Itís a little more awkward, and sometimes I forget to use it, but it seems to work better.

It is faster than many lenses, but I’ve never used that Sigma, so I can’t compare it to that.

I often use the rear AF button, typically with AF-C.

Yes, my FA135/2.8 (which is perhaps the fastest) will re-adjust relatively quickly under AF-C, typically allowing me to get 3-4 good shots of an approaching athlete - although not necessarily in focus at every possible moment along the way.

Thanks for the input, Norm. Youíre convincing me I should try It someday; I certainly appreciate compact lenses!

Yes, smile big there because the *70-200 is expensive and a bit heavy; I have a wonderful lens kit, but Iíve never spent that much on one.

Apparently the 55-300 PLM is quite good, and I may have to try one. But Iím hesitant because of my experience with the original DA55-300. While it was very good, I eventually decided the F70-210/4-5.6 had better IQ. And since I often shot it at 300mm with relatively slow apertures, I reasoned to myself ďwhy should I get merely good shots with this lens when I could have captured the same moment in a great shot with the F*300/4.5?Ē

Nevertheless, its AF design and performance is intriguing ...

That could be too bad for me also, as I might have to buy another lens eventually.

I think the DA*50-135 is only lens of this ~type I have. Itís fantastic for slow movement like parades, but worthless for the type of sports shooting I typically do (athletes running towards me). :(

Thatís an interesting thought, Mike. In the past Iíve flounder that some screw-drive Pentax primes focus the fastest (and the best) for sports, but I never considered that some slower ~SDM designs could actually track better once on target. I may have to tests this out in the future.
