Chris, are you saying the SP1000 was a Spotmatic F without the self-timer and built-in hot shoe or closer to being a screw mount K1000?

I mentioned in another post that the Honeywell Pentax Spotmatic F was the first SLR I ever owned, Was this the last Pentax that branded the name "Honeywell" in the U.S.? I just can't remember even seeing an early model K mount Pentax from the 70's with "Honeywell" branded on it.

I'm game for a "Spotmatic D" (in silver) :) My first SLR was a Spotmatic F and traded it for an Olympus OM1,still regretting it 35 years later, miss the match-needle metering sometimes too,

Shot at ISO 3200.... sure beats the crap out of the Fuji bridge camera I used to own at 800 ISO, using a manual 50mm M f 1.7 Pentax lens I bought used did a great job too, super prime lens!!!

Bump, I want to see an owner of those colors not voted on in the poll (purple, orange, beige, chocolate brown, etc) and would also like to hear from "year old" owners of the white stormtrooper models to see if the bodies are pretty much stain-proof
after much use and simple cleaning.

At first,I never thought myself as a "white" DSLR kind of guy, but having seen the "stormtrooper" on You Tube videos and being somewhat of a non-conformist, I got one and haven't regretted it. Reminds me a little of my very first camera...anyone remember the Polaroid Swinger? it was also white and durable :)

Flash Settings Using M Series Lenses On The K X

I'm just talking basic pop-up built-in flash here, I assume doing close up macro flash photography is out of the question. LOL I did a test shot from 10 feet away at ISO 200 and the pics are still washed out. :(

Flash Settings Using M Series Lenses On The K X

Pardon me for being stupid but I just acquired a mint condition 50mm M series f1.7 off Ebay for $60.00 after seeing reviews on here praising the optics. I've set the aperture ring to "allowed" in the custom menu but every shot using the pop-up flash is washed out. Have I forgotten a setting a setting here or there. Sorry, if this has has been asked before.

Being new to the K X, having owned it for only a few days (updated from a K200d) your video knocks the socks off my old P & S Fuji S8000fd and although it might be "bluish" in some areas, just wondering if adjusting the WB to cloudy would have eliminated if changing the WB is even an option, still haven't played with the camera enough to know yet :)

K X and M Series 50mm F 1.7 Lens Movies?

Hey All,
Just got a white K X a few days after Christmas along with the 18-55mm and 50-200mm kit lens and a few hours ago purchased a mint condition 50mm f 1.7 M lens off EBAY for $60.00 how do M series lenses perform in movie mode. I assume you still use the "aperture ring permitted"
setting in the menu and manually focus let the camera do the rest. Any other things I need to know when shooting movies with older Pentax lenses.

Question For Those "White" Km/2000 Owners

You make a good point I forgot about (AA batteries) my k200d is still running on charged Eveloops I used last Christmas. It still amazing to me that the K X list for less than $700 with kit lens, before I had my k200d. I had super-zoom Fujis (s8000fd and s700) both are good cameras but movie mode is so so and high ISO pics (400 and over) are noisy. The K X may not have a top LCD, but I think I can live without it.

Question For Those "White" Km/2000 Owners

Hey All,
I'll admit it, at first I thought I would never buy a white DSLR but the white color is starting to grow on me however I do have some reservations. Is the white body smooth (glossy) or pebble grained like the black models,it looks glossy in the photos I've seen. If that's the case,it seems like it would be more prone to viable scratches and stains. The K X seems like perfect back up to my K200d or maybe it'll be the latter that will be my back up since the ISO is expanded and now has video, seems crazy to pay twice the price for a K 7. I still haven't seen reviews for either camera on Steves or the DP review sites so I'll wait for for a full test before making any hasty decison.

K20 With Kit Lens For $670 At Wal-Mart

Walmart.com: Pentax K20D Black 14.6 MP Digital SLR Camera Kit includes 18-55mm Lens, LiveView, Weather Resistant, *Bonus Extended 3 Year Warranty: Digital Cameras

Hmmm, didn't even know Wal-Mart carried Pentax DSLRs, price looks tempting enough to buy even though that money could be used as a down payment on a K-7.

I hated being wooooed :hmm::hmm:

Pentax K 7 or Canon 5D?

For Pentax loyalist, the answer is a no-brainer.when I see tons of used Pentax lenses on Ebay at bargain basement prices and no matter how old they are, they'll still work on a K-7 (maybe with some limitations like auto focus) Like so many on here, can't wait to see shots at high ISOs and hopefully some 4th of July movies of firework displays..if they camera is out by then.

Anyone know if the K 7 will be able to shoot movies in either B/W or Sepia? It could make for interesting flicks.especially at old car shows and other nostalgic events,

I love my Eneloops, have six sets, why only as a last resort would I buy a grip. I don't want a camera that's too cumbersome.

Advice on best way to sell

Scott,
I always look at a person's feedback before I buy anything on Ebay. If you have Pay Pal, your covered and since Ebay now requires you to have an account with them, the only choice is to do either a "Buy it Now" where you can have immediate payment or "auction style" which you might (with some buyers) to send the payment to you. My k100d body had a starting bid of $9.99 and went up from there. If you start at .99, some will think there's something broken with it. Just take sharp clear pictures (more than one) especially if the body is in great shape (LCD too) I have bought cameras real cheap in the past because very few will bid if the uploaded photos are blurry and/or dark.

Good Luck
Barry

P.S. If you want a cheap prime lens. Try to find a broken K1000 for sell with a 50mm F 2.0 lens. I got one for $15.00, I ended up selling just the lens for $75.00 by itself and used THAT money to buy my FA 50mm f 1.4

Last year I sold my k100d body without the kit lens for $425 which was the winning bid on Ebay. I used that money to buy a k200d body, End cost for the k200d body ended up being about $175 on Amazon. Now I might do the same thing and sell my k200d body on Ebay and get the K 7 but I know the price difference will be much more...what can I say? I love having the latest and greatest.

It seems like camera reviews are a lot movie reviews, it best to make your own decision. I went to Netflix to see if the movie "Mall Cop" was worth renting. I saw reviews that ranged from "A Must See!!" to "I wasted a 1 1/2 hour off my life" If you like the K-7, you'll still like it whether of not your Nikon and Canon buddies will tell you it's junk.

K 7 and that NEW battery....

So true, that's why I'm worried about this "new" battery on the K 7, I'm not ready to shell out extra bucks for a battery grip just because it takes AAs unless this "new" battery is available at more places than just camera shops or Amazon. I'm assuming that the old battery grip for the K###D series will not be compatible with the K 7, if it is, I'll buy a used one. Is Pentax including the charger with the K 7? So many questions to ask, can't believe the number of people who are pre-ordering this camera before seeing it tested.

.... I heard it's not the same one that goes in the K20, so is this battery so new that the K 7 will be the only camera that will be using it? Reason why I bought my k200d, AAs are available everywhere.
