Re-releasing an already available lens with new coatings would be an odd thing to do, and sort of goes against the stated policy of concentrating on * lenses and Ltds. The only logic would be if they needed to do a new production run, weren't planning a modern 35mm anytime soon and wanted to bring it in line with the current offering both visually and in terms of coatings. Scarely worth an announcement though.

Hello All,
'Australian Camera' magazine, Nov/Dec 2018 edition has their 2019 camera magazine imaging awards, and they have the K-1 II as the best enthusiast digital SLR.
They say, "...has the potential to take on any challenger, given it represents the peak of DSLR technology as we know it."
Quite a good story.

Cheers,
Terry

Improved AF algorithms (all improvements helps)
Better ISO (crucial for me)
Better color reproduction (for me working in extreme LED lights its lovely)
Pixel Shift Resolution System II you can use high-res mode without a tripod (nothing I use, but good stuff)

The first K-1 was good enough for me shooting the biggest rockstars in the world, both at stage with smoke, difficult lights and in studio...So I'm pretty sure K-1ii will do even a better job.

So to all you complainers, you really dont need a D5 to shoot your neighbors cat or flowers.

Please, tell us how you really feel, norm. Go on... don't be shy..

I'm not sure my comment warranted such a crude and long winded diatribe of a response. You tend to brute force your opinion as the only way forward, and get your undies in a knot when someone else has a different point of view. Then you belittle any difference of opinion to attempt to further shrink the other views. You did it again just now.

If your 70-300 works for you, go use it; If your lenses and your camera are satisfying your needs, then why are you in the news and rumors section with such a strong, forceful opinion of others who do not? You don't even seem to have a horse in this race.

This is a photo I took back in 2010, not long after first getting my Pentax 67. I think it was the 3rd roll of film I put through the camera. Yesterday I was looking at the original scan I had done, and the scan wasn't very good so I decided to rescan the negative.

Nice results.

When I do long exposures, I rank Acros at the top of my list due to you don't have to keep a reciprocity chart of that film with you. That film is very resistant and has a simple rule to remember. Just add 1/2 stop of extra exposure for exposures longer than 120 seconds and that can be optional too.

CP+ and nothing......It's no wonder Fuji is winning the game

You made a bunch of excellent points. Perhaps, at this point and time, Fuji is winning the PR game because the news of their 645 camera is all over the place. Fuji is certainly doing a lot better in the PR and marketing department vs. Pentax.

At the same time, I am of the belief that Pentax is up to something big. And in typical Pentax fashion they do not adhere to a particular show or event for their announcements. So I am not surprised that they did not announce anything about the 645 system at CP+.

Also, let's not forget that the mirrorless war that is going on in the 35mm DSLR world has now come to the 645 world.

I am a diehard Pentaxian. But at the same time, I cannot ignore the compelling 645 package Fuji is offering. It is a lot more compact than the Z and enough lenses to get going. All said and done, they will have what looks likes five very useful lenses from the get go. I am not sure if many Pentaxians will dump their Z for the Fuji but a lot of small sensor DSLR people wanting to go to a bigger sensor might be interested in the value proposition of the Fuji.

Ok Pentax, let's see what you have up your sleeve!

IBIS failure at -28C temp
Posted By stevebrot

I suspect there is a language or cultural issue here. To clarify a few points and explain the push back you often receive on this site:
  • The -10C number is the design specification, not the performance limit. The difference is real and not particularly subtle.

  • Most other camera makes have a low temp design spec of 0C

  • One is free to shoot at any temperature one pleases

  • If one "bricks" their camera at -32C and make the mistake of leaving one's most recent shots on the SD card, One should not expect warranty coverage when EXIF shows the internal temp at -25C. This is not bad faith on the part of the maker.

  • Unless one is a QA engineer, test-to-fail is not a valid use case, particularly if you don't want to risk "bricking" the camera

  • Intentionally "bricking" camera and then complaining about the operational specs is illogical

  • When operating out-of-spec, strange behavior is a matter of curiosity and not evidence of failure, inadequate design, or poor QC

  • Complaining about strange behavior for out-of-spec operation is bad form

  • Suggesting that that one no longer uses is better at out-of-spec operation than Pentax does not win friends or influence people on a Pentax-centric forum

  • Persisting in the above has resulted in unhappy mods in the past. In extreme cases, banishment for life has been employed. (I am not a mod, so not a threat...just an observation.)
