It was fairly well attended; around 40-50?

They had the 20-40 mounted on a few K-3s. It is a thing of beauty in the hand...

I think the K-mount (basic three-tab bayonet without electrical contacts) is open and free for others to use without license. So anyone can use it.

Looking at the cut-away photo http://dc.watch.impress.co.jp/img/dcw/docs/354/026/pentax_22.jpg, it looks like the electronics of the 645D itself is thicker than the K-7. As well as looking like there's a fair amount of empty space...

The gaps are mostly at the telephote range; Pentax has the wide to short tele pretty well covered in their fantastic range of primes.

I think the design is supposed to harken back to the 645 - Pentax's approach of retro styling. If they made a dMF that looked like on oversized SLR, you could say that they're simply using the 67 design and slapping on a digital back...

K-x BLOWS the 450D AWAY at 100iso INCREDIBLE Comparisin

There's a big a discussion about AF at dpr (again) and it seems like people have been digging up all sorts of AF complains from the canon forum regarding accuracy.

Also, someone linked to this article: Canon AF System (which doesn't seem to be a Pentax fansite)

From this description, it definitely sounds like Canon skimps on accuracy for speed.

K7 AF button in the way!

I've always used the half press to focus, so it's no problem for me... however, I much prefer the positioning of the green button on the K10 body, as I use M mode - the new position is a little trickier to reach as a left-eye shooter (rubbing your face with the thumb).

Doesn't Canon skimp on AF accuracy to achieve their much touted AF speed?

Anyway, both these images only prove one thing: you can't trust the comparometer.

Pentax EVIL, 645D price rumors

If you think about the new DFA100 and how it pretty much appeared out of nowhere, it's quite possible that Hoya has been creating (or updating) 645 lenses for the launch later this year. I'm guessing there'll be a two lens kit available at launch and several more lenses available shortly after.

They've been exhibiting the 645D in a glass cabinet for a while, so I can imagine Hoya trotting it out as a look but don't touch exhibit.

It would definitely be on show for PIE 2010, hopefully as a usable prototype.

Your photo indicates a problem with front focusing, but the newspaper has too many things for the AF to select and could be confusing it.

If you're really keen on getting this sorted out, check out this link: Jeffrey Friedl’s Blog Jeffrey’s Autofocus Test Chart

There's a fair bit of reading, but it should help you get your problem fixed :)

k10d with non weatherproof lenses in rain?

Looks like something else to me :D

I've used my K-7 in decent rain with an FA50 and an FA31. I usually cover the lens with my left hand while shooting and hold it lens down when not.

FA Limiteds aren't exactly small to the extent that the DA Ltds are small, especially not the FA 31. Wasn't the design goal of the FA Limiteds to make uncompromisingly excellent lenses? Besides, is it the weather sealing that adds bulk or is it the SDM that adds bulk to the DA*'s?

My wallet is crying... it knows that it's going to be losing some of its life soon.

I think it's interesting that it's not a DA* (Pentax's "pro" line) and it just makes me wonder if the FA Limiteds might get a WR update...

Would you use a precious FA Limited in rainy or dusty conditions? That would be reason enough to replace them.

Not only do the DA* lenses have weather sealing, they have the latest coatings.
