On K1, the card slot 1 is grayed out when choosing how to write to each slot. Why?

I guess I am having a similar problem. I have somehow managed to lock my SD card slot 1 and I have no idea how to unlock it.

Here’s what I see: When I press the INFO button and cursor to the MEMORY CARD OPTIONS, the screen shows that card 2 is selected with a right arrow. Card 1 shows instead a yellow key symbol. Further, either pressing OK or using the rear E-dial allows cycling through the options – except that slot 1 is greyed out for the sequential option and unavailable to select. I get the same option choices under MENU 2/MEMORY CARD OPTIONS, i.e., no way to select card 1 first.

I have searched the manual for all topics containing “memory card”, “SD”, and “lock” and can find no mention of any way to unlock (much less lock) any slot. There is mention of “protecting” images, but only during playback, not recording.

I have checked that my SD card itself is not write-locked, and indeed if I switch cards 1 and 2, slot 1 still shows as locked and slot 2 works just fine with my card.

Any ideas? What have I done and how do I unlock slot 1?

I found the answer in another post I had not seen. Turn off camera, remove card 2, turn on camera. The default has now moved back to slot 1. Turn off camera and insert card 2 and all is well and as expected. Thanks!

Curious. What was your depth of field? Maybe just a tad more would be good? Not sure.

Thank you so very much for steering me in the right direction. I had overlooked the "One-Push Bracketing" option on the K1. Setting that, all seems well and just as I want it to be.

Shutter behavior with bracketing on K-1 vis-a-vis K5

Odd shutter behavior on new K-1 compared to K-5 2s.

I have been used to using my old K5 to take (usually) three bracketed images in preparation for HDR processing. The K5 takes three images regardless of whether you press-and-hold or press-and-release the shutter button, and regardless of whether you are using a cable release.

Now I have a new K1 and expected the same behavior. Instead, the K1 requires press-and-hold to get all three bracketed images. If you press-and-release, I have found that you are likely to get only two images. (Once I got four, but I have not been able to duplicate that.) As you can imagine, this messes up batch HDR processing.

Further, if you are using the IR remote with the K1, you must press it three times to get the three bracketed images. This could mean more of a delay than I would like to see.

There are other comparison oddities, but I'll limit this thread to this one issue. Any thoughts? Some setting I may have missed?

Specs: K1 Firmware 1.43; K5 2s Firmware 1.07
