do not use any type of oil.it will find its way to the shutter and you will certainly cry. try a small amount of alcohol after you remove the base plate as suggested by others here

use a friction tool to take out the front lens group ,then there is a grub screw on the inside loosen it or take it out . Then spin the front hood off , the from there you will see three brass slotted screw remove them and slide it off. at that point you can clean it . of coarse do it at your own risk. if you want go further than that let me know or pm me. Actually I BELEIVE i had postted instruction in the data base, but not sure if they are still there either way have them. oh one quick note there is no adjustment on the focus barrel and if you spit the helical you have to nails it on re assemble.

I would advise you to clean it a well as possible with the focus barrel off and re-lube from there.Otherwise I have completely rebuilt this Lens and have saved instructions. But again this is highly complicated and not suggested as your first rebuild. Not saying it is your first but if it is then dont try it.

You know this is very tragic, but I AGREE with some others here they should replace it free of charge at this point. God know what else is messed up at a result of the shock it took. I WOULD have them take it back.Either way good luck.
