Looks like I missed this party - I need to come around more - one of the few sane places on the interwebs.
This one was... er... is my profile pic? I'll know/remember in just a sec.

Edit: is.

The formal title is actually "Your Majesty".... or "Your Worshipfulness" if you're feeling feisty.

It's the whole Falcon crew - I'm pretty sure that's why I backed up and leaned against the car because I noticed the new window shade up. :)

Baking became 2020's biggest passtime around here, like so many others, and certainly became more prevalent than my waning film photography. Some lovely sourdough brioche buns from a couple months back.

I got my gal to turn the 67ii on me this past August because I'm not sure there were more than 1 or 2 frames of me through that camera over the years. Was mostly trying to finish up a roll from our wedding. :) Some expired Portra 800 that sat far too long after shooting to boot.

As with my GRDIII and GRDIV, with my GR and GRIII, both of which I had since their respective launches, I've been "lucky". Still using the GRIII (the only of those that I still own) and no dust issues to report. It's not a non-issue, quite obviously, that's true. But this iteration certainly seems far less prone based on number of reports alone. The fact of the matter is that virtually all retractable lens design compact cameras are susceptible. Careful handling and storage will not remove the risk, but it certainly (quite understandably) will lessen the chances.

I remember when those episodes were first available we were in the thick of it all and my lady humored me and helped me pause/rewind/pause/rewind to figure out exactly what model it was. :D Noticed it immediately and couldn't focus on the rest of the show until *that* mystery was solved.

I love the stuff but it is EXTREMELY contrasty. I take it out on sunny days just to see what it'll do. And what it'll do is bury blacks and cook whites in a heartbeat. But damn if it doesn't do it in style. On even-light, really gray days it can be spectacular.

Like so...

years in the mist by Kevin Rosinbum (Eyewanders Foto), on Flickr

This was two frames from the MX, on one of the dreariest days imaginable (as the Olympic coast is prone to) pano-stitched with ICE. I've got this one printed and wood-mounted on the wall. :)

edit: I've also found it behaves itself a bit more with XTOL than with any other developer I've tried. (Or rather the few labs I use these days have tried, as it were.)

Finally got around to developing the first test-roll I ran through the Top IC-1 Auto that I fixed up this past winter. Seeing the result with these mundane shots made me wish I'd done so sooner. Really happy with this little shooter - incredibly responsive shutter-priority (and manual of course) metering, and budget Hi Topcor 50/2 is wonderful to me. Sharper than I anticipated but with a lovely softness to it's out-of-focus rendering. I need to load this thing again soon. Shooting Konica AR bodies has turned me into something of a shutter-priority convert, at least when it's well executed like these needle-capture versions.

Howdy y'all. Haven't been around much lately but...
Got married to my longtime love back on the 18th September.... 2020 was going to bend to our will and not the other way around. There were many postponements over the past few years for a number of different reasons, most of them unfortunate and this time we finally decided it would just be our closest family and we'd get this thing done, finally, at long last. Not what we wished for; many were missed, but it was a certain kind of perfect nonetheless.
Most of my photo plans went out the window for the most part as well. All who were there for our tiny gathering were encouraged to smartphone snap away, and those photos shot on film were mostly done by my now sister-in-law; I loaded the 67ii and Pentax MZ-S with whatever I felt like that morning, preset the compensation as best I could think based on all the backlight and constantly changing cloud-cover, and handed her the giant beast and said "good luck!". She's a great eye and it all turned out fantastic, if a tad underexposed and shaky at times... but then, that's pretty much how this year has been. We're happy. These are just a couple of my favorites from the day.

Another option is FPP which has 1 and 2 liter kits. They've pretty good, pretty informal Youtube videos about it on the product page as well.

I'd agree with this. I had a SP a number of years back that had some electronic issues - eventually donated it to Eric. Though my current Super-Program has been rock-solid and bang-on for 4 or 5 years... but I generally don't trust any of these program varieties as I do the mechanical flavors.

Along those lines, I no longer go near Chinon with a 10-foot pole. I've been burned again and again by them. Great feature sets for the money but in my opinion some of the most unreliable and fragile bodies ever made. (I in fact just chucked my last one into a Goodwill giveaway box earlier this week!)

Excellent gateway body. :) If you've not yet looked through one of these viewfinders with a decently fast-fifty attached, you're in for an eye-opening treat.
I'd suggest the Super-Program (also known as Super-A in some markets) as well, if not a tad more. Honestly any of the program cameras are very good, compact starters and which ever you come across in the best condition for a good price is the way to go. None will disappoint. (They can all shoot at set speed, 1/125th is common, even without battery as mentioned above re: the ME Super.)

Personally I don't care for the touch-button manual operation, but if using in aperture priority mainly as you mention, that's not a concern. (And many folks happen to love it.)
I've turned no less than three shooters onto Pentax film bodies by way of a program variety camera in the past few years.

Just sold this H1a beauty to a new film shooter locally. Always love spreading the Pentax film SLR gospel. I still have my beat up H3v (SV), but felt it was time to let this one go. Nothing quite like the S series in terms of pure shooting pleasure in my opinion.

MX, LX or Super Program

Despite my love of the LX's handling, this is actually one of my only pet-peeves about the camera, and has a lot to do with why I often shoot my T4 the most these days. It's certainly not a complicated thing to work around it but a lock function, particularly the type that tie it to the shutter half-press, is a far quicker affair.

Markedly less than was available then, but there's still plenty to choose from and a number of very good new stocks. Kodak Ektar is a modern favorite of many... near transparency-level grain structure, color, and detail with the more forgiving nature of being a negative emulsion. Kodak re-released Ektachrome a year or more ago as well - a modern version which is frankly fantastic stuff. Fujifilm is slowly but sure retreating from film, but Superia varieties are excellent, everyday affordable C41 stocks.
