Labtimer for Android

So I'm looking at developing color film and someone suggested the app Labtimer but I'm unable to find the app for Android. Does anyone know if this app is still available and if it is for Android devices also?

Is there another app that you use while developing color film to help with times on developing and stuff on film?

Thanks
Jim

Flash Cable Hi Speed Sync Question

I have a Pentax K1 and the Pentax AF540FGZ and I can shoot the camera at 1/1000 shutter and the flash attached will fire. I'm wondering if I attach the flash to the camera using a hot shoe cable (off camera shooting) would the camera still think the flash is attached to the hot shoe so I can still shoot at 1/1000 shutter speed?

Thanks
Jim

So how does the F*300 F/4.5 compare to the DA*300 F/4 image quality wise? I shoot motorcycle racing and wildlife and I do sometimes use the DA*300. But was wondering if the F*300 would be a step up from the DA*300.

Thanks

Time Lapse Questions.

Hello everyone, I have been given permission to photograph a event called "The Street Breakfast" it is a fund raiser for military families here in Colorado. So anyhow, it looks like I will have access to a building looking of the street intersection where this is going to happen and I was thinking I would try a timelapse series of shots from 11 p.m. Tuesday night till about 9-10 a.m. Wednesday night. Now I will be using my backup Pentax K3 with my Tameron 100-300. I have the battery grip with extra battery for the camera. But I'm needing help on determining the length of shots and how much time between shots. I will be turning off any and all noise reduction in the camera. I do have 2 128 gig cards to put in the camera to capture these dng pictures on. I'm wanting the time lapse to start with the empty intersection, then with the volunteers putting out the haybales in the interesection, then with the folks setting on the hale bales eating breakfast and then when the intersection is being cleaned up afterwards. While this is happening, I will be walking around taking pictures with my K-1 and Sigma 70-200 2.8. So the K3 will be all by itself.

If someone can help me figure this out I would greatly appreciate it. This will be my very first time lapse.

Thank you
Jim

I first emailed them about mine and they flat out told me "no, your lens is too old to work with the modern day digital cameras". After several people from here told to me to call Sigma and talk to some one that is what I did. And told the Sigma person the specs on the lens and he told me "oh yes, there is a K-1 update that we can do" and he gave me the link to the form I needed to fill out. Funny thing is the person who emailed me is the same person I talked to on the phone. I would call them with all your lens info in front of you and talk to them. The worst they could say is no.

Good luck with your lens.

Second attempt at horses with flash.

So I had another chance to shoot a few more horses today. This time I had 3 Pentax AF540FGZ and Cactus V6 off to the right about 12 feet off the ground and another one off to the left close to the same height off the ground. I did use a nd filter on all of these and I use a K1 and a 50mm f1.7. And I do want to get the background more oof and darker blue in the sky. I am pretty pleased with these are so are the two ladies who own them.

And I think this is my favorite from the whole day.

Thanks

Thank you everyone for your comments. I do have a few more people who wants to have their horse's picture taken tomorrow starting around 1 p.m. and then the last one is around 5. So I'm off to a camera shop here in Colorado Springs and see what kind of polarizing filters they have. Oh and my 4th flash came in so I will be firing with 4 flashes and I will not have any helpers. :)

Thanks and I will post the end results tomorrow.

Cactus V6 power control question.

Thank you, and I'm associating controlling power as the same as controlling the amount of light each flash produces. Is this correct?

Thanks again

I have a question for everyone. I will be using my 4 - af540fgz flashes, the K-1 and 5 of the Cactus V6's. If I have them all on the same channel (Channel A). I can control the power via the dial on the V6 that is attached to my camera?

Sorry I have been reading and reading the manual today and am just wanting to make sure I'm understanding it.

Thanks

Thanks, they should get it tomorrow and I am hoping to get it back soon after that.

The 70-200 has become my favorite lens on my K-3 for Barrel Racing and just walking around. I can't wait to get it back and try it out on the K-1.

Yeah luckily my 50-500 works fine on my K-1 and that is my lens I use for motorcycle racing. The 70-200 is my Barrel Racing lens because the events are at night. I might try and call them when I get off work and see if there is anything I can do. If not then I might go to the DA* 50-135 2.8 for my barrel racing pictures.

Thanks

This is the response i just received from Sigma.

Jim,

Thank you for contacting Sigma USA. We are sorry, your lens is beyond its servicelife and can no longer be repaired or updated to work with modern cameras.

Well phewy, that wasn't the response I was hoping to get.

Using flashes outdoors with horses.

I went and took some pictures of my friends horses using 3 of my AF540FGZ flashes with no umbrella (because of how bright it was at the time) and my K-1. I was also using the Cactus V6 wireless system that worked flawlessly. It was about 3 p.m. on a bright sunshiny day.

Camera settings were ISO 100, f/22, 1/160, 80mm and all three flashes were at full power in manual mode and zoomed to 85mm.

Camera settings were ISO 100, f/16, 1/160, 62.5mm and all three flashes were at full power in manual mode and zoomed to 85mm.

Any suggestions on what I could have done as far as lighting to make these shots better? Next time I will be using 4 of the Pentax flashes so hopefully I can use an umbrella to soften the light a little bit.

Some of the equestrian people are asking if I would be willing to come out on the weekends and take pictures of their horses. Is it time to invest in a battery powered portable light system?

Thank you
Jim

Thank you, I agree totally on the last one. I'm not sure, maybe one of the flashes didn't fire or maybe the sun was blocked a little.

Thanks

Hello banep

Yes my lens has the EX mark on it.
I'm assuming the firmware update would have to be done by Sigma?
When they updated yours, do you happen to remember how long it took them? I have evening barrel races every other Friday and this is my go to lens for them.

Thank you for your time.
