Escher in the palace museum In The Hague, The Netherlands.
Every room, including this stairwell had the most unusual Crystal Light fittings. This was a globe, one was a bomb, a skull, a large insect etc. Great day out.

Dropped Broken 08 Lens - relieved outcome

I dropped my Q7 / 08 while on holiday.I had a JJC lens hood on.
Fortunatley, it landed on the hood - the hood is quite springy in it's design and I guess it absorbed a lot of the impact. The lens hood however was undamaged.
At the mount end of the lens, the screws that hold on the backplate, all but one snapped/broke meaning the lens sat at about a 10-15 degree angle to the camera.
If I pressed the lens tight to the body, it would work and autofocus at the zoom end but nothing else.

I sent it to this guy in the UK, where I'm from CAMERA REPAIRS, LENS REPAIRS in WEST LONDON , SURREY , TW17 , TW18

We had a few emails first describing the problem and him asking questions. He stripped it down, did his stuff and returned it, without me paying at this time, to test it - he has many cameras to test lenses, but not a Q.

It was fixed!!
The return insured postage was 7.50 and all he wanted was a total of 20 inc the postage. I had to send him a chunk more, and would kinda recommend the guy if you have lens issues in the UK.

At this point, I'm quite happy :)

If you like beautiful but constrained, space wise, buildings like art galleries and museums, it's the only way to get a lot of it in a picture.
I visit these places a lot and use the 08 over 90% of the time.

I though this darker arch and sunny day might stretch the Q7 tiny sensor a bit - probably has really. Still, I got something to keep as a memory. Q7, 09 Lens - Eze, a small village near Nice South France. Jpeg - straightened and a bit of sharpening only.

I hardly ever use the 06 but fitted it this day to my Q7 when at Camden and Camden market, London. A bit of street art. Like how the light shone over this, especially the textured surface.

I love night shots with the Q7 for some reason. Here's one of mine. This is just off a corner of Leicester Square London. The building, higher up had some kind of frosted glass double wall going on higher up - looks kinda dreamy that bit.

A bug is an unintentional side effect to something. Perhaps better to just say it's not for you?

Well I'm not quite 68, but I get the Q with 08 or 02 fitted in one pocket and the other lens, the 06 and a small bean bag in the other pocket. This compromises my 'kit' for a vacation. Very liberating.

Ha! Your right. In fact when it looked like the Q line was dying, I looked at this exact camera. It's all you say, and more. But, but, but, it just didn't have as good a menu/handling set up,I felt I'd be frustrated. So I didn't jump ship. Close though for me. The Nikon 1 line is developing quickly, it's where I'll probably be next.
Love my Q7 though.
J

This was my exact feeling. If ever Nikon get this nailed, the Q sinks into oblivion.

I think the last 3 posts highlight a point that should be/is really obvious. Changes, if we even get a new Q, must be cheap, and appeal to the masses.
WiFi, touch screen, tilt screen, hi res screen, etc.

You could go try it yourself if your that bothered rather than getting someone else to do the work for you.
However, it's a well understood and described phenomenon, you can easily Google it also

If I actually really had a say in Pentax's decision process, I'd go for the benefits of the last few years in design helping, AND dropping to 10MP. A double whammy.
I'd be happy with 10MP.

However even 10 is considered too low in a modern phone, so what chance have we got with a Q :-(

I fully understand the technical side of number is photons poet pixel site.

Never the less, after several years extra development, the 1" (with more pixels )was producing better pictures. I assume other factors come into play that I certainly don't understand in the electronics. Things like sensor design-asking with the micro lenses over the pixel sites, signal loss in the chips. Who knows.

Even with more photons, older chips and circuitry must loose more of the original between sensor and SD card.
I can't help what I saw
