Plastic tanks fine.
Invest in a reel with big take-up guides for easy threading.

This project was first conceived in 1996. I can't imagine anything as ambitious as this would get off the ground [sorry] now. It's referred to as a time machine because it will be able to see into the universe's past. It's also a time machine because the fact it even exists reaches back to a past when the pursuit of knowledge for its own sake and science were revered.

I ended up getting an iPad from them with the 5% discount. Apple usually never discounts so this was a sweet deal. Thanks Sunman.

Affordable wide angle lens?

I was going to type much the same thing but you beat me to it. I also run M43 cameras and if the point of them is the small size you don't want to mount a larger lens. I love my Lumix 20mm 1.7 which also has the benefit of being a pancake design. It's so common it's easy to pick up a bargain second hand.

I've bought a lot from Digidirect and I've found them efficient with good service. But it's always helpful to check the starting price before the discounts are applied.

less competition for Pentax?

By having competitors in the DSLR space a market can be developed and maintained. If Pentax is the only one left it may not mean there's no competitors it may just mean the market segment disappears altogether. There's an expression: be careful what you wish for because you might get it.

Why and when to select focus points ?

I've always used a single focus point because I don't know how the multipoint works. Is it an average of the scene? Of if the subject is far away it doesn't matter? At least with a single point I know what's meant to be focus. I usually use the centre and re-compose but if I'm close to the subject I'll select the part of the frame it's in so as not to change the focus plane.

This is my setup. KP with DFA 100 macro and Manfrotto BeFree. Negatives also work as well as slides. I use my Epson scanner film holder. If this is done properly it's superior to and faster than the flatbed scanner.

I can see he's from the Roy Clark school of virtuosity plus hijinks.

This is the other end of the country rock spectrum, from a state next door to you.

Sierra Ferrell is going to be huge star.

Nikon vs Pentax discussion

This year I was given a D300 which I've been experimenting with. The closest comparison I have is with the K5. Anything more recent would be unfair. For focusing and external controls the D300 wins. However the K5 has much better ergonomics and the sensor and high ISO performance are superior. Not necessarily better photos but using the K5 is more enjoyable. And yes this is a comparison of two different specific high end crop sensor DSLRs. You can't extrapolate from this experience to the brands generally.

My daughter was learning guitar and then decided to stop with the term paid for up front. So I've taken her place. I've been playing for decades but this time I'm going for broke. Currently learning the Hendrix guitar solo from Hey Joe. So what am I listening to? Just that guitar solo over and over and over again. It does make you realise anew how brilliant he was.

On eBay I will only spend as much money as I'm willing to lose. However I did have one experience where the seller was so petrified of a bad review he refunded the value of a necessary repair. The review process does provide a bit of clout.

I also recommend the 40mm on the K1. It's a great lens but an odd focal length on a crop sensor. It gets more love on the K1.

This year I was gifted a mint Nikon D300 but with no lenses. Because of the Z series DX lens prices have fallen of a cliff. I bought the highly regarded 35mm 1.8 basically being given away second hand on eBay. I was the only bidder. And a DX 16-85 brand new for less than half the street price and probably a third of the recommended retail. It's still a fine camera and it's been fun learning the way Nikon approaches photography. The lesson is Pentax protects the safety of our investment by maintaining the K-mount and pursuing DSLR development. How would pre-Z Nikon owners feel about the rapidly waning value of their collections?

Maybe I'm just old but I remember applying for jobs where the ad explained what the applicant was expected to do and what they were meant to know. There would be list of tasks with outcomes. Appropriate qualifications would be identified. Imagine a job interview where you'd have to relate the last time you delighted an amorphous group of people.

Yes. A brilliant full frame camera with a terrific lens. Nothing will stop you from continuing to use the K3 with your APS-C lenses. It's still a fine camera.
