I really agree - very nice!

The green leaves have a lovely “glow” to them, and the deep reds in the background set them off nicely.

Love the moment, and the ambience.👍

Indeed sometimes, a good picture may not be totally technically perfect.

The DA35 f2.8 Ltd. is one of my favourite and heavily used lenses too.

I've found it an amazing lens! Whether in macro application or otherwise, its ability to capture the very finest of detail, coupled with its unique way of rendering it, and the contrast and colour it gives — remarkable! Time and again I've been pleasantly stunned by this lens — a gem.

I'm sorry to hear that.

I'm assuming that by DA40 you meant the Limited lens?

It would appear then that this happens not just to FA Ltds but to DA Ltd's also..... ?

Thanks for the tip, I'll be keeping an (uneasy) eye open now, for my DA Ltd 15 & 35.

Wondering whether other DA Ltd owners here have experienced this sort of jamming as well?

What I've found regarding the bokeh of the FA43 (straight blade version) is that while it CAN be a bit busy sometimes (which I personally don't really appreciate), nevertheless a lot of the time, the bokeh ISN'T busy. I guess it depends on the interplay between factors such as the type of background, distance of background, the aperture chosen, the shooting angle, lighting etc.

And I really love that bokeh! It's something special, and beautiful! It's got a character to it, something like a fine grit or texture to it, which I really appreciate and value.

I don't know what causes it to be so, but I've long suspected that the straight blades may have something to do with it.

And if that's true, and if the new rounded blades take away this texture/character from the bokeh, yielding instead bokeh that's merely "smooth", personally speaking I don't think I'd like that. I prize the present bokeh character of the straight-blade FA43.

I too had the unpleasant experience of the focus mechanism jamming, the focus ring unable to turn, with a mild "crunching" feeling. It happened to my 77, and then 43.

The authorised Pentax repair staff told me that in both cases it was the same problem — a cracked gear inside the lens.

I'm not sure if it was exactly the same gear as you showed in your photo, but I suspect it would be.

Fortunately, it was quickly repaired, and relatively inexpensively.

I’ve found the FA43 to be an extraordinary lens, in several aspects, one of which being the fact that it has subtly different “behaviour”/“character”/“look” at different apertures (especially so at the wider values), and by this I do not mean merely that the DOF differs. This makes it a lens of complex behaviour; I’ve found it richly rewarding learning to exploit these complexities to beautiful advantage, in the images rendered.

Outstanding images. Unique colour. The reflections are almost unreal! Excellent.

I love the FA43’s f8 “look”: details are crisp, deep and aplenty, yet the image is rendered with a lovely “old-school” warmth to it. So much so that I’ve often dialled in f8 on the 43 when I desire that effect.

Re the FA31 shot: Love that foreground bokeh, and the composition.

Re the FA77 shot: What to say? It IS after all the legendary portraiture lens!

I like the dynamic contrast, and the superb rendering of the face/hair detail.

Love the FA43's rendering of the image.

DA* 200 on FF

Hi, I use the DA*200 on K-3.

Lovely Pentax-typical colours.

Excellent contrast.

Superb bokeh, and not just at wide apertures.

Very sharp, even when images are zoomed in. Fine detail is beautifully rendered. Images come out well-balanced and "just right" - not exaggerated sharpness, yet never lacking detail.

Overall, it rewards with really beautiful, excellent image quality in its pictures.

Utterly rock solid construction.

Comparatively slower AF.

The lens hood has a very handy rubberised edge that enables the lens to be placed end-down with good stability.

PF can occur at larger apertures shooting into the light. Personally, I've not encountered it often. Can usually be addressed in post.

Hope this is of some help. Thanks.

DA*200/2.8 vs FA*200/2.8 in abberations

Hi, I use the DA*200 only, so I'm sorry, I can't compare it against the FA* for you.

I love the images I get from my DA*, but I would just like to raise one point for your awareness. This lens isn't the fastest around in terms of its AF speed. I find it adequate for my use, but you mentioned sports, so I would recommended that you do some checks on that aspect, to ensure its ok for you.
