I think it 's down to, although the model has been announced and will be shown for the 100th anniversary, it will actually be released next year, the 101st year anniversary.

He goes on to complain why a model hasn't been released thus far and questions why one won't.

I would also consider your Bigma unless you have any doubts about that lens.

Lenses - how do you store yours ?

Got mine laying on their sides in an air tight box.
So far, so good.
I think for lenses from the 70s and 80s i have given them some care and attention.

I mean, if they got through decades unscathed then my storage shoild keep them going another 40 years.

Original kit lens for the Pentax SF1n (1989)?

Got some MZ series cameras, 3, 5, 10, which I really like, zippy autofocus and nice, but compact ergonomics. Completely opposite to the oder SF series.
The viewfinder is a huge attraction of the SF cameras.

Don't want to stray off topic, but how do the P series viewfinders compare?

I'm thinking to get the F35-70.
Just finished a roll of Agfa using an F 28-80 so will get them developed first.

SFXn seems like a solid camera, great viewfinder compared to the MX series.

Exactly.
Japan has a love affair with limited stuff.
Pentax is no stranger to limited designed bodies and anniversary models.

I like these cameras and they are good for the collectors.
This has all come about because of the 100th anniversary.

I don't get all the negativity.

Why A BIG Camera When The Latest Smart Phones Are So Capable?

Mobiles are good fun.
Nowhere near the enjoyment of a digital slr.
A world apart from the enjoyment i have with my ME Super.

A mobile phone will always be for snapshots as far as i am concerned, regardless of so-called quality.

Each to their own.

Pentax 645Z for travel :)

I think it refers more to a possible waiting time and home delivery if repair takes longer than necessary.
I had my K10D lens release button replaced years ago.
It was done under warranty and posted back to me, in tokyo, all free of charge.

Several of the staff speak various levels of English.
Particuarly the sales staff.

My experience anyway.
Excellent pace to visit and the galleries are often good.

645Z making a return trip home.
Good photos, BTW.
Will check the video.

Where to (physically) find a Pentax LX in Tokyo, Japan?

If you're coming from the UK and basing the price on the exchange rate then of course dont expect a bargain nowadays.
When I first came to Japan in 2002 the exchange rate was 226 yen to the pound. Bargains galore.
The shops dont price for tourists. That is for large tax free chain stores.

Haggling and tipping isn't in the culture here. If it took an hour to get a deal done then I am surprised he gave in at all.
It takes a certain amount of loyalty for return customers to get anything, even then it will be offered by the staff not requested by the customer.
That's just as much a part of the culture as taking ones shoes off upon entering the home.

Some shops have have a grading like you pointed out.
Map Camera does something like that.
Fujiya Camera has a AB ranking.
Many of the shops have "junk" cameras. Something is often broken on the camera.
This could be a dirty mirror, rusty battery compartment, anything.
I bought a silver MZ10 with a sightly rusty battery compartment, cleaned it, works fine. 300 yen.
An MZ3 with a broken pop up flash for only 30 yen.
These cameras are considered spares and repairs.
Same with lenses and accessories.

Around 40,000 yen is the going rate for an LX.
Around 30,000 for an MZS.
Both considered collectors cameras here.
I would like both of them but too rich for me.
Happy with my ME Super and MZ3.

I started with a Centon DF300 and a Canon eos 50e.
Switched to Pentax many years ago and am happy and see no reason whatsoever to invest in anything else.

The emphasis was how much they crammmed into their living space.
Interior only.
Will try and recall the book.

From what i've read Yashica needs a kickstarter campaign to appoint Q C department.

I might have been interested in the TLR if it was actually Yashica running the show.

Where to (physically) find a Pentax LX in Tokyo, Japan?

Map Camera in Shinjuku is worth a visit as is Fujiya Camera in Nakano.
Both carry good Pentax stock.
Worth a visit.

They used to be my favourite camera shops in Tokyo until I discovered Sanpou Camera in Meguro and Used Camera Box in Shinjuku.

Sanpou Camera has some great deals and is a well priced shop. They carry a large stock of Pentax lenses and bodies which changes frequently.
It's a long walk from Meguro station but worth a visit.
?????????? -?????????????????????????????????-

The best used camera shop in Tokyo is called Used Camera Box.
It is in Shinjuku near to Map camera.
It is tricky to find so you should use google maps.
It is a tiny shop in the basement.
It is cramped with camera and lenses in glass cabinets. All sorts of stuff piled up around the shop.
It is like a museum. Run by a few older guys who are friendly and speak very basic english.
I went in last week and they had an LX. Roughly 45,000yen.
The number one camera shop to visit.

The Ricoh Square in Shinjuku, Tokyo is holding a Fan Day this Friday.
And all over the weekend, 20/21 there will be special items for sale.
I've just seen some photos on ricoh twitter account with items like pin badges and coloured hot shoe covers.
I will pop in on Friday morning before work.
