This is a saw handle made by the Bay State Saw Manufacturing Company. Walt, I have a couple of those Stanley Surform tools. An ancestor of mine named Thomas Stanley was a Revolutionary War vet that left Connecticut and moved to Ohio 1789. Descendants of his cousins founded the Stanley Works and the Stanley Rule and Level Company, which later merged and today is Stanley Black and Decker. Well at least they named a town (Stanleyville, Ohio, a tiny town) after him.

Most people thing fog is bad weather, but it's a photographer's dream, except I would have liked to see the full moon this morning. This is the sun burning a hole in the fog.

Pentax K-1 Purple Photos & More - Sensor Or Control Board Problem?

Very odd problem, looks very serious, Precision's estimate is not a flat rate fee, you need to read that a little closer.

?#1 k-70 aperture block, which repair service?

I thought I read somewhere here about people using solenoids from film cameras.

I would assume Precision replace the entire aperture block and not just the solenoid since the are the only official Pentax repair facility for the US. KEH cannot get new parts, but they may be able to do a solenoid replacement.

They are here around the house, but this just seemed odd because it was out in the natural area, might see a couple dozen cars go by in a day. That day I walked six miles and saw no other human, drove about 20 in the place and saw one truck, I love it!

An external mic will be better, but not as good as an external audio recorder. You sync them up in the video editing software. Also a dedicated good quality video camera will work better than a ILC. That said you can still do excellent work with either, they are all tools to get the job done.

Spare batteries for KP

The genuine Pentax are usually best, but I do have one that is not very good, in fact it's not as good as one that is five years older. Some of the third parties are not bad, but I've not seen any as good as the Pentax. I have some Wasabis that seem pretty good, some Newmowas just a step below. I had a couple DSTE batteries that were below average. I bought some BM (Big Mikes) from Amazon that I returned, they were junk. I would rather buy the Pentax, but I can get four Wasabis for the price of one Pentax, and they are not that far below.

If you see any battery start to swell, dispose of it right away.

Here is another one that has come in very handy over the years, this little light box. I don't have it listed on my photography buys spreadsheet so I know I didn't pay too much for it, I do know I got it on ebay. It came with two lights and 4 backdrops, and the box part folds up to carry flat, with pockets for the lights but not for the backdrops. The original bulbs burned very hot, but as they needed replaced I was able to do so with LED lights, taking care of the heat problem. The back drops are not great, but they will work (red, blue, white, black). There are some newer one out now that are improved, with the white fabric on all three sides and the bottom and top. I'm thinking I paid around $15 for this and it was well worth it. The little tripod shown did not come with this, it is a MeFoto Daytrip which works great as a tabletop tripod, although I did replace the QR with a full size Arca style QR system, since it came with a mini Arca style. I don't think they make that model anymore.

It's not often a bird poses for you, but I felt this bird did. I was on a six mile walk through a nearby Game Land this morning and as I got back to my truck this bird was sitting pretty close by, I took some photos which were OK even though the bird had some branches in front of it. Suddenly as I thought it was going to fly away, it came closer and stood there while I took a few photos. I quit shooting and walked around and put some things in the other side of the truck, t the door and it actually stayed there, I took one or two more and off it went.

It might but just not on the screen since the format is for a phone, if you haven't already, go to that page and hit "control -" (minus sign) to see if it reduces the image to fit within your display.

By the way, Instagram is 1080 x 1080 px, so anything I upload there is square cropped and exported at 1080x1080, 72 ppi, that way they should not be re-sized.

You are correct, I've looked for that for a long time, but it is not available. I would prefer to upload them from my computer anyway, that way I can format them for instagram, and I don't necessarily post the same images there anyway.

You can upload to Instagram on a computer, there are ways. I am using a Mac, I have to go into theSafari Browser/Develop/User Agent/and select iphone . . You actually have to trick the app into thinking you are using a phone to upload, because their computer web interface doesn't have an upload method. How goofy is that?

Lots of print magazines, not just photographic, have shut down, reduced issues, and even went to web only. I get Outdoor Photographer, even though I stopped subscribing a few years ago, the content is just not that good anymore. They need to have distribution numbers to sell advertising so they just give it away. Who knows how long it will hang on, the camera companies seem to be advertising less and less.

Z1 Sold Out Due to Popularity

I guess they didn’t like the confusion they created with the K-3III parts shortage notice, so they changed it to popularity. If they made 100 and sold them all they could say that. Parts availability strikes again.

Much better message.

timewarp - small sensor and megapixels

I have an Olympus FE-4020 14 mp (1/2.3" sensor) (circa 2010, but I got 2 or 3 years later) that I got from "some award at work" where they give you link to a catalog of junk. I haven't used it much, but nothing is sharp or has any detail. Before I got my first DSLR (K20D in 2009) I had a Konica-Minolta Z2 4mp (1/2.5" sensor) 10x zoom which really was quite good for the time. Interestingly the Z1 was a Minolta, so this was produced at the time of the merger. I think they may have pushed those small sensors into a too small of megapixel range.
