Some of my better shots, but they never turn out like you hoped they would.

We're back. I took the 21mm HD Ltd, 35mm Ltd Macro and the 77mm Ltd. Of the 3, the 21mm got the most use, mostly because (I think) of the beautiful landscapes and scenery. I'm going to work on the pics this weekend and will post the best few.

Well, we're leaving Friday and I picked up an HD 21mm Ltd here on the classifieds, so think now of taking that, plus the 35mm Ltd Macro and the 77mm Ltd, leaving the 18-135 at home. Hope I won't miss the zoom of the 18-135mm. Would I find much use for the 35mm Ltd Macro? The 21mm HD Ltd seems to be the better walkaround lens.

I would love to get to the big island, but those new large lava flows started after we booked our trip. And everyone I talked to said to not island hop on the vacation otherwise all you'll do is spend your time travelling. That's why we picked Oahu and Kauai for our ten days, 5 at each island.

I should mention that my zoom is actually the 18-135, not the 18-250. I'm still inclined to take the primes vs just the 18-135mm, based on the discussions here.

I don't have the 21 but could pick one up, or maybe even a 15mm. No kids. Just a long overdue longest-vacation-in-years trip with the wife. And spending some time with the best man at my wedding whom I've not seen in some 32 years.

Or maybe the DA21 Ltd for walkaround and then just the FA77 Ltd? And maybe the Panasonic Lumix point and shoot for zoom?

We're going to spend 10 days in Hawaii in mid October, 5 on Oahu and 5 on Kauai. I've sort of resigned myself to taking along my K5iis and some combination of my DA18-250,DA 35mm F2.8 Limited Macro, and FA 77mm F1.8 Limited lenses. The other consideration was a good, small point and shoot for the obvious reasons of not having to lug around the K5 and lenses, even though my thought is why not take the best camera available on your trip of a lifetime?

Anyone been in a similar situation and what did you do? Lens recommendations good, too.

I suppose these pics could be as much about the FA77 Ltd I just picked up on the marketplace, as they are about my K5IIs. I've only ever posted a couple pics, but this camera and lens combo practically takes its own nice pics

Item for Sale
SMC Pentax-DA 1:4-5.8 55-300mm ED (not the DL version)

Asking Price
285.00 USD

Item Location
Madison Wisconsin (United States)

Item Description
I'm the original owner. Comes with it's pouch and both caps. I've just bought an 18-135 and find I use this lens so little, that someone should use it more. Honestly, I don't think I've shot even 100 pictures with it. Like new condition. Glass is spotless.

For an additional $15, I'll throw in a 58mm Hoyer PL-CIR polarizing filter.

Cost includes shipping, and no paypal fees. A beautiful lens. Will be lovingly packed.

Don't walk.....run to this deal!

35mm Macro 2.8 Ltd as a walk-around lens

We recently visited my snowbird parents in Phoenix. I boldly went where I hadn't gone before and only took the 35 2.8 Macro Ltd for use as my walk-around lens with my K5. Mission accomplished. I didn't really miss zoom, was able to crop adequately, but at times would have liked a little shorter focal length during our hikes in the desert. Still, overall was pleased.

Sears 135mm Macro multi-coated 2.8 A version w UV filter

Asking Price
25.00 USD

Item Location
Madison Wisconsin (United States)

Item Description
Nice 135mm Sears Macro 2.8 A version. I'm thinning the heard a bit as my other hobbies are taking precedence these days. Nice condition. Fully functional. Clean. I had fun with it and have owned it about 5 years. Caps included. It's one of those lenses you sort of take a chance on then find out it's a pretty neat little lens that takes great pics with nice bokeh. Some have said focusing can be a bit loose. My copy is smooth as a baby's bottom and buttery too with just the right amount of resistance. The included UV filter has a small chip in the glass (as indicated in the picture) but it's on the edge and does not affect the pictures.

You'll only pay actual shipping.
