3rd party K-S2 Batteries

It was a camera wide settings wipe. Only happened once, but not since. Both batteries are acting normal now. it's weird. The new batteries are the same voltage, but higher mAh/Wh, I figured this was capacity and how long it would last. They are listed as being K-S2 compatible, so should be fine with my camera.

I just got my new batteries through (Newmowa D-Li109 Replacement Battery and Dual USB: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics). They work, however when I put one of them into the camera all the settings reset on me. How much of a problem is this (is it something that will cause a problem down the line)? Is this a sign that I should send them back, or will I be ok?

I am looking at third party batteries for my K-S2 (official P/N D-LI109) as the last pair I bought have been substandard and really don't keep much charge. I was wondering if anyone can recommend a make that has a good price for the charge/performance?

Mini SDCard formatting

To clear things up, I meant micro. I forgot there was an intermediate size sd card at one point. I think I'm going to get some regular SD cards once I can afford it.

Hi,

I have been having problems with my mini sd cards that i format in my K-S2, when I try to connect them to my pc, be it through camera or card reader, with or without the sd adapter, they don't mount. In the computer management software, when trying to do anything with the partition I get a 'The system cannot find the file specified' error. Regular SD cards are fine. has anyone come across this?

Thanks

Lisa

Hi all,

A short time ago I purchased a quick release L bracket for my K-S2, however I am having a problem that I have had with other plates that is exacerbated by the size of the L bracket. No matter how tight I try to secure it, it will still shift easily and I can still get gradual downward creep on my camera when securing it in the portrait orientation. Does anyone have any suggestions/fixes/hacks that will prevent it from moving once tight?

Thanks

Lisa

After sitting down with a screwdriver, tweezers and some patience I got to the bottom of my HD Pentax-DA 18-50mm F4-5.6 DC WR RE lens that would not focus on anything other than 18mm. I have a broken ribbon cable on my hands now and a search for a replacement. Can anyone point me to a replacement part? It was situated around the side of the lens body.

Thanks

Lisa

No, more than enough. It's weird. I looks like a read error. I guess I'll stick to using a card reader for now until I suss it out.

Copying directly from the camera works, cable is a good one too. I've not had any problems with my USB ports. I am using a USB3 port, Maybe if I try with a usb2 port. Right now this seems to be a Lightroom specific thing.

Hi all,

I have been having an issue when directly plugging my KS2 into Lightroom to import photos, It will start ok, and then part way one photo will glitch and then the import hangs. Has anyone encountered this and/or knows what is causing it? I know I can just plug in a card reader, but it would be so much more hassle free if I can just do it from my camera.

Thanks

Lisa.

I may be able to spend a bit more, I've got most of the gear for my trip now. I'll spend more in the long term, just wanting something sturdy and serviceable for this trip.

Hi all,

I have been preparing for a camping & photography trip to the Boscastle/Tintagel area in Cornwall (UK). Last night when I was going over my camera gear and refreshing stuff in my mind, I managed to crack the head for my tripod (pictured). I do have a basic ball head, but I find that's not so good for landscapes. I was wondering if anyone could recommend a reasonable replacement head (ideally not much more than 50)? I have been looking at 3 way pan & tilt heads with the arca-swiss fitting.

Thanks

Lisa

Ok, so I have a little more on this problem. I had my dad try this defective lens on his pentax camera and he had the same problems. Seems it will focus on the 18mm (widest) setting but not on the others. I am wondering if it's worth sending it in for repair, or just replace it?

Yeah, if I set it to a wide auto focus it reacts the same as when I do a center spot focus. Whatever I try to shoot. I guess it's good that this isn't a regular lens for me.

Ok, checked the back button function and it acts the same. I did a cleaning of the contacts too.
