Apart from a failing SDM I love my copy of this lens.

I acquired most of the ones i have from cheap K-mount bodies on eBay that had a screw mount lens attached. I knew there was an adapter in there but didn't know if it was OEM or third party. Luck turned out in my favor in most cases. :)
I also found a new boxed Ricoh version, which is just the Asahi Pentax one repackaged, at a great price. I would certainly be reluctant to fork out $90 US for one.

May be I should sell that copy I have kicking around. :)

Do you even see light through the lens when mounted to a camera? I purchased an untested 06 where the electronic shutter did not open when the camera was turned on. I returned that one to the seller for a refund, rather than trying to dismantle and attempt a repair.

Question How to reset cookies?

When typing your reply, any quoted text will be included between the words "QUOTE=original poster name" and "/QUOTE" in square brackets (I did not show brackets in this example as I did not want it to appear as a quote). If both the "QUOTE" and "/QUOTE" are present and you just deleted text in between, then you can simply copy and paste the missing text in the correct place before "/QUOTE". If you deleted either "QUOTE" or "/QUOTE", you can also retype them.

Alternately, selecting the missing text in the original post should bring up a pop-up box with an option to 'Quote this text'. This will place that text in your reply at the position of the cursor, with new "QUOTE" and "/QUOTE" entries. You will then need to delete any duplicate "QUOTE" or "/QUOTE" entries. Quotes can be stacked but you should always have a matching number of "QUOTE" and "/QUOTE" entries.

If your reply has already been posted, you will need to click on 'Edit Message' first. I hope this helps.

Just got back from the trip but without any photos to show (yet). My brother chauffeured us around, which saved me having to remember how to shift with the left hand. After visiting Stonehenge we stopped for dinner before he dropped us at the airport. Since his van had a broken window, he placed the camera under the seat so it would be out of sight while we were in the pub. As you can probably guess, in the rush to unload at the airport, the camera got left under the seat. By the time I realized, he had driven off and I was unable to contact him again until too late. Anyway, he is going to backup the photos and mail the SD card (e-mailing the raw files would be a challenge). I felt pretty stupid but at least I don't have to take a camera body on the next trip (also glad I have a backup here). :o

We went to Stonehenge on January 2nd and it was surprisingly busy, with a long line to get the bus to the stones. The weather was typical for the time of year, cold and breezy, with a lot of clouds and a light misty drizzle for good measure (no golden sunset this time). At the closest point to the stones, the path was so crowded with selfie takers that it was impossible to get a good shot. I would suspect a wide angle would have been needed here to get everything in the shot. On the other sides, the path was further from the stones and I was able to get everything in using both the FA 35 mm or FA 50 mm depending on the spot. The light was not great, so the ISO had to be higher than I would have liked. I did try putting the K-70 down on the ground and using the pixel shift resolution, so we will see how that worked (I definitely had to wipe the drizzle off the front element after that).

Thanks again for everyone's input. Once I get the files I will try and post some shots.

Under the price it indicates "Includes Free: 2 items ($65.29 value)". Clicking on that link shows the Sigma dock and Tiffen 67 mm filter.

Iso .. how high is too high for you?

With my old K-7, ISO 2,500 was the maximum I would go too. With the K-3 I could push it a little higher, and have some usable sports shots at ISO 12,800 (just don't enlarge them much). However, I like to stay below ISO 3,200 (or possibly 6,400 on the K-70).

Got to say it looks sharp with the matching lens. Buying a kit is usually the only way of getting the body colored lens (unless someone is parting out a kit). If I didn't already have a white one I'd be interested. Wishing you all the best with the sale, along with a bump to the top of the list.

With advances in technology over another 100 years, I would be very surprised if a camera strap was even a thing. Perhaps you will just capture the data traveling down your optic nerve, to record exactly what you see in real life?

We will have to see if it gets relisted again in a week or so. If so, it may not have not been such a good deal and returned for a reason.

It wouldn't surprise me if they came out with some 125 year items. They certainly had some 75 year anniversary film cameras:

Just received the camera today and the box doesn't show any significant damage. Camera and some of the accessories have certainly been repacked, so it looks like a customer return. Firing off a quick shot shows a shutter count of only 89. I have not had a chance to check everything out yet (to make sure there is no fundamental reason for the return) but everything is looking good so far.

It looks like a boiler plate description, as it talks about "Cosmetic imperfections, bigger than 1", on front of the camera body". If it's a scratch on the lens body not necessarily a problem but if it's on the front element, that's another story. Amazons return policy is usually pretty good though.

Thank you for all the information and recommendations. I think we are too close to the date to arrange one of the inside the stones tours. Hopefully going in early January will keep the crowds down a bit. It sounds like the FA 35 mm I normally keep on the K-70 (just in case I need an aperture ring) will be good. The DA 21 mm can certainly come along as it's so small. I think the DA 14 mm can probably stay home (it's much heavier anyway). I don't have anything longer than 50 mm in an auto-focus prime but may throw (not literally) a general purpose zoom in the kit just in case.

Thanks again for all the recommendations. I will try and report back after the trip.
