Where can I learn about my camera and post processing from videos?

I have Irfanview, Gimp and Paint. A video of how to use them would make the learning much easier. They may be out there, and I am just not aware of them.
My impression of Techno Geeks is that they relate to electronics better than to humans. I'm looking for the exceptions.

SLIP,
This is the date of above coin with Asahi Auto Bellows II and a Nikon, EL-Nikkor 50mm lens. I really like details.
Resized from 4288x2848 to 1000x664.

“Your camera alone (or with flash) will give you results without post processing if you use the appropriate settings”
I’m thinking of combining front shot, rear, writing and a photographic inset all into one “picture” I just don’t know how to do it.

Other leads I’ll be checking out - maybe all night.
Thanks for the guidance.
Working with something like this…

I have a Pentax K-x that I use mostly for coin photography, and use Irfanview for my post processing. So far I've been able to squeek out passible results with tips and trials, but I am no real photogtapher. The camera manual is a little confusing and a bit overwhelming. Are there any videos out there that would help a slow learner? As for the post processing, I could download another brand if it were free and had a teaching video. I would be especially interested in learning more about the Pentax post processing software that came with the camera. Thanks in advance.

I had a similar experience with a K-x.
My best guess is that some people buy a camera that has good reviews, and discover that they don't know how to use it.
Learn or sell? Some learn. Some sell.
I've seen the same thing with firearms and motorized vehicles.
If I can talk them out of making an inapropriate purchase, I will.
If I can't, someone may get a good deal soon afterwards.

PS Does anyone know of someone interested in a slightly used XYZ Rocket Parachute?
How about turbo SCUBA gear?

El S.

Take a look at his page.

Not only does it have a lot of information, but it is just the sort of education that will prompt more questions. That's progress.

My Lenses, front and back and camera, not in intended order.
Not good pictures, but I am dealing with other issues.
The question concerns the pin at the 3 o'clock position (As shown in the photograph.)
If I understand correctly, this pin can fall into the screw drive of an auto-focus camera, making it difficult to remove
Is it safe for me to install these lenses on my P-x?

Dave,
Thanks for the great information.
As a novice, you'll have to go slow. I'd rather ask dumb questions, than make dumb mistakes.
I have some lenses that came with a P3n, that I would like to use on my K-x.
One is a Sears 70-210mm, f=1:4
Other is a Ricoh 50mm, f=1:1.7
Both have KA contacts and a Ricoh pin.
You caution against using such lenses on auto-focus cameras.
Are these lenses safe to use on my P-x?

Thanks,
Kurt

"This thread is pointless without a pic of the cluttered room."

Not from my perspective, I'm surrounded by a cluttered room. Wow, I can relate.

Now imagine a clock repair room with flying springs.

Another victory.

I have dial up. And apparently did not wait long enough for the up-load.
I changed my camera setting for a smaller file, submitted the photo and went to do my dishes.

Boy, am I glad I did.
First of all, I don't know anything about what I am doing, but with the kind and generous help of others, I've been able to get results.
My goal was to take pictures of silver dollars. Especially close-ups showing details.

Others gave me a recipe, but as I lack skill, I took about 100 photos to get one picture. Seriously. Changing the focus and settings ever so slightly between shots, and picking out the best one to serve my purpose.

Then I read about shutter count and feared I might be wearing out my camera. And having bought it used, I had no idea what kind of life might be left in a camera that I had not yet learned to use.

I ran the program, and my shutter count is 4,035. How is that for great? On a used camera!

One of my favorite photos so far. Showing a scratch. Not on the coin, but on the die used to make the coin.

Thanks all, now I need to research everything about macro photography. Lenses, stands bellows and adapters.

Your point is well taken, Thanks for the input. I was just feeling a testosterone rush.

I have to do a little paper work, but hopt I can get back soon with results instead of complaints.

Thanks again Marc

I got a little sleep, and am less frustrated, and intend to wipe all work from the computer, and start with new down loads.

But… I said something, that in retrospect could be misunderstood.
My comment was,
"The learning curve is not steep, the teaching curve is flat."

I hope that no one here thinks that I was referring to all of you, generous, talented pioneers that have helped me.
I was referring to Pentax, (and most conglomerates,) and the current attitudes they have towards their customers.

PENTAX...
1) Do not rename stuff and then act like you invented it! It is software, not firmware. (About that Initial Power-Up Actuation Valve, IPAV, on your new car (that cost you an extra $1200.) We used to call it a choke. )
2) Make the download easier. I know making it difficult and cryptic, insures you'll not be replaced, but I can recall a time when doing a good job insured you would not be replaced. Fix the computer glitch, don't market it as a feature. (I'm not up to speed with the newer computers, but I started out punching holes in cards. And as a student in the 80's, I wrote Thermodynamics programs for the Mechanical Engineering Department at the University of Wisconsin.)
3) Get somebody to answer the dang phone! Why are your customer service hours like that of a Banker's? You are not in the banking industry. Most people need help with their cameras when they try to use them. Most people use them after work and on weekends. Duh? (In order for a business to be successful these days, you only need three windows. One that takes your money. One that delivers your product. And one that services your product. And under no circumstances should all three windows be open at the same time. It's the closed one's fault. Not convinced? Try buying a Pentax. It's so easy a pigeon could do it. I could get you 30 cameras in the next 30 minutes. But try to ask a factory rep a question about a product you've already paid for, and the response could take days. And don't count on it being correct.)

Now that I feel better, I'm going to start downloading the necessary files. And if it doesn't work, I'll relate the same sentiments to the computer people.

Thanks to all, I hope next communiqué is one of celebration., as I have too much ground to cover
Kurt

PS. Just got a Wollensak RAPTAR 135mm f/4.5, and a Rodenstock-OMEGAR 75mm f/1.45 to go with the Schneider - Kreuznach COMPONON 80mm f/1.56. I don't know anything about them, but they cost less than the shipping, and I'll try these copy lenses as Macros for coin shoots. But first I need to build a better copy stand. Oh, wait, I still got to get Mom out of jail.

DOESN'T UPDATE...

I double click on downloaded file, and it doesn't extract anything remotely recognizable as a read me file.

I don't doubt every one else's skills or technical expertise, or ability to communicate.
But there is something that I am not doing correctly, and your patience and perseverence is appreciated.

Having lost several pages of properly prepared text, that I cannot afford to reproduce, let me continue with the short versions.

Red cameras reflect red light. especially when photographing highly reflective silver coins.
I've had people look at my coin pictures and say,"Hey, you've got a red camera."

Pentax Copipod is neat, but my '95 GEO is dying, and I cannot spend any money on another project.

No that didn't work any better.
I've lost about 12 hours today, and many pages of useful text trying to get and give information. I cannot continue to throw away my life like this.

The learning curve is not steep, the teaching curve is flat.
And it is very discouraging
