Wanted - Acquired: 85mm Prime

as stated, 85mm prime preffer F1.4, prefer it be usable on digital and film cameras. My price point is about $300-$350. Will of course look cheaper and would be willing to negotiate on somthing that has an agreable higher value for my needs :)

Im in the states (ga) and prefer the item be somewhere in the US to avoid enourmous Shipping charges.

Looking around right now. May end up buying a new one but I'd like to see what else is available.

Im looking at buying a pair of lenses and Im not sure if I should just go ahead and do it or hold off.

First my Sears 135mm is my FAVOURITE film lens, I know that 85mm is aproximately the digital equivilant so I have been looking for a lens at this focal length. I also have a lust for a fish eye lens for some of the more panoramic photographs I take.

This being said I've been looking at buying two lenses with my tax return this year. The photography got me a good portion of this money and Id like to put a little bit of money back into it.

First the bower 85mm 1.4 portrait lens
Seems like a decent deal for a fast lens. The optics may not be up to par, but if I'm happy with the optical quality of a 135mm sears branded lens thats 20 years old, I dont think I should be too dissapointed with this lens.

Secondly

Bower 8mm 3.5 fish eye
OR
Rokinon 8mm 3.5 Fish Eye

Now These appear to be the same lens with a different tag and a different price so Im temped to go for the $50 cheaper lens since this lens would be more of a toy for me than anything else. I also know thought that the Rokinon has just about a 0 resale value if I decide I dont use it enough to justify keeping it around. So does anyone have some insight? I do a lot of animal photography and the 135 focal length on the film camera always works out perfectly for me and I just dont have a digital lens that can fit the bill. I dont like using zooms when I dont have to, the primes just seem to have a softer feel to them, of course that could just be me. I also like shooting with a lens wide open which is hard to do with a zoom and have the shot come out right unless your at the far end of the focal length.

If you think Im nuts just let me know, I may not jump on the 8mm but Im pretty sure Im going to find an 85mm somewhere to buy. I do have cash and if anybody has a used one they'd be willing to part with of better quality around the same price point Im more than open to suggestion. I do like how fast this lens is though. The F1.4 is a big selling point on me right now

So many toys, so little money. I've already spent my monthly allotment for toys and I really need to get a new slide scanner. its still very tempting though. I have the F2 version and would really like the lower Fstop for the decreased DOF. If you still have it next week (which I highly doubt you will) I may bite

PENTAX ANNOUNCES AFFORDABLE, NEW PENTAX K-x WITH HIGH-END FEATURES INCLUDING HD VIDEO

I saw this in my e-mail this morning and quickly set up for them to e-mail me when they go for sale. I am acctualy thinking about offing my new K20 so I can pick up this just to have the HD video at the same price I paid for my K20. for the loss of 2 megapixels, the fact that I can finaly get one in white.. its a fair trade to me. they could probobly get a little more for the camera even.

I paid $40 for it with a 50mm F2.0 and a nice pentax camera bag. I figure what I paid for it is worth the lens and the bag. Sell the camera as parts and call it a scratch. I just liked the DOF preview and abilty to use my 400mm prime, and the 500mm I have on the way. Oh well. I wanted it to shoot my kodachrome with but I think Im just going to use my K1000. I have no reason not to other than I was worried it may fail with a roll in it. But I've run several rolls through it with no complaints yet. Still I may replace the light seal's before I throw any of the good film in it.

Id really rather not ship world wide. Im admitedly lazy and really dont want to deal with customs. Where are you located. I'll ask at the post office about how much it would cost and what extra I would have to do to ship it and think about it.

PentaxForums.com Marketplace Listing

Item for Sale
Pentax *IST D

Asking Price
$200

Item Description
I had this listed in another thread but decided to repost it as the thread was listed as lenses only. Everything else from that thread has sold and I just have this one camera body left.

As far as trades I would consider. Anyone who knows anything about R/C im looking for an Associated B44, Im also always interested in possible trades for lenses.

Camera has a little more or less than 3000 clicks, comes with all original excessories (including the CRV3 batterys) and is in perfect condition. Love the camera but its done nothing but sit in the box since I got my K20.
Comes with a CF card as well.

It is the ORIGINAL *IST D from 2003, not a DS, or a DL. Uses CF Memory, Very easy to handle Camera, I still prefer the way it feels over any other DSLR I've used.

