Spotmatic: acidic or basic chemical cleaning of base plate ?

Vinegar is the way to go, you do not need much acidity or it will corrode the aluminum
do not soak all plate, but drip slowly into the threads

Difference between Pentax KX and MX???

The K-series use the spotmatic platform for the bayonet mount, and added a slew of upgrades
The M-series was a step up in size while retaining the quality of the old asahi cameras
The MX, was the flagship until the arrival of the LX and according to Dimitrov
This is one of Pentax's simplest and most robust cameras. It features manual focus, manual exposure and fully manual flash operation. It is fully mechanical, and uses batteries only for its light meter. The MX does, however, offer DOF preview, self-timer, interchangeable screens, and interchangeable backs. The viewfinder offers an optical readout of the selected lens aperture and shutter speed as well as five LEDs that indicate how far the manually-set exposure is from the camera's recommendation: 1 EV or more under, 1/2 EV under, identical, 1/2 EV over, 1 EV or more over. The camera is extremely small, light, and easy to use. A winder and motor drive are available as optional accessories.

Question about Depth-of-field & focal length relation

In the old days, my favorite portrat (head-shoulders) was a 105/2.8 for studio and a 200/4 for outdoors.
Yes, both gave me nice blurry backgrounds

I think the DOF - distance - focal length is the same as the focusing scale; in a wide angle (31mm) the distance marks were closer than in a 105mm and thus the separation of fore and background is easier.
FWIW, using wide angles was an easy wy to have a lot of things in focus

True, I tried this Rollei 25 films a few years back and was able to enlarge up to 40x60 inches
What I found in the old Tech Pan and Efke25 is that I needed to develop in Rodinal 1+100 or 1+200

Yes, they will work but they may vignette on the corners
I tired the 18-55 and Ifound vignetting was gone above 28mm.

It does have value, and the lenses have held value well...
The 135/3.5 is an OK lens, the 35/3.5 and the 50/1.4 are good.
I see you mention a 50/4 if that is there it is valuable

Yes, you have to think and hold the camera differently
The mirror slap can be quite hard, is your foam in good shape?
If not, consider replacing it using one of Jon Goodman's kits

If you test it against an evenly illuminated wall you may find that average or cecenter weighted should be same
Now try changing the light on the wall or location, not just the ASA/f/speed settings, you are taking one point all the time
