KP on the way......any advice on setup

I have a few macros for my KP: The M100/4macro that can be had affordably, the slightly more expensive Sigma 70macro and the rare Sigma180macro.
In addition i have a few close focus lenses (not really macro) like the F35-70 and F35-135. Handy as a walk around lens when you suddenly need to take close photos of something.

The real gem is my bellows that I use mainly with my M50/1.7

Seb, who recently also upgraded to the KP.

Pentax-A* 200/4 Macro vs Voigtlander 180/4

A true macro in that focal length is a beast to carry on a hike. The options not yet mentioned are the Sigma and Tamron 180mm macros. I have the former.

Carrier friendly (and budget friendly!!!) options are the F35-135mm with the pseudo macro (=close focus). Or the F35-105.

Some smartwatches without GPS connect to your phone for location.
Why didn't they think of this for the KP?

The one (Ultima) in the camera is rated 45Mb/s. Works just fine.
Usually I go with Kingston, Samsung or Sandisk (in alphabethical order). None of these brands have failed me.
The Samsung in my security camera with overlapping recording has worked for 8 years.

I assume I had a similar clone with the Tamron Popular brand.
For a low price it is a fun lens to play with (light) but the IQ is nothing to brag about.
The DA55-300 with any 1.4x teleconverter surely gives better pics. Or cropping from any tele lens.
I did not regret buying mine, but I soon sold it. My Tokina 500mm mirror is better.

Can it be on top of the focusing screen? I did clean the focusing screen lower side.
So air or tampering withthe focusing screen by opening it?

I have a dust spec showing in the viewfinder below the brackets. It is there regardless of the lens, so its a KP issue.

I cleaned the viewfinder, mirror and the sensor. I got the dust spec to move, but it is NOT on any of the mentioned surfaces.
Ideas of the location?

There are any macros between 60 and 105mm to choose from, but I'd go for a faster prime.

to grip or not to grip!?

Now I have 6 batteries. I do not use the flash that much so I shoot 300+ with one (original Pentax) battery on the K30, I would guess the same goes for the KP.

I keep the screen and power off at a quite short interval, so if I forget to turn the power off when not shooting it will not empty the battery.

So I do not need the grip. I rather carry 5 batteries in my pocket. But if I would shoot long video the need for grip would be obvious.

PS: anyone made a silver KP banner yet?

Found a almost new silver KP at a reasonable price, and went for it. A huge load of spare batteries came along.
The KP is a major upgrade from my K30, not only the hardware but the user interface is a leap forward (at least more complex).
Are there any settings that one should AVOID? Somehow I often get overexposed shots when trying out different modes.
Yes I know there is that ridiculous auto mode. My photographic ego aches when I use it.

PS: Is there a silver KP banner?

Deformed batteries

Hi!

(Yes, I do intend to recycle the batteries properly.)
I did not encounter this on any camera battery before this. And it has not been discussed much here either on this forum.

My Dell had a deforming battery, replaced on warranty after less than a year of service. And I had a phone long ago that did the same.

As for hazards, the 1000mAh range batteries are not near the power bank ranges (>10 000mAh) that aren't allowed on a plane.

Deformed batteries

Hi!

As I newly aquired a used KP, I got a bunch of extra 3rd party D-Li109 compatible batteries.
One (powtree with a whopping 1400mAh capacity) was clearly deformed. It wiggles when placed on a flat surface.

So I checked my old batteries as well, one Inov8 (1050mAh) might be a bit thicker in the middle, but passes barely my non-scientific wiggle-test.
The Pentax ones are perfect.

Is this a common issue? Did not find such a topic here in this forum.

Identifying the mount

No, it does not exist, you would have to unscrew the old Ni-flange, measure it and make a new PK-one 1.4mm shorter. Quite an engineering task.

Maybe 3D-print a plastic PK-flange would do as a fix? Unless it was cheap, return it. There are many alternatives for a 500mm mirror lens...

LBA is over when you have aquired the A*1200, the FA*250-600 and the FA*200macro.
Of course then you become also keen on Leica and but the FA43 in that format.

Need some help with my options of camera and lenses

I have been waiting for bargains, somehow missed out on new K70 for <500€ and new KP <650€. They both have the same battery as in the K30 which is a plus for me.
Last year I used my cameras far less than usual, hence my hestiation that ended in price increases.
10 000 actuations are my limit on used bodies.

I have 3 macro lenses: Sigma 70, Pentax M100 and the Sigma 180. All are terrific and different.

The best for close ups is my Pentax bellows with any M-series lens attached. Mostly the M50/1.7.

Thanks.

Sugru and Loctite kintsuglue seem to be available over here, JB Weld is "coming" so apparently not yet available.
I have clear (yellowish) epoxy already.

Some epoxy might fit the bill, I want it to be hard.
The Loctite looks promising.
