HD PENTAX-D FA ★ 70-200mm F2.8 at 5th February?

My take:

SR will be effective for FL under 135mm (or some number) but at longer FL has some noticeable negative effect (vignetting or whatever).

Possible Solutions:
  1. VERY SLIGHTLY crop the FF sensor and retain standard Pentax IBIS for all lenses

  2. Use ILIS with lens-sensing FW that automatically turns off IBIS when an ILIS lens is mounted.

[EDIT for clarity:] The above is a sarcastic response.

Outlier - Ricoh used the extra time to completely re-work IBIS, which is the "surprise' briefly mentioned in a recent interview.

This one was made wide open. Big pluses for Pentacon are bokeh and minimum focus distance which is 0,33 m.

I hadn't either. I call it a wineapple because, you know. :D

The last shot (taken with a 35mm prime) is the top of a smaller one.

Even after all these years it still amazes me how well the K-5 sensor holds up at such high ISO. It can even add character to what might otherwise be mundane images.

Nature drop

Everybody probably has a few of these water-drop shots in their collection - just an irresistible scene. The 50/1.7 is serving you well. I do have some suggestions, though. There is insufficient light here, you could have easily added more by lowering your shutter speed, esp. if this was on a tripod. Look at the histogram on the camera or in your preferred editing app and I'm pretty sure you'll see that it doesn't go all the way to the right, so the whole image lacks "sparkle". The white balance also seems very off - it doesn't do the subject any justice. Was this taken indoors? Either way, the smooth background is very nice.

Lastly, a problem with limited depth of field is often what to do with the foreground. In this case, the part of the petal or leaf before the drop is so blurred that it feels to me as if it "blocks" my visual entry into the image. My eye (brain) has to overcome this literally distracting blur at the front to reach the drop. I'd have slightly closed down the aperture for more depth of field and tried to get the front part of the leaf sharper as well, but not so sharp as to be in competition with the drop. Keep practicing, use a spray bottle in the absence of rain, these images are not hard to re-create.

I took some photos with my K5II & 18-135 WR lens at a local sheep show during the summer and was impressed with the sharpness of the results...I am only relatively new to using a DSLR - I have had the K5II for just over a year now and it was my first DSLR - so I would welcome any comments as to your thoughts about the sharpness of my results...coming from a bridge camera it impresses me :)

It was the first cold day, a big icy wind, so the sky was clean (I live under the level of the sea, so it is very foggy e full of smog almost 340 days per year, so was a great moment for me).
I went in country to take some shots and after I took the sunset, with the trees a little bent in the wind, I turned myself 180° and I took the other shot, the stable with sunset colors.

Unfortunately sky color looks a little odd because of the compression... :(

Yes, this is how it works.

The camera has no idea what aperture you set on the lens so it can't calculate exposure.
But if you stop down the lens using "optical preview" lever you will see the metering scale, as with a stopped down aperture the camera can calculate exposure.

Get ready for the PF "Limited" November Giveaway!

You guys have been a great crowd throughout the Pentax Lens Tournament, and soon it will be our turn to give back to the community!

Starting on Saturday, November 1st, we will be hosting a month-long giveaway featuring daily prizes as well as two brand-new Limited lenses as grand prizes: the DA 15mm Limited (greatest wide-angle lens) and the FA 77mm Limited (overall winner of the lens tournament).

The giveaway will be very similar in format to our February 2014 giveaway. Daily scores will be determined based on forum post count and number of Likes. The member with the highest score will win the daily prize, while the top 10 scorers will all receive a grand prize raffle entry. At the end of the month, we'll draw the winners at random. Participants with a higher number of daily wins will of course have a higher chance of winning. There will also be a guaranteed lens prize for the overall top scorer.

Our February giveaway was met with great excitement, so I'm looking forward to a very fun November giveaway as well. This time around, the lens prizes will ship in early December, just in time for Christmas!

I hope you're all as excited to partake as I am to be coordinating the event. See you in November!
