I was looking at the EXIF focal length; not whether you cropped which I assumed. You were quite close. At least 1,100 miles closer to a dolphin than me.

And, I can't resist your sense of humor with the comment followed by a photo of a dolphin at your feet!

Landscape Dubuque Airport Terminal at Dusk

Thank you. I had not seen the new terminal before I stopped to pick up my folks a few nights ago at the airport.

I did not so much choose the aspect but rather stopped on my way in, when I saw what I saw.

After I looked at the photo on my computer screen, I could not believe the backlighting because at 9:38 p.m. there was no visible backlighting. This was a handheld shot. I thought it would be a noisy blur. It was much more clear than expected; a tribute to the equipment I used rather than to the photographer as I was on fully automatic when I shot it.

The Dubuque Airport Terminal built in 2016 using a design style reminiscent of Frank Lloyd Wright's architectural style.

Hoping for grandchildren . . . not holding my breath. I am glad my daughter is focusing on her life now, and her professional life. I could not be more proud. While I am still hopeful. I have to take her out on another Pentax cross country journey. We photographed a beaver's work, and a nesting bald eagle. Maybe a church theme from her baptisimal church???? Or should I take her fishing for bullheads (like me)?

Packard was a luxury car brand. The paint color can't help its value. Improbable that paint is the reflection of an original Packard color.

Abstract Rose bush - Earth Song

Larry,

Knockouts are easy to grow and were patented. Earth Song is less well-known, more vigorous, has better formed roses. The blooms pictured here are still colorful but are mostly toward the end of their bloom cycle, and not the high-centered blooms they were a week earlier.

Nice photo of the Iowa's state bird. It is such a tiny bird, and I imagine difficult to photograph. It is shy around humans. Its colors evoke the colors of football Saturdays in Iowa City.

Good capture!

Abstract Hawkeye Belle

This is Hawkeye Belle, a Griffith Buck rose. It is unscented, but very floriferous. It blooms like a grandiflora, and is characterized by the American Rose Society as a "shrub rose."

It shares the characteristics of other Griffith Buck roses in that it is hardy without winter cover in Zone 4-A, and disease resistant.

Abstract Rose: Intrigue, and its sport

About 4-years ago this rose, which originally was Intrigue, sported. A sport is a mutation. Half the bush is now a pink rose with all the same characteristics of the original rose bush I planted about 15-20 years ago. The other half blooms as Intrigue, which is a deep red/purple rose. They each have the same scent.

Abstract Rose bush - Earth Song

If any of you feel you are incapable of growing roses, here is one you can't miss with. Earth Song is a Griffith Buck rose that is disease resistant, winter hardy, and fills the space of two rose bushes. Griffith Buck was an Iowa State University professor. He hybridized roses. Iowa State gave him a test plot to use. If the rose was hardy, and disease resistant he released it into commerce, but the roses were never patented. If it comes back in Ames, Iowa with no winter cover, it is hardy. His roses appear as floribundas, grandifloras, and hybrid teas. They do not have old rose forms, generally. I don't think he made a dollar off any of his efforts other than as a professor at Iowa State. After he died, Iowa State did the unthinkable, and plowed is test garden under. Some of his roses that were no longer in commerce have probably been lost forever.

Earth Song has a mild fruity scent. It is one of the most floriferous roses I have grown. It is certainly the most floriferous scented hybrid tea I have grown. It blooms almost continuously during the season.

No amount of photographing shows the true effect this rose has on me when observing it from a distance of 4' away, or closer.
