Sweet deal. If I didn't have the D- FA 100 macro WR - I'd jump at this one. The 100 focal length on APS-C is terrific . On FF is can double as a portrait lens. Best of luck selling. I suspect it won't last long.

My wife used to call my K-5II my mistress as I kept sneaking off with her every chance I got. I often refer to the K-5II with DBG-4 grip and DA* 60-250 as "Beastie" but have yet to create a nickname for the KP with a HD DA Limited attached.

Limiteds - DA 21 or DA 70 as my next lens? As a treat to myself...

Another vote for the 21!!! It is my most used Limited and I have the 15/21/35/40/70 family. For portraits to 70 is magical. If I could only keep one of these it would be the HD DA 21. It's a wide-normal on APS-C.

How about a DA* 16-50? Covers a lot of bases, is a stop faster, Weather sealed, and the colours on the DA* lenses are outstanding. I usually shoot Limitedís but just shot 2 Weddings with the DA* 16-50 on the KP. It did not disappoint and allowed me to shoot 95% of both events with a single camera and lens.

Iíve had Pentax special orders through Henryís and they have been dreadfully slow (6-7 weeks). The local camera store usually get items in 3-4 weeks which is better. My last 3 Pentax purchases (all in the last few months) have been either through Camera Canada or Amazon.ca. All 3 have arrived within a week. In our highly connected world waiting a month or more is no longer an acceptable standard unless the price is one heck of a deal.

Upgrade Question - Upcoming ASP-C Flagship or K1 Mk ii ?

I got tired of waiting for a new APS-C flagship as an upgrade for my K-5II. I was skeptical about the KP with itís smaller buffer and battery as well as lack of a top screen. Back in March I bought a KP and havenít looked back! Itís a significant upgrade in IQ, low light performance and AF speed. Took a couple of weeks to get used to the ergonomics. Now the K-5II is a back up only...until I purchase a second KP!

Selling off all my zooms in 2014 and spending 4 years shooting primes (HD DA Limitedís) only - before buying the DA* 60-250. The primes made me think more about the process, positioning, composition and visualizing what I want to capture in advance. The Limitedís also squeeze every possible bit of sharpness out of the sensor and deliver a superb drawing style.

I have had 36Ē x 24Ē prints made by a local print shop on gallery quality canvas that were shot on my humble16 MP K-5II. These were taken with a tripod and remote. Some are slower shutter speeds, some are not. No issues with IQ, highlight and shadow details or lack of detail when viewed up close. A little work in Lightroom helps them pop. Now I have a few files shot with the KP that have also been sent in - to be printed on 36Ē x 24Ē - looking forward to seeing the printed result. 24 MP APS-C is easily capable of delivering high quality prints larger than 12Ē x 18Ē.

The key advantages of the larger sensor are low light performance and shallow depth of field. When it comes to low light performance the KP is no slouch either.

K-1 size and weight question

Iím sure the K1II is awesome. I handled a K-1 a year ago and didnít find to to be much bigger tan my K-5II. That said when I upgraded a few months ago the KP was my choice. I have all 5 HD DA Ltd primes and with the KP I can only describe the match as perfection!

You already have a 35 & a 50. As others have stated the 15 will round out your current kit nicely. I have been shooting with HD DA Limitedís since 2015. Depending on travel destination my compact travel setup is either HD DA 21/40/70 or HD DA 15/35/70. Given that you have a 35mm lens the 15 is the logical choice. I started shooting Limitedís on a K-5II and recently upgraded to a KP. The KP with a Limited lens is pure joy to shoot with.

Anyone using the Spiderlight holster and/or Spiderlight handstrap with a KP?

If so, how well does it work? What do you like about it? Anything that could be better?

The reason I ask is I'm considering ordering both items and it will be an international purchase and costly at that. It'd be ideal to hear from someone using one or both with a KP.

Thanks in Advance.

K3 II vs KP

I overthought the KP as un upgrade for the past 2 years for my K-5II. When I finally pulled the trigger the improvement in IQ and AF was substantial. My concerns over buffer size and burst speed for shooting sports were unwarranted. Then I only shoot bursts of 3-5 frames at a time. The KP is an outstanding piece of kit.

My first diffuser was a Sto-Fen which still gets used periodically. I also have coloured Sto-Fens, one for warming and another for cooling flash. These get used periodically when travelling with a light kit is important. I also use a Lastolite EZY-Box speed light 2 which is a terrific and small softbox that can be used with flash on camera. A pair of Cactus CB60ís are the workhorses Cactus CB-60W Foldable Soft Box White Reflector w/Grid 60cm - Cactus Store and you can also buy additional masks Cactus CM-60 Soft Box Mask Set - Cactus Store

I was waiting for a new APS-C flagship but rolled the dice on a KP as an upgrade to my K-5II. No regrets! Fantastic ISO and image quality upgrade. Excellent AF upgrade. I bought an extra battery and that resolved my battery life concern. Prices on the KP are pretty good.

Revisiting the DA* 60-250?
Posted By Saltwater Images

Iím shooting with a KP and K-5II. Most of my kit is all 5 HD DA Ltd primes and the D FA 100 Macro WR (which is really another limited as far as Iím concerned). My only zoom at the moment is the 60-250 however I have ordered a Sigma 17-50. Last year choosing between the DA* 60-250 and DA* 200 was a tough choice. The 60-250 has not disappointed and is a stack of primes with punchy colours - I selected it for flexibility. Most times I find myself using the lens at the 200mm focal length so the DA* 200 would have also been ideal. This year I considered adding the 200 to my kit for the extra stop of light but bought the KP for a little less cash and the improved ISO performance of settling the need for the wider aperture in low light. The 200 is lighter and perhaps a better match for both of your cameras. If I had a K-1 and a KP the 200 would be my choice. Good luck with your decision.