Anybody know of anything to correct it? :(

Story

I had been using a Pentax ZX-50 for my film dutys but needed a Camera without a crippled K mount or with depth of field preview so that I could use older non A lenses on it. Well I found both in the ZX-M and orderd one from amazon, well putting my first roll of film through it and Im noticing that it doesnt seem to be metering right. 400 speed film and today I finaly just said somthing is wrong here, pointed it twords a sunny sky, and even with a 2" shutter speed it read as so under exposed that It still wouldnt come off the bottom end of the meter :( :(

Anybody know of somthing I should try cleaning before I throw it in the garbage? I put the camera on 6400 ISO and it was still reading wrong when compared to my K20 with the same lens attached. Im so sad, I really like the layout of this camera. I have two rolls of Kodachrome I want to shoot but dont want to put them in my K1000 for fear of camera failure as its old and abused and I really dont want to put it in my ZX-50 as I cant use my older lenses like my Takumar SMC 400mm M42 lens

Edited to remove extra drable thats already sold.

K100D super back up for sale first buyer decided not to trade his K20 in on a canon. I cant say as I havnt had similar moments.. speaking of which I'd dabble with intrest in trading either body on a Digital rebal of similar value so I could play with some canon lenses

Im trying to reduce my credit card debt some and I have a bunch of equipment that is not being used since I got my K20 so Im listing it for sale. Im posting this quick before work and will try and get pics either tonight or tommarow morning of everything. I wont be able to respond to PM's till tommarow morning sorry.

First some Lenses (all prices include shipping to the cont. US)

Sears 60-300 Multicoated 1:4.0-5.6 Shipped

Sigma 70-210 1:4-5.6 UC-II $60 *pending*

I bought this lens used. Comes with Sigma front cap and what I belive to be the original rear cap but it is the same cap that came with my new Quantaray 28-90 so Im not certain if its just a generic quantaray cap or not. comes with lens hood, aperture blads are snappy and oil free, A-mount for newer camera bodys. Glass is clean clear and free of fungus. Comes with Cambron UV filter.

Lens is on the left

Quantaray 28-90 1:3.5-5.6 Autofocus Sold

New In Box SMC Pentax DA 18-55mm F3.5-5.6 AL Shipped

Tamron AF 28-80 1:3.5-5.6 Sold

Cameras for sale (shipping to Cont. US included)

Pentax K100D Super Body less than 3000 clicks W/boxes, manuals, cables, software $225 *waiting on funds to clear*

Bought this camera new as my first digital pentax body. Its a good camera and I was going to keep it as a backup but I just dont think I really need to at this point. Id much rather have a K10 as a backup if I were to have one anyway. Camera doesnt show any signs of use and I always kept it in a proper bag when not in use, never out in the rain.

Sorry its not a scratch on the screen just a random hair I didnt notice last night as I was tired :/

Pentax *IST D body less than 3000 clicks W/boxes, manuals, cables, software $225

Condition is similar to the K100 but this was the camera I used more as I liked the feel of it better. I honestly didnt care for the feel of the 100. This camera comes with a memmory card. Its a Kingston 4 gig I belive but it could be just a 2 gig. everything is in the box that it came with new, including the two CRV2 batterys as I always used NiMh rechargeables in the camera.

Im a little negotiable and willing to think about offers and trades.

Its built MUCH cheaper than the Pentax lens (I have both) Focus is MUCH crisper on the pentax and the sears lens has a little bit of a Glow effect. The sears lens for the price is a VERY fun toy to play with and one that if I was going out in a storm to take some pics wouldnt hesitate to mount to the K20 as Im not too afraid of ruining it. Its in a friends hands now (as all my sears lenses are, my LBA made me buy the whole set of them :( ) as I just got her the P/K to 4/3's adapter for her E-420 so she could get some affordable glass (aka borrow all my play toys) The sears lenses are what I started shooting with till I could decide what features in a lens I liked and what focal ranges I shoot at most often, I wouldnt hesitate buying them again if I had the chance but the set of them will probobly go to the choping block here soon so that I can buy one decent lens with the money. The "glow" effect it gives to some objects can be played upon and acctualy used once you get to know it as a pretty cool intentional effect
