Yes it can be used on a FF body. You might want to get an off brand shorter hood.
some even compare it with the new DA*50 which it perform pretty well.
SLRCLUB, ??? ???? ?? ????

That page is one of the reason I buy it.

I will definitely get a new Pentax apsc flagship body if it coming out this year. I am not even care what will be in there. I am sure it will be a significant improvement.

Anything after 2019... The question for me will be changed to, if i will still be with the brand.

A piece of more information since some mentioned about Flange distance which I agree, it is very important on this topic.

[Flange distance / total thickness - all in mm]
A7III 18 / 74
KP 45.46 / 76
K1 45.46 / 85.5
K1000 film 45.46 / 48. * Edit

Sony uses up to 56mm after subtraction of its Flange distance.
KP uses 30.54mm
K1 uses 39.5mm
.

There is no way K-mount body will get to the same thickness as of 7AIII but KP/76mm is pretty close to 74mm of A7III. And my main point is, Can K1 go down to a similar size as of KP?

If you read the interview by Pentaxforums at CP+2019. Look closely at Q9. I am highly speculated (or fantasizing it, you decide!) that they are trying something like that somewhere in the basement of Ricoh building in Tokyo, miniature FF DSLR to the size of SLR. !!!

And on another point, I recently found this image online. Left a crop mirrorless body Vs Right 1972 SLR with mirror box in it + pentaprism on the head. The overall thickness doesn’t look that much difference. It is a crop vs ff body we are seeing here.

https://www.imaging-resource.com/PRODS/omd-em5/ZCOMPOM1TOP.JPG

1. Is it possible concerning the technology at hand today to have FF DSLR built in the size of the KP body? (and still can do everything KP or K3II does.) I remember reading something similar and back then one of the speculations was the SR system, but now as we see from Sony A7III. It has a built-in 5-Axis image stabilization. Sony proves that it possible now.

2. what needs to be sacificed to achieve such a small size?
I am just thinking out loud here. Let me know your thoughts.

I am more focus on physical size and weight of the Digital FF body today because that will make or break me with the brand. Hope it won't be turned to Mirrorless vs DSLR things. Focus on what possible, not possible to make it physically as small/light as a good old-time SLR body.

Any experience with Pentax replacement focusing screens?

I have the ME-60 you mentioned. I used to use it with K-5.
it is a clean blank screen and it doesn't seem to affect my K-5 meter. it is a genuine Pentax screen, so you don't have to worry it will affect camera light meter in a bad way.

As for helping manual focus...or not... I guess it is just for marketing. to me, as some already said, it doesn't help me manual focus at all.

And I think it helps me compost image a bit by not having any line printed on. Maybe I should put it back on. I left it in its box for years already.

I have the same problem a few times.
I have soot in heavy rain, typhoon type of wind and rain. If it is moisture, you will see another symptom too. The autofocus likely stops working and or you can visibly see internal condensation built up either on the viewfinder or on a photo you take, but the shutter will keep working. K3 is a mini tank. It will keep going.

I would say it is likely a battery problem. When it happens, remove the battery, put a new one and restart the camera.
I recommend keeping an eye on the battery. If it happens again with the same battery, don't keep using it. just get a new battery. At first, it was very random in my case. but when it happens, it is always with the same battery.

The genuine battery cames with my K-3 cause the problem when the power shows about one bar. Sometimes, I would say a weak 2 bar.
My K-5 battery which is older but never causes a problem. I can use until the battery icon turns red. It took me a while to find out that it was a battery problem.

I didn't notice any of this just 2 weeks ago when I took sample photos of the lens because I was trying to sale it. Just now, I am doing the last check before pack it up for shipping and I found this thing. I already notify the buyer and hopefully he didn't pay the money yet.

I think it is condensation but I only guess. what do you think?
If it doesn't go away in a few day, what can I do?

Disturbing news about an important photojournalist ...

I hope for the best for Mr. Lu Guang.
it take a lot of bravery sometime nerve to be a journalist standing on the truth side of the story inside a country like China.
I just watch on TV last night about how they put people data on the big-data server and give people score for just about anything... even what you often buy in a super market. Then using together with face, DNA and finger print recondition in real-time on public camera. You can pretty much see individual information of common people walking in public and captured by a security camera which is everywhere. I pretty sure they add non-chinese data into the database when they visit the country too.

People like Mr. Lu Guang might be tracked down by the very same system, but I wonder who will keep an eye on including evaluate and score those at the top of the government? beside that, if the system were hacked!!!

DA15 SMC - Free Express shipping + insurance worldwide

22,000.00 JPY

Item Location

Item Description
This lens is a SMC version. Read forum review here. I brought it new many year ago. I used to use it very often for years. Now my style change a bit and I haven't use it as much for the last 1 - 2 years. So I will let it go with a very low price point.(Prince is in Japanese Yen.) If you are looking for a cheap DA15, check it out. Feel free to private message me if you have questions. If you are in Tokyo, and want to try it out before buy, let me know.

Lens’s condition:
  1. lens show sign of extensive uses. Scratches on the barrel and all over but no damage to the glass and its auto-focus mechanism.

  2. Built in hood can now be removed! So that a filter holder can be directly attached to the lens. The stock Pentax build-in hood doesn’t lose its functionality (if you wish to keep it in place). It needs a bit of work to remove or reinstall the built-in hood which I will show in the image below.

