Nice photo. I'm right there with you. Sadly Nikon is the only company making anything close with the DF. But at $2300+, ouch. I'm afraid most company's don't want to sell a simple camera. Which is sad, because the more I'm into photography the more I cherish the simplicity of it. I have rediscovered my own K100d and ist*DS along with some instant cameras, pinholes and my Holga. I have rediscovered a love I thought lost.

After a long while of wanting one. I finally got around to selling a bunch of unnecessary gear and was able to find a mint condition LX. Can't wait to put it through its paces!

Thanks, I love all my cameras. But for some reason really like it. I guess because it is similar to my first camera my dad gave me. His old Yashica FX-2. That old cable release was his. Still going strong. Yeah, when I really want to slow down I pull out the old Graflexes. Haven't shot them in a while though. Sweet with the upsale, nice when that happens!

Hmm, this is a tough one. Among my MZ-S, Z-1, ZX-5, Spotties, and other film and digicams I find myself gravitating more and more to my K1000. It's simplicity, ruggedness and reliability all appeal to me. I've shot all kinds of cameras as have most of you guys, but there is something about this honest workhorse that always seems to make me want to pick it up over the others. I have an assortment of lenses, but my go to's are the 28mm F2, 50mm 1.7, Adaptall 90mm 2.5 macro.

Films:
Portra 160
Portra 400
Ilford B&W
Lomography 800
Superia 200 and 400, generally rated at 125 and 320 respectively.

Viva la film!

Thanks! I was pleasantly surprised how it turned out. Almost like it's a digital graphic and not a photograph. I also shot it with my K-5ii in color and it looks wild. But I prefer the b&w image.

Sculptures by Jaume Plensa, landscape artist. Cheekwood Botanical Gardens Nashville, Tennessee.
Pentax K1000 with Pentax-M 50mm 1.7, Kentmere 400 developed in HC110. Scanned with Pakon 135+.

I was really pleased with this shot as it came out a lot more dynamically than I thought it would have.

Pentax KX prism desilvering! Advice please.

I'm looking, but havent centered on anything at present. I diassembled a junker K1000, and Spotmatic and the prisms are differnt. The KX has an unusual shape to accommodate the aperture rind viewer.

I tried. :-(

I'm looking at possible solutions with a Mini Silvering Kit from Angel Gilding. The owner (Sarah) is being super helpful, and they have had success with 3D shapes and Sextant Prisms (not quite the same thing). But I may give that a try.

Pentax KX prism desilvering! Advice please.

Hello all,

I'm fairly new hear, but I've been shooting film my whole life and Pentax about the last 5-8 years or so. I was given a Pentax KX from a friend, a Goodwill store find of $5! It was kind of rough, but much to my delight it fired back to life. It has been my project cam. Meters comparibly to my K5ii. I was delighted to get it working then heartbroken as I discovered the prism is desilvering. I found a parts KX and took its prism out only to find the same thing. I contacted Eric H. And he told me it is a problem with the sticky glue they used to secure the prism. It damages the silver layer. He said unless you get lucky this is a problem endemic to the old KX. My question. Does anyone know of a method to resilver the prism or a service? I have researched resilvering mirrors and found what I think could be a suitable kit to do so. I have spent a lot of time and love in this cam and I'd like to save it if possible.
Many thanks in advance for your kind assistance.

Bob

Beautiful camera. I have a KX I nursed back to life but the prism has degraded silver. Get it checked out ASAP as the sticky tape they used on the bottom of the prism will degrade the silver. I spoke with Eric about it and he said unless you get lucky this is a common problem. Just an FYI. Gonna make a separate post about it.

Looks nice. If it is an actual shot then I like everything about it EXCEPT the AF rework. Nikon did this with their new models and it is horrible. It really slows down your switching time between focus modes. I hope that if Pentax did switch this system that they at least made it more useable.

Yes, it is. I own it in another mount. It is a superb lens btw. Sigma should really do an OS update to it.

While their commercial film will probably be unaffected, I do believe that the print film section is also part of the section to be sold.

I shoot a lot of horse shows and the season is over. Missed my four legged friends so I went to our nearby arena to visit.

I would dearly love a full frame system from Pentax. There are those who do not care so much for FF, but many of us do. But that's the beauty of selection, to each his own. I think if would be a really smart move for Pentax. Might be the only company that could pry my hands off my Nikon's for a while!

Quite true. I have always been partial to "Slick Pig" myself. Love their chopped BBQ chicken! Hmmm, now I'm hungry. Which one do you prefer?

"Thank ya, thank ya very much." BBQ would be great. We have a great little place in my town that has great BBQ. I need to take some photos with my MZ-S and share!

No indeed. I have a well stocked Nikon kit which I use in my business, but I just like the way Pentax cameras feel. So yes I need more lenses, a nice digital body would be great too!

Hello All,

I'm new to this forum as well as Pentax. I have shot with a little of everything over the years. I love film and picked up a Pentax MZ-S a few weeks ago and snagged a few lenses to boot. Anxious to learn and continue to explore my photography with Pentax.

Thanks,
Bobby
