I use OnOne's Photo 10 for layered stuff, but it translates the RAW to RGB, and I'm not aware of an alignment features for the layers. It is compatible with LR so your LR investment isn't a throwaway.
Are you sure you couldn't use a program like Easy HDR 3 to stack multiple layers (it will do that in RAW) because I think the guy that wrote the software was doing it for astrophotography purposes and it turned out to also be good for HDR use, so Easy HDR 3 was born. I think it's only about $40 US. It does have auto-alignment and ghost-removal capabilities, too.

I'm just thinking out loud here but in a pinch couldn't some wiley tech-guys here generate a 3D print model from an original and send it to Amazon and have the little knobs "printed?"

Yes, if the Oly XZ-2 deal hadn't fallen in my lap I would also own the XF-1, if not just for indoors with the F1.8 at the wide end.

I've only had the XZ-2 a couple days. It's a powerful little beast that has a lot to like. The lens is so fast you can shoot stuff you normally wouldn't and get decent results. It has a quality feel to it and focuses very fast. There is not competition in the sub- $200 price range, and with the configurable lens ring it offers a lot of flexibility to the user.
Now I'm off to go and find the XZ-2's SCP (super control panel menu) that I heard about.

Yes, they are hard to find, and there really is no other lens for Pentax with this great range that you can handhold or still fit in a small sling bag.
One on eBay just sold for $392 + shipping.
