Nothing photography related (I'm under a self-imposed gear buying moratorium) but we've placed deposits for a pair of His & Hers Volvo XC40 Recharge SUV's. On their own they're unlikely to save the planet from a fiery death but at least it's doing something.

Poll: KP eBook...Worth It?

This was pretty much my experience as well. My only real "criticism" of the eBook is that there was too much background about the Pentax "system", photgraphic techniques etc. I'd have preferred that space be used for more explanation about what some of the features of the camera actually did in the real world.

The manual that comes with the camera is basically useless as a learning tool.

I've learned the most about how to use my Pentax digital cameras from Pentax Forums.

One of our big iron ore miners is already trialling an electric haul truck with the aim of having them operating on site starting in 2025. They're also working on what they call an "infinity train" that generates its own power on stretches of the trip to the port so that they don't need to use diesel. I expect that there will be very rapid advances in EV technology over the rest of the 2020's.

Whether it will be enough to save the planet is another question.

Help.....need an IT expert - is my keyboard possessed?

I bought a Lenovo keyboard a while ago but it's always done some really weird stuff when I try and type on it and it's driving me absolutely insane. If I try and type something like, "Carl", I end up with this sort of thing Cccaaaaaaarrrrrlllllllllllll even though I might only type a single letter. When I let go of a key the thing just enters letters without me touching the keyboard. If I try and backspace or delete a letter/s there's a pause and then it starts deleting everything I've typed. It does seem to calm down after a while but surely it shouldn't do this sort of crazy stuff. It makes trying to enter anything a nightmare.

Have I just got a dud keyboard or is there something wrong with the computer itself. Any suggestions gratefully received. Thanks.

The Hetchins Magnum Opus used to be the dogs danglies of custom frames back in the day. And I think the originals still fetch a bucketload of cash if they ever come up for sale. Aren't Mercian still around?

A Tommasini was one of those makes that I always lusted after when I first started riding but could never afford. I was able to finally buy one of their Sintesi frames a few years ago and built it up with 9 speed Ultegra bits from my stockpile. It was painted in their wonderful dark blue snakeskin pattern with the chrome rear end and fork and the ride was terrific. Alas I begrudgingly accepted that it was a bit too small for me and I sold it last year when I decided that I didn't need so many bikes and enough parts to equip a Protour team and I had a clear out.

Tommasini are still at the top of my Italian wish list though.

I'm afraid I can't help with the particular problem you're having but I want to congratulate you on the work you're doing on this project. Tassie is a most beautiful part of the world and the only things that we have found heartbreaking when we have visited was the amount of roadkill and the vast swathes of forest that had been cleared. Just absolutely heartbreaking.

This is my custom Llewellyn that I had made for me in 2006. I'm still rocking 9 speed Ultegra which serves me just fine. To my mind it doesn't get any better than lugged steel and silver components. I still get a kick out of riding this every time I hit the road.

I've moved a DFA 100mm Macro and a silver DA 70mm Limited on to new homes. I didn't use the 100mm as much as I thought I would and the DA 70 is a duplicate (it was more of a vanity purchase to go with my silver KP when I think back about it) so I decided that I didn't really need them after all.

I'm having a long hard think about what I really want (and need) in lenses so I may whittle my DA Limited collection down a bit more and find I can just get by with a few zooms. But it will be hard because the DA's seem like they were just made for the KP.

Forgive me, but I don't see why this should be an issue. By all accounts the 645Z is a great camera and it's capable of producing stunning images if what I've seen on here is anything to go by. Apart from a possible lack of spare parts in the future I can't see any reason why it shouldn't continue to serve a photographer very well for years to come.

I picked up the latest version of the Think Tank Retrospective 7 from a lady who bought it online and it turned out to be too big for her mirrorless gear. Cost me about a third of the retail price and it's as good as brand new with all the bits and pieces that come with it. As soon as I saw it on Gumtree I didn't think it would last long so I arranged to go and have a look this morning. The build quality looks amazing and it should handle anything I can subject it to.

It's for my K3 + DA 16 - 85 / Sigma 10-20 kit but there's going to be plenty of room left over.

Sheesh......a saving is a saving. It's not like you're going to miss out on a ton of interest if you pay up front (which you may not have to do but I haven't asked - might just need a deposit), and it's certainly not going to be more than the discount they're offering.

I saw a good deal from a legit business (one of the few retailers here that still deals in Pentax) so I thought I'd let others know about it - maybe you should let other people make up their mind whether they want to "deposit money for an unknown period in some one else's bank account to finance the next shipment"

No wonder some people leave this place and don't return ;)

True, but it's still a pretty good price (provided you can wait).
