Well darn 😀. I was hoping it would have worked. Oh well maybe it's time to consider upgrading the K-3.

Me too, too sick to get out of bed. I did get back on the wagon today and posted a shot for the day.

With Sandy's encouragement I have decided to go with one of my new Q lenses and I'll use the 06 lens on my Q for the month. It will be a refresher on using my Q as I haven't been using it since I bough the K-3 ages ago. I will miss days as I start teaching a on how to cope with fibromyalgia and it will make my days much longer than they already are. It is only for a few days in the month, but because of the state of my health if I overdo things I frequently pay for it in a really big way.

Well I fell off the wagon and missed the end of the month. I did take shots but I couldn't manage to post them. On the bright side I posted more days than not and this has been the best I have participated in the SI Challenge for well over a year. My health had challenges this month too with a cold in the early part of the month to be followed by a stomach virus 2 weeks later. Normally my complicated medical issues are enough to deal with without picking up something nasty from the community so I am happy with what I was able to complete.

This was not the first time I had done a SI month with my FE. My DA 10-17 was my first "expensive" lens (being on disability means funds are really limited) and I was worried when I bought it if I had made a foolish purchase. I am pleased to report once again that I still enjoy using this lens. It has so many uses that it is hard not to enjoy all that you can do with it. My personal favourite is to use it at its widest and get the most fishiness and distortion. This lens wasn't what I had planned to use and I was worried that I might regret going with the flow, but I didn't and have really enjoyed the month.

Thank you to everyone who commented on my images. Your comments help me to see the things differently and provide valuable feedback. Some comments have also encouraged me to go out of my comfort zone, specifically to see what B&W processing can do for an image. Thanks again everyone for making it fun to participate in the Challenge.

Today I actually got out of the house and I took lots of photos however only one was with my SI lens and it was awful and beyond help. So I give myself an A for effort but an F for execution. It was at a concert in a venue not typically used for concerts and the lighting was really harsh on stage It meant I could have the audience or performers but not both. To add insult to injury, I don't think it was properly in focus either :(. So I am not sharing it. Tomorrow I will do better. However on the bright side, I learned an important lesson - take more than one shot with SI lens so I will have a plan B.

Glad you are feeling better. I too am on the mend - finally. I haven't strayed far from dry toast at the moment but I feel so much better.

My second Q lens (of the month) arrived this afternoon so I now have the 01, 02 and 06. The 01 and 06 were the new additions. Now I have to pick one for next month.

Can you believe it I'm sick again. This time it's a stomach bug and it started yesterday. With any luck it will have run its course by tomorrow but I won't make any promises. Fingers crossed for a much better day tomorrow.

Henry's has stopped listing Q lenses. They had them a couple of weeks ago as I was researching prices and debating purchases and then tonight when I went to compare prices between Henry's and Amazon, Henry's had no listings for any Q lenses.

Incidentally I bought an 01 lens tonight for $164 and change from Amazon.

Sorry I've missed the last couple of days, my health makes it really easy to get overwhelmed with stuff and I just couldn't manage. Time wasn't on my side and I want this to be fun and not the SI CHORE. Life is still a little busy, but I should be back on track.

Happy Birthday Sara!

And it is good to have you back photolady95. Enjoy your new purchase.

Topsy what a wonderful get up. To think I passed up on many magic lanterns when I used to be an antique dealer (the money was in the slides not the machines)!

The cold is turning into a doozie and It has hit my lungs and I've spent the better part of the last 2 days sleeping/resting. I did get a shot yesterday although it still sits in the camera. Today I never even picked up the camera. Hopefully tomorrow will be better, if not then Saturday. I will try and keep up with commenting.

I have a shot for today (hopefully), I haven't actually looked at it. Yesterday I bought Matt's Gps unit - 0-GPS1 and he must have paid for the rocket fuel delivery method, as it arrived today. This afternoon I ventured away from home to give it a try before I went to the Theatre to see a production of Bitter Girl. I was really good, got to sit with some of the performers after the show for a Q & A session as well which was interesting. Now I am beat and wheezing nicely so I will catch up tomorrow with commenting I missed yesterday and today.

Yikes I held my breath waiting to see how things worked out and I have my fingers crossed that all remains well. My K-3 took a light tumble last summer and I was lucky too. I am waiting to hear from a hand surgeon as I drop things on a regular basis and carpal tunnel has been fingered as the cause.

Hello everyone! I know it has been an awful long time since I tried doing a Single in Challenge, but I was thinking of giving April a go. My plan was to use my Q and the only Q lens that I have at the moment the 02 (major Q lba is trying to get a foot hold so it may get a few friends if I cave in). However since this looks like April is FE month, I do have the DA10-17mm FE and I could use it with my K-3. Decisions, Decisions. So sometime tomorrow I will make up my mind and surprise you with either my FE on my K-3 or my O2 on my Q. See you on Saturday!

Feel better soon. I too find photography a great diversion. Taking shots seem to be easier than processing for me as well..

In other news my Mum is home from the hospital and is her usual crazy and cranky self - so that's a very good thing. I have taken shots but the processing part is slowing me down (as I noted above) fingers crossed and I might slip back in (at least slowly at first.

How much of a chance do you take buying a used lens?
Posted By bigted

One of my best and most favourite lens I bought used in a thrift store. I bought it on a whim and knowing absolutely nothing about the lens and what it was capable of. It was a Sigma 400mm 5.6 Lens - complete with both original caps, case and a bonus pack of Kodak lens cleaning papers. Had I not taken the chance I would have missed out on such now much loved and well used lens.

I always go with what can I afford to lose, can I return it if not satisfied and how useful will it be - as there is no sense just picking it up because I can. I have one autofocus lens that is fussy and needs the connections cleaned regularly that is annoying, but knowing that it, it does perform once the connections are clean. Otherwise everything else that has been bought used has been as described.

The only thing that stops me from buying more used lenses is a chronic shortage of funds. As I have to pinch pennies to save up for my gear.

How many of you keep a camera in your car AT ALL TIMES?

Not ALL THE TIME at the moment. However I have picked up the perfect bag that doesn't scream camera bag that I carry almost everywhere. I also use it to carry my Macbook and I cannot manage both at the same time (disability issues). So if I have a meeting I must go to and need the laptop the camera comes out. Also I have many medical appointments and I don't always bring it then. But otherwise if I am not carrying my Macbook or going to see a Dr. then do carry something with me.

Well last night was a repeat of Thursday, except it is my Mum that I took to the ER. We are not sure what is going on. Early in the morning she was admitted and they said they had some tests they had lined up for today and now more for tomorrow. So for now I am out. As hard as it is to believe I am now the healthiest member of my immediate family.
