Pentax k-x autofocus adjustment help

Thank you. It's just I have a K10 I bought to try the CCD sensor, and it happens to have been put into debug mode by the previous owner. Haven't used it enough to decide if I want to leave it in debug mode or not, but I do like the subtle difference between CCD and CMOS.

Just out of interest, how do you revert to normal, i.e. get rid of debug mode?

OP. Are you sure that you're not just seeing air-borne seeds or similar captured in the photo?

Browse the forum for sdm failure. In the worst case it'll need a new motor or conversion to screw drive, but it might just need a little exercise to wake it up if it hasn't been used for a while.

I find mine can sulk if I don't use it for a while. It displays all the classic sdm failure symptoms, but once working, it keeps working.

Make sure you have a fully charged battery. Leave the lens on the camera with the body switched on for a few minutes. (There's a theory that a capacitor in the lens circuitry needs charging up first).Exercise the lens by using the focus ring to focus backwards and forwards. You might need to do this a few times. Then, (fingers crossed!). try focussing.

It's under warranty. 5 years at that! Back to the retailer for repair. Don't be fobbed off. The terms of their warranty are on their site.

If you purchased it with a credit card the card company can also be approached.

Also, I see that Novo invite user feedback on their site. Write a bad review. You are an unhappy customer after all.

Take a look here>Simon Booth - YouTube

Simon's a Pentax 645Z user as far as I'm aware - certainly he uses a digital 645. He might be able to offer some insight as to why he uses the kit, and you'll get an idea of results from his posts.

From my 35mm if only camera days, the camera rested on the palm of the left hand and the thumb/forefinger were used to operate the focus and/of zoom ring.

I had a KS-1, and found it was a superb little camera with great ergonomics (using old school handling per above). Used it with DA primes as a small high quality walk about kit.

Only got rid of it because it wasn't getting used? Still regret it.

As it has a hole in it already, try a screw extractor.

The OP has produced some impressive charts, but so what? It shows a declining camera market over 8 years. Ok. Have I missed the point of the post? If so, please enlighten me.

I enjoy my Pentax kit.

It was never an investment and was treated as a sunk cost immediately the purchase(s) was/were complete.

If I get anything back on resale - great! If I don't - c'est la vie.

I'm a firm believer in only getting exercised over things I have direct control over.

BUT... there's a counter argument for not buying large capacity cards. 'Don't put all your eggs in one basket'.

Cards fail, get lost.

When I read these comments I wondered what I'm doing wrong, as I'm very happy with my 100 macro. Yes, there is occasional PF, but easily removed in post.

I've looked at the example photos associated with a number of critical reviews, including yours Gianclaudio, and I have to work really hard to see what you see.

Personally, I prefer my own judgement.

My advice to the OP, buy and try; come to your own conclusions.

Pentax k100 D date and time
Posted By JohnX

The date/time data is held in memory in the camera powered by a fixed battery/capacitor, which in turn is charged by the camera's removable battery. The internal battery has failed, so date and time is now retained in memory only as long as the removable battery is charged and in place. Remove the removable battery and theres nothing to power the camera's memory, so the camera immediately forgets it's settings.

Unfortunately, unless you diy, the cost of repair exceeds the value of your camera.

Don't overlook the risk of aperture block failure in the lower tier Pentax bodies, which includes the KS2.

See what you think of this. Unipal Plus

Although the ad is EU-centric I know Hahnel sells in other countries.

CR Kennedy in Australia might be worth trying?

A more versatile solution. :)
