I bought a Canon T3i for video

Good call on switching to Canon for video. I use the t3i for music videos all the time. The articulating screen is a HUGE help. I had been borrowing Canon t2i and 7D from friends, but got the t3i as soon as it came out. You might want to pick up the Canon 50mm f1.8. It's pretty cheap at $100 and if you're going to get ONE canon lens, that's probably the best value for shooting video. Nice to have at least one Canon lens with autofocus in case you want to snap some pics after your video shoot and don't have time to manually focus every photo.
Get one or two of those Pentax->Canon adapters. Then get some vintage pentax lenses on eBay. You can get a good 28mm f2.8 for $30. Between that and the 50mm you'll mostly be covered.
I'm also a huge fan of the t3i's ability to manually set the audio recording levels. I use a RODE shotgun mic. Sounds decent.
That being said, the t3i does feel like a TOY compared to my K20D which I still use for photos.

K20d rules the school. My other camera is a new canon t3i (which cost $200 more than my k20d) that i use for video.

For shooting stills, I prefer the 2 year old Pentax to the Canon, even though the canon has more MPs and slightly better high ISO performance. the t3i just feels like a toy in comparison. The k20 is built SO well and all the controls are great for changing settings on the fly.

That lens will be great for live concert photography. Not really idea for everyday use. I'd recommend a 50mm 1.4 instead

K100D, K20D, K-x? I'm at a crossroads

I have the K20d and love it. The weather sealing is useful and certainly gives peace of mind. I took this picture on a recent safari. It was raining pretty hard.

There was another photographer in our trip with a Canon T2i. He was taking pictures in the rain and got a "Card error." Even when he tried a backup SD card, he still got the same error. He couldn't take pics for the rest of that game drive! Haha, that's one for team Pentax!!

The k20d is pretty unusable at ISO 3200. Even ISO 1600 is pushing it (black and white looks okay). I even have noise reduction set to high. I shoot a lot of music photography so I'm pretty well experienced with the K20d in low light situations. That being said, a little "grit" never killed anyone. This is ISO 6400

If you're rocking a f1.4 at 1/90th and ISO 800 and still not getting satisfying results with a monopod... ....You might want to ask the person controlling lights if they can brighten up the stage a bit for you! Seriously.

My only 2 complaints of the k20d are lack of video and mediocre high ISO performance. Have you looked into the Kr? That could be a really good option for you.

I have the K20d and rarely use that top screen. I usually just check settings in the viewfinder.
