If you can sell those "great" images on the art market, do feel free to brag here about the price.

I've tamed my Tamron, and finally fallen in love with it, by using it on a K-01.

Your sympathy is appreciated, but unfortunately there is no backup plan for my aging body!

Apples (DSLR) and oranges (MILC). The Fuji certainly vignettes more. Correct that, and you'll have a noisier image.
The world must be eager to know you think maximum apertures of macro lenses are stupid. Or is the wine talking here?

Pentax, like so many of us, has numerous copies of the 18-55 that they're having a hard time getting rid of.

Compact? The K5 flagship, which does have a decent top LCD, was smaller than the KP in every linear dimension.

Like the Q system in its end phase, the 645 system is hanging on until the current stock of lenses is sold off.

The 645 system is currently stuck in the kind of limbo where the Q system languished before its demise. Ricoh is unlikely to invest any design effort there. (Said, with a desparate hope of being proved wrong!)

The Super Angulon has weak edges, which could be improved by modern glass. This is basically what I expect the D FA 21 Ltd to look like.
I am talking about scaling up all round, seeing the 21 mm FF focal length as close to (slightly wider than) the DA 15 on APS-C. Like the FA 31 being the FF counterpart of the DA 21 (although the chronology is reversed).

The FA 20/2.8 is way lighter than the Leica Super Angulon-R 21/4 . The DA 15, scaled up to provide decent coverage of 24x36mm, would also be a substantial hunk of glass.

It's been a classic, ever since the Leica Super Angulons for M and R.

Over the regular visible light spectrum, it should perform the same as any (genuinely) apochromatic lens.

You can check the top LCD on startup.
But I got my first "No Card in Camera" message a couple of days ago. Thing is, I'd been shooting for a while, and chimping the images, so there really was a card in the camera!
Explanation? It was cold, around the lower operating limit for the K-1. But that low limit is no use, if it's below the temperature limit for the card.
Back in the warm, I took out the battery to recharge it, and let the camera and the card get back to their comfort zone.
Unfortunately, the K-1 with a good lens is too large to keep under my coat, the way I've usually done before with lesser cameras.

The K-01 was directed at the "art" market, not the snapshot market.
For the "art" market, if the light is so harsh that you cannot see the screen,
then the light is most likely too harsh to make a worthwhile photograph anyway.

As usual, you are deflecting.
I am talking about the last run of "smurf" production.
Try portrait orientation instead, then you might understand the K-01 and K-S2 better.

The title of this thread illustrates nothing.
It is a "When did you stop beating your wife?"-type question.
The K-01 was even successful enough for it to experience a brief post-discontinuation revival.
Don't forget the K-S2.
It inherited the boxy shape of the K-01 that lets you stand it on a flat surface when a tripod is not an option.
And the flippiness of its screen is unrivalled in real-camera Pentaxland.

Added space and weight, on a camera that's already criticized for being too large and heavy (generally by comparison with the flimsy Sony Nex range).
My K-01 with a keyhole-peeper's viewfinder is a K-50. I only have one K-50, but three K-01s (one for K-mount, one for M42, and one for redundancy).

I would not have bought any, let alone the three I have, if they'd been fitted with an Evil View Finder.

I've had my M 200 f/4 for several years now. At first, using it on a K-x, I was rather uncomfortable with it, and found it hard to focus. But, the more I've used it, the more I've grown to love it, and the images it produces. It now lives on my K-50, and is a favorite walk-around lens. I suppose it has a long learning curve, but once you master it, it is a very rewarding lens. And they're really cheap for what they can deliver. |
