Film contrast problem

I was thinking the same thing... my local labs runs c41 in-house and sends out the traditional B&W. It wouldnít take too much to send off a roll of XP-2... and then if it got developed like HP-5 or something, thatís not all that hard to imagine...

And because you have to manually enter paper type and size for the virtual print it uses as a basis for the WYSIWYG...

ďWe get the feeling that if Canon or Panasonic had thought of this, it would have been better implemented. So, despite having a better feature set than any other camera on the market, the Pentax just doesnít rise to the level of Gold...Ē

Help Choose a 35-70

I was going to mention the F lens until you mentioned the LX...
It has everything but ergonomics...

I have the M24-35, which pairs nicely with a fast 50 for a walk around kit with my MX.

Have you considered the 40-80?

K-1 Automatically stops down my Pentax-a 50mm 1.4 in live view.

It seems to track exposure. If I set the aperture manually (with an A lens using the camera controls) and have a shutter speed that would result in underexposure with ambient light, live view is really dark... and the lens is stopped down...

This is a pain when using flash indoors...

Does K-1 in crop mode match K5?

I do it a lot. Itís an easy way to crop and saves space on the card... it also gives me a touch more telephoto when I brought the wrong lens... without disrupting my eventual workflow.

I used a Zeiss Jena 28-70 (that I would swear was made by Sigma) on my Super Program to good results, so yours should be great on the Program A.

It was replaced by a FA28-105 that I liked better in nearly every way.

Miranda Auto MC 28mm F2.8 M42 lens

Does it look like this one?
Miranda 28mm, f2.8 MC Lens Reviews - Miscellaneous Lenses - Pentax Lens Review Database

Thatís from the lens review section of the forums...

Miranda remarketed a number of manufacturersí lenses. I have a 24mm f2.8 in K mount thatís not bad.

If yours is in the same league, it should be pretty good on a Spotmatic, but nothing earth-shaking.

Is that what youíre after? Or is yours giving you problems?

Even Atlanta, GA used to have a show, with wide-spanning industry support and manufacturers reps, demos, and the like.

But that was 25+ years ago, when a SF1n was $850...

The show disappeared in the mid-90s, after a couple of years trying to be a small local thing. I think it was completely gone by the 1996 Olympics...

At one time, internal memory was all you had... for consumer or pro cameras...

Iím not a great fan as it generally requires a cord to get images off the camera, so it messes up my workflow...

But itís handy for a camera with only a single card slot...

K-1 misreading Tokina lens.

Mine does that, too... itís normal...

As a bonus, though, it only does that at 35mm. At wider focal lengths, mine gets picked up as a Tokina 19-35, which is a different lens, but which works for me...

I use Appleís Photos app for all that...

Those are the lenses that to me indicate the beginning of becoming an ďenthusiastĒ.

18-55 and 50-200 or so are Ďkití, even if you bought them separately... once you get that 50mm, youíre probably doomed...

I really enjoy when people take something raggedy and beat up and make it into something new and interesting.

Even when itís something I may not like aesthetically, adding value to something that has lost it from a traditional perspective is neat.

That said, there are some reimaginings that make me cringe...

PHOTURA - Canon Camera Museum

I also own a dial 35 half-frame that is unique, ergonomically speaking...

Yes. Gust of wind caught it, spun it around, and one of the cables fouled the prop on a tug (one of three).

According to Great Lakes and Seaway Shipping - BoatNerd.Com, it is in Turkey now...

Though they got it turned around and tangled up on its way down the St. Lawrence...

And itís made of the front part of a US tanker from WWII and the back part (and engine) of a more recent ship...

Have you seen light leak like this one?

Was there a lot of time between the shots where the leak occurred?

I have a MF camera that leaks enough on a bright day to fog film if I don't wind it on quickly enough, so I have to shoot a whole roll at once or it will fog whatever frame is in front of the lens...
It makes for a weird shooting style...

The oval dial is legit. It lets you use 1/3 stop increments at the wide open end, half-stops in the middle, then 1/3 again near where diffraction is an issue...

CaNikonysonic canít touch that level of ergonomic genius...

But yeah, wakes us up a bit :)

I have a 45-125 zoom that somehow got its focus out of alignment. It wouldnít focus farther away than ~12m. It now works a treat.

If itís not the adapter, you may be able to reset the lens focus.

You did say Omega, and I clearly ignored that :)

Yeah, rangefinder + closeup = pain...

Did they make a closeup kit with a finder attachment? It would probably be in the Ďmore than the rest of the systemí price category...

Could you mitigate that with a closeup filter or really short extension tube?

Whatís the filter size? Could you use a Raynox closeup and do macro?
