There is a lot to like in this collection, but I fully agree with Marina's mother. Should you have the chance to shoot her again, I'd encourage you to experiment more.

Very nice colors. I might play with the cropping a bit, either to make the train more prominent or to put it on the left third which will give it more of a sense of motion.

Of the 5 photos you show, the only one where the ring stands out from the background is the last one. I think the biggest problem here is how busy the rest of the frame is. I like the angle in the bottom set but would have rotated the ring clockwise (when looking down on it from above) to allow for some of the details in the band to be captured.

Mrs. Murphy: May I help you boys?
Elwood: You got any white bread?
Mrs. Murphy: Yes.
Elwood: I'll have some toasted white bread please.
Mrs. Murphy: You want butter or jam on that toast, honey?
Elwood: No ma'am, dry.
[Mrs. Murphy gives him a look, then turns to Jake]
Jake: Got any fried chicken?
Mrs. Murphy: Best damn chicken in the state.
Jake: Bring me four fried chickens and a Coke.
Mrs. Murphy: You want chicken wings or chicken legs?
Jake: Four fried chickens and a Coke.
Elwood: And some dry white toast please.
Mrs. Murphy: Y'all want anything to drink with that?
Elwood: No ma'am.
Jake: A Coke.
Mrs. Murphy: Be up in a minute

Your friend could also download a copy of FastStone Image Viewer which has a decent suite of editing tools and allows for batch conversions / image processing.

I'm glad you spoke up as I feel the same way too. The original works better because they are dead centre in the frame and so you need more of the landscape to make them stand out more. At least that's the way I see it.

A little late to the suggestion party, but fortunately I agree with your choice (and everyone else's). At the end of the day, the focus of the image is the lovely couple and how they feel about each other the moment, and the color balance in B helps make them stand out the most.

I posted these 4 years ago, but for some reason never spotted this thread, or perhaps haven't used my Helios often enough to jump in. But as these are two the more interesting images I've taken, I'll take the liberty of reposting here.

These were taken with a Helios 44 preset in m42 mount. I love the way you can subtly adjust the aperture. Everyone raves about the bokeh or out of focus rendering the Helios gives. Here are a couple of shots where the out of focus region was part of the main object.

For the second image, every time I look at it full screen I get a psychedelic feeling that the red regions are moving towards me. It did, however, lose something when I posted to this site, but worked really well as an 8x10.
