not be time wasted.

Good luck and have fun.

Hi Manacho2005, that is my next step. I need to find a Pentax flash in prague - its not the most popular brand here, unfortunately.

For one, I'd love an APS-C 24mm, either f2 or f2.8. The wife's fuji 100x is in danger of being appropriated.

Hi Adam,

Thanks for responding!

When I set the flash to 35 mm format it goes directly to TTL.

Attached a small pic showing the back of the flash. (I went through all of the various sync settings without luck, hence it is currently set on HS).

I'm stumped on this.

Per page 66 of the flash manual it seems fair to think that this flash should work on this camera, yet I have never managed to have it work. Batteries are new (on both) and luckily I have been gifted a baggie of film (about 15 rolls) so it seems like a good time to get it sorted.

The on camera flash does work (exposes OK) so I assume the TTL system is OK.

The flash has worked fine on both my K10d and still works fine on my K5. When I stick it on the MZ-5n, it does not fire, neither on auto or manual, either directly on the camera or via a cable. (the cable works fine on the K5). As it seems like plug and play, I can't see what I might be doing wrong.

The flash does seem to be talking to the camera at some level (e.g. it picks up the focal length of the lens).

Any ideas would be much appreciated.

Hi Adam, could you please clarify the weighting of the individual criteria? For example, are they given equal weighting?
