aperture problems k 30-- a lenses

As you have an aperture ring on the Tamron lens, try it out with manually chosen apertures, forget about using the A setting. While I am not familiar with the K-30 (and K-50) aperture problem I seem to remember reading somewhere in the forum that the camera will correctly expose. Otherwise as suggested by pepperberry farm, use it fully manual.

What's the best 135mm M42 lens?

I am no doubt such a poor photographer that I could not get as good an image from a Jupiter 11A but that is not going to stop me trying to purchase one, hopefully a bit cheaper than the ones I have bid on at auction. I'm not sure which is my favourite of my collection of 135mm lenses, perhaps the CZJ 135mm F3.5 Sonnar...or the Super Tak 135mm F3.5 ...or one of the others.
This Jupiter image is great!

This morning I bought another CZJ MC S 135mm f3.5. It has a couple of dust specs inside but works nicely.
I could not let it stay on the shelf priced at GBP 15 could I? OK maybe I could if the red mist had not descended on me.
A bargain!

Trouble about 135mm M42: any suggestion please

There are comments everywhere suggesting it is hard to find a poor 135mm lens, personally I have more than 10 different lenses, some without coatings at all but I do not have the Tamron F2.8 version, only the aforementioned F2.5 close focus version that I like as much as any other even though it is soft at F2.5 but perhaps good enough for portraits?
My approach to old manual 135mm lenses has been a little stupid in as much as have so many more than I shall ever need to use.
The CZJ Sonnar is a good sharp lens, I have the zebra and have not noticed any CA.
The Pentacon 135mm F2.8 is not nearly as sharp but has other endearing qualities.
There are cult 135mm lenses.....CZJ 135mm F4? but I do not own anything so valuable or indeed Russian......yet.
While you are looking for one to suit, you could pick up some at very low prices experiment and maybe get lucky!

New to me Tamron 135mm F2.5, trying it out when we get some sun.
This Blackbird is probably one of the juveniles from last year, I am thinking that as a female Blackbird (Mum?) bullies it a lot.

Bit of a cheat here, it is an image taken off the TV when I was playing with my latest Helios lens. No idea why the colours came out like this, maybe because it is a Plasma TV.

Suggestions for a cheap flashgun for K30

You might look a then used Sigma flash options for P-TTL, the EF 530 DG Super for example. This is suitable for HSS too should you want to expand your flash usage. I found one for 40.
Check out the details online, on paper it seems quite impressive. I have yet to use mine unfortunately apart from testing it.

Thank you for the information, I have had a read of some pancolar reviews and it is quite highly regarded by some.
It would be nice to consider butchering it to use on my Pentax digital but before I contemplate doing that (and my skills indicate it would be butchering) I shall enjoy it on my Praktica.

A question about a CZJ P 50mm F1.8 lens, this club will know the answer.
I picked up a Praktica with this lens on it (I do know it's a bayonet mount) as it looked in very good condition.
Is this just a re-badged Pentacon? or just something cheap and cheerful that they stuck on it. I do have a Praktica with a 50mm F2.4 lens on it that I am not impressed with but am awaiting another battery to operate the meter before I run a film through this latest one.

Taken with the Tamron 80-210mm (103A), taken wide open at 210mm.
This lens is a steal, mine cost me GBP 17.49 and came with a PK-A adapter.
You might say the lens was given away!
You just have to appreciate what the adaptall system gave us, even the budget lenses are good to use.

I did not expect it to recognise the lens but I did expect the top LCD to show it as well as the rear LCD which does show it. Would the black anodised mount be the sole reason for this anomaly?

No, the F stop shows in the rear LCD, everything works as an "A" lens should, it's just that the top LCD does not feature the F stop. It's not a problem really as the rear LCD will be used, I just wondered why the top LCD had the F stop missing on the K-5 and K20D.

This was taken with the DA 18-55 kit lens with all 3 tubes attached, as you can see from the data, it requires manual input of the focal length but the F stop is not displayed in the top LCD

A question about PK-A extension tubes.

I received a set of Aico PK-A extension tubes today, they are identical to the Jessops PK-A tubes in 3rd party reviews bar the name and the fact these extension tubes also have a (recessed) Ricoh pin.
I have read the reviews of the Jessops tubes and note that the lack of a "seventh" contact on the black anodised mount means they have a problem displaying the F stop number in top LCD unless some anodise is scraped off.
I had the same problem with my K-5 and K20D.
I did note that using the rear LCD on the K-5, the F stop number IS shown and changing it by the rear wheel is fine!

Any explanation for this behaviour?

Makinon lenses (such as these) do not have a great reputation, so I doubt that I would use them with an adapter but thank you for pointing that out.

Macro lens on the cheap

Beware the temptation to get a dedicated macro lens, for insects I have used a Sigma 50mm F2.8 MF and a Tamron 90mm F2.5 (52B and 52BB models) I have tried extension tubes and bellows but at my level of inexpertise, having the "A" setting on a macro lens is so much easier than these methods (unless the tubes have the "A" setting).
The Tamron I have is an adaptall and I have the PKA mount, Tamron dedicated tube and SP 2x teleconverter to achieve 1:1 macro with the "A" setting on the aperture. The Sigma is naturally 1:1 macro but needs to be close to insects so can often disturb them. Here are a couple of flies playing leapfrog on a flower, taken with the Sigma.

Thank you everybody. I have a friend with an old Konica so will ask him when I see him in December if I can run a film through it and see how the 200mm goes.
The 135mm F2.8 has a wide open inoperable iris and I can take it to bits and junk it when I've lost some parts....or the plot.

I bought a couple of lenses and some extension tubes at auction, not very well pictured in the images and no real information regarding their mount. I saw the AE and the K on the lenses and hoped they would be Pentax K. My mistake!
But what mount are they?
