It looks good, I look forward to reading the first reviews and experiences and seeing some shots. The price is going to be beyond my budget so no regrets going for a KP but in a couple of years who knows.

Just be sure it's genuine. I've had one 'commercial offer' email with 3 numbers to call, no real detail, nothing I could look up, so almost certainly a scam. If it isn't a scam, well done and good luck.

A month on and 600 shots later, me and the KP are beginning to get to know each other.
The DA40 and some much photographed old Groynes on the local Caldy Beach. Slightly muddy getting out there and the dog did not do as he was told and stay on the sand!

Without a strap on it does dangle down annoyingly but with a strap on it moves out the way as you grip the camera. You also adapt, I grip the KP from the bottom up not from the top down.

A few people have mentioned the KP not being as comfortable to hold with larger lenses but I've adapted quite quickly to holding it with my largest lens the Tamron 70-200. Initially it did feel clumsier with that lens but because the KP has 'dropped shoulders' in comparison to the K5, say, I found my palm just cupping under the camera more, in fact I didn't really discern any difficulty using it for an hour or so the other day. I've still got the large grip on because that felt more natural coming from the K5 but I shall probably move to the medium grip soon.

And to answer my own question after buying one on Amazon, I contacted Ricoh about it, who said, proof of purchase is all you need, so print it out and stick it in the box!

From my new KP, this is just the kind of image my K5 struggled with, a higher iso on a dull day in an almost monochrome landscape would produce a lot of sensor noise. It still exists here in the KP image but at manageable levels and the extra sharpness and detail from the sensor means less or no balancing of sharpness and noise reduction. There would be even less noise if I'd got the exposure right, very impressed with the KP.
And the photo is people walking out to Hibre Island off the Wirral coast |

Labradors; water and food, it's impossible to keep them away from either. The stinkiest green pool, the stalest most squashed piece of bread, magnets to a Labrador.

I've recently bought the KP. I thought about hanging on for the K-new but I decided two things, one it will probably be more than my budget and two, that the KP suits what i need. Somebody on here wrote that the KP suited the DA Ltd range perfectly and they seem to be the lenses I favour. I've only had it a few days but no regrets about that decision, the KP is a fabulous camera.

Lighthouse - It's not actually a Lighthouse but a folly and someone's home. It dominates the skyline around that bit of coast though. |

I've just bought a Kp new, which in 40 years is only the third new camera I've ever bought and all of them were Pentax's. Yeah it handles quite differently to the K5 but I'm already adapting, slightly different grip etc... It looks great and I was completely sold when I checked the first image off it, in fact I'm still looking for the socks I was wearing at the time.

I think it's going to be my go to lens and the 20 and 40 will remain for times when I need something more compact. The 70 is a lens I really want to try and the 55-300 also. Previously my K5 wouldn't run the plm lens but my newly arrived KP will. The arrival of the KP pretty much completes a journey I've been on for the last 18 months which was to finally put together a complete camera kit which suits me. I've kinda taken a half arsed approach in the past not wanting to spend money and not really knowing if I did what I should spend it on.
The 20-40 also looks great on the Kp.

My version of Lightroom doesn't show the lens in EXIF either, even though it has a profile for it. Raw Therapee does but as you say exporting it from Raw Therape to a TIFF or Jpg doesn't seem to add the name to the EXIF. So in Lightroom it's an unknown lens which is a slight irritation but this version (5.7) is starting to have a growing number of slight irritations. I did add an extension lens tagger but it's clumsy to use.

Yeah you're probably right about them serving a different purpose. After some quick test shots the weaker end of the 20-40 seems to be the 40 end but weak is relative here, so if anything I'd probably keep the 40 but......
The push on cap keeps coming off taking it in and out of my bag so I have ordered a pinch cap for it and the hood will probably live separately in my bag for the moments I need it.

I think I'll need to adapt as well. A few test shots I've taken don't show much difference between it and the DA 21 and 40, so I'll use it for a while and then decide what suits me. I don't need three lenses covering the same focal length.