  3. Hood wobble "a bit". I guess that is a direct result of the hood modification. HOWEVER, It is "not" affecting the Auto-focus & manual focus mechanism.

  4. I applied the nail polish to 3 of the internal screws. Please see image below. 2 of them was loosen inside around 2 years ago. It cause problem to lens's auto-focus. After the fix, it has never happened again. Note that, the screw came loose out of the blue.

  5. It comes with Pentax Rear Cap. Its own DA15 pouch (like new). Its box and manual, but Front cap is "O-LC49". (I loosed its metal cap some years ago.)

  6. I have a transparency protection film wrap around the lens's metal barrel for protection. I should have done it when it was still new! it can be removed if you want, but I advise to keep it on for protection. It is the same protection film people use for iPhone/iPad, so it won't turn yellow and it won't leave sticky glue behind after removal.

  7. No scratch on the glass

  8. No fungus.

  9. No damage or oil on aperture blades.

  10. No internal dust for as far as I can see.

  11. No problem with the auto-focus, quick-shift and manual mechanism.

How to improve image quality when use this lens

if you are on a high pixel density body like K-3, DA15 is not a good performer at the edges. But there is an easy way to improve image quality see from images below or you can read more here.
Right click to save full resolution image.

When you focus in the center of the image, it will turn out like this. I test using K3. As you can see, edge performance is ... pretty bad to me.

Tip: focus at an object close to the corners will improve edge sharpness without loosing center sharpness as see in image below.

Apply basic sharpening in post process and it will look even better.

Last time when I (seriously) check the price which was long ago! (But I think it is still truth.) Price for new Pentax gears in North America seems to be the lowest. Like the K1 / 1II prices. They were / are significant lower than in Japan (which piss me off and that’s why I remember. Ha ha. The same price to get a K1 in japan, I can get a K1 + a used FA31 in the US. who wouldn’t be pissed?). Therefore I though, Ricoh gives more attention to North America’s market… and now they open a showroom in china. I wonder why not North America?
Anyway, It is good for user over there.

I have 100wr too and below are lenes i have or used to have that i think It is (more than) satifactory in term of sharpness when compared to the 100 wr regardless of focal length.

Da21
Fa35
Fa50macro (this should include F and DFA too)
Da*55

I can't comment on lenses l have never used.

***edit***
I am using DFA100wr for landscape. I like its sharpness and rendering very much, so when searching for a 50mm, similar to you, I used what I see from 100 wr as a bar to meet. I ended up with FA50macro. After some months of using, I crowned it the sharpest lens in my bag. (I have no way to proof if it's sharper than 100wr. It was what I "feel". May be it is easier to use, so I use it more than the rest so I developed more emotion to the lens.) Later I want a 50mm WR lens, I didn't have much choice, I have to get the DA*55. and I couldn't believe, I let the 50 macro go. That's tell a lot. If 55* is still not sharp enough, the only option left would be using a knife to take a photo.
*Again, I am not saying who's sharper. I just say it out of my "feeling", no scientific proof.

Fuji mirrorless cameras...why change systems

I have a Canon fullframe friend go for Fuji apsc another one go for Sony for street and walk around shooting too.
From what he said. Fuji is a good lowlights and heightISO performer, weather sealed in a very small package, goodlooking lenses and body design, very comfortable in-hand, using with a camera grip because he is a big guy. They also have a lot of fast prime. And FF DSLR systems are too big and heavy for street and walk around. I totally agree with them. Another guy doesn't switch yet but will do soon. He looking at both Canon and sony FF Mirrorless and likely go with sony because Canon refused to put the shake reduction system in body.

We walk a lot each shooting trip, usually weekend, having lighter equipments helps a lot. K3and 2primes is my upper limit too. I would rather walk 6-8hours and shoot more with lighter system than spend my energy carry big heavy equipments and go less shoot less.

I assume you go out with a backpack?
Check out PeakDesign Capture Pro. I have Version 2. the current version is V3. it smaller and lighter. My larger V2 can be installed on a typical hiking style backpack's strap which is relatively thick, but with a smaller V3, I am doubt if it can do away with. Any way check it out.

Can someone tell me, Are the 5k leg's joints made of metal or plastic?

I read on amazon q&a some said metal, some said plastic!

I have the old plastic gorilla pod with a lot of cracked joints and I want to upgrade.
I did a few researches online and look like the new version which they call 5K could be the right one if its joints made of metal.

Anothor question if you already have the 5k, Do you like it? Would you rather get a similar size non-flexible legs, but lighter, carbon-fiber tripod like this one? amazon.com : FEISOL Mini Tripod TT-15 Mark 2 : Camera & Photo?tag=pentaxforums-20&

Thanks

I read a comment on the internet some time ago, I cannot remember word for word but it is something like - people talking about their brand moving into the mirrorless market, a new territory, etc but Pentax users can only / still talk about the 2 delayed lenses on the roadmap. I couldn’t angry at such comment but only laugh at myself… yeeeeah, that’s truth. whatever!
Hopefully i still happy with my k3.

Next year is the 100 year’s old birthday of the brand? I hope they have something more than a new shiny roadmap to show at CP+. Anything,… GR3.5.1.0 Gunmetal Limited Edition? bring it on
