Citizen Cane has always been hailed in cinematography but it works the same for photography in many ways too. The creative use of shadows has always stood out to me.

Welcome to Weekly Challenge #582 - Scenic Nature Landscape
This is a very broad theme as it is as broad as nature. I’m not going to get picky and say no people or man made objects, but they need to not detractor the theme. What I’ll be looking for is an overall pleasing photo, one that you wouldn’t mind hanging on the wall and having it a long time. Let’s get a lot of high quality images.
The fine print:
Every week, a new theme is picked and judged by the winner of the previous week.
The Challenge will run until midnight Friday 1 July 2022 whichever time zone you are in.
Rules
1. Post ONE photo.
2. The photo must portray an interpretation of the theme.
3. Post your single picture in this thread.
4. The challenge is interactive. Any response is welcome.
5. The judge will pick the WINNERS and choose one of them to be the judge for the next week.
6. This challenge runs for 7 days plus an additional day for the judge to choose the winners.
7. Any Pentax camera can be used.
8. Pictures can be from any time frame, not just within the week of the current theme.
9. In case the winner of a challenge is unable to become the judge for the next challenge, they will PM the #2 winner for that person to be the judge.

I had used my K-30 heavily when it developed the problem, I don’t really think it has much to do with the amount of usage.

I have the DA 1.4 TC and the 55-300PLM, and I would highly recommend the combination. Below are photos of the combo on my KP, which happened to be sitting on the desk when I read your post. In full sunlight you will have no problems with this combo. I use it quite a bit when going to the beach and kayaking. Some days I may opt to use the DA*300 instead of the 55-300, but that of course is not with a space consideration like you have. Sometimes I will take it over the 300 because of the zoom capability, as you have mentioned being helpful, and that can mean less lens changes (which I do not change in the kayak or generally at the beach.).
The perspective is kind of bad here being directly over the camera with a cell phone, it's almost exactly 7 inches from back of the camera to the end of the front lens cap with the hood reversed. The camera is a KP, so add 1.5mm for a K-3. Attachment 576776 Attachment 576778 |

Sorry to hear about your father, you will miss him. Your photography collection is massive, I too would start by cataloging it. and note condition, things like hood, front and rear lens caps, etc on the lenses, Similar items on the cameras, including serial numbers on everything. In other words as much info as you can, because with that amount it might be hard to find any item to check something.

I would probably try using a filter ring without the glass. Lay the fabric flat over wax paper, Put glue on the outer edge of the filter, and put it on the fabric (May need a weight on top) and let it dry, then trim away excess.

I assume you have, but if not check the brightness and color of the rear screen, setup menu 2. I don't know if that being off could cause that, but just in case. If you go into those menu items, the green button is supposed to work as a reset. (pages 250 and 251 of manual)

Also check the mount on the body to make sure it hasn't somehow loosened.

Very weird, my guess is something to do with that weird MF/AF barrel switch.

The flashing Av sound like it is not recognizing the lens, take a microfibre cloth with a bit of alcohol and clean the mount surface of the lens and camera, being careful not to get anything in the camera. That's the easiest thing to try.
